Absolutely brilliant tutorials and explanations throughout your videos. Thanks for taking the time and effort to share your knowledge in this way. For a subject with such a scope for confusion, your delivery of the subject ares is nothing short of brilliant.
I’d love to see a video of how you have connected your truss together and how to best organize cables, cable suggestions for powering each light etc. I’ve learned so much from these two videos
Thanks very much for those kind words! Here is a video that shows some detail on a few of my trusses: ua-cam.com/video/CaeAaZdbpCU/v-deo.html and here is a video about making a special wiring harness to clean up and simplify your power cables: ua-cam.com/video/PZ2wdQFTI9M/v-deo.html Hope these are helpful and appreciate you watching!
Glad to hear! The hardest part for me was setting up the router and interface which luckily you only need to do once. After that the app is pretty easy to figure out. Appreciate you watching.
These videos are incredible. Thank you! Question for ya - in another video, you show how one can sync a sequence of scenes with music using a MIDI sequencer (on the iPad) and a separate DMX controller. I'm wondering if you could use one iPad for both the DMX controller, as in this video, as well as the MIDI sequencer, as in the aforementioned video. Can an iPad run both at the same time? Hope that makes sense - thanks again for everything you do!!
Thanks for your kind words! In theory you could do that as long as both apps support coreMIDI (which many apps do) In experimenting with Vibrio it appears it does not, but I believe many other IOS DMX apps (such as Luminair) would allow you to do this.
question. Could i use the same router i am using for my wireless sound mixer? i.e. i have the Mackie DL32R and use a router for it so could i use that same router to also use VIBRIO at the same time??
I wish I had more expertise with networking, but I'm guessing you wouldn't be able to use the same router for both. With both the basic wireless routers I have set up, they created a single WIFI network that the iPad connects to. I don't think that could be shared with a second device but would have to research more to be sure. Appreciate you watching...
Thank you again for your videos! Hoping you might have insight on Vibrio crashing when trying to map a Sequence to a keyboard using its USB midi output
When I built my "crazy controller" ua-cam.com/video/cXkpn6teBpY/v-deo.html I was using 2 different USB midi controllers and I noticed that if I assigned one of the controllers to a scene and tried using the second one (with the same midi note data) Vibrio would sometimes crash. Have you always been assigning with the same controller? Also I have had problems in the past using non apple certified usb to lightning cables. That could be a possibility as well. I really hope you get it all sorted out and appreciate your kind words.
Glad it was helpful! (and happy to hear that as setting up the router and interface can be a bit daunting the first time you try) Appreciate you watching...
Thank you for this! I’ve got vibrio working, but a stupid question: when my iPad goes to sleep, a sequence stops running. Of course this makes sense, but wondering if there is a way to keep a sequence running without keeping the iPad awake and running the battery down?
I keep my iPad set to "never sleep" and keep it plugged in. (I always have it attached to a MIDI controller so I have it connected to power anyway) That's the only way I know of to keep a sequence running. Appreciate you watching!
I absolutely love your videos man👍. Perhaps the best site on youtube. I'm going to buy all the gadgets you talk about here. What brand is the truss you have the fixtures mounted to? Which PAR 64 lights are you using?
Thanks for your kind words! The truss is a Pro Audio DJ Portable Truss like this one: www.amazon.com/Audio-Light-Lighting-Portable-Section/dp/B00SS5QRQU My par lights are 36 x 3W RGB PAR 64 lights that I bought on eBay a long time ago (from a seller in Southern California called "musicsupply"
How do you setup a scene with all the lights doing something different? Like if I wanted to make a standby scene on a job with just static lights in two different positions?
When you go in to edit a scene you will see "groups" and "fixtures" based on how you have set everything up in the "Fixtures" panel. You can set each fixtures (or light) to have its own look by selecting it, and then editing it. The edits will only apply to that light. Hope that makes sense and good luck with your light show!
Great videos! It seems like there is no new or upcoming updates on the Vibrio app? Do you know if the community is still active? Are there any newer apps you would suggest going with? Thank you so much in advance 😁👍
Interesting that you should ask that. I've just started using an app on the iPad called StageLight. It might have a slightly higher learning curve, but its being updated regularly by the developer and has a lot more features (especially with regards to MIDI which got me on it) Plus its a very good price. I'm planning on doing a video on it before too long.
Got Vibrio, paid the $40 for 256 channels, started programming some scenes and sequences, and found out that there is no separate fade speed control for fade in/fade out. Just a single fade speed (fade in/fade out are the same speed). That kind of sucks for dynamic parts of songs, where you want the lights to pop on and fade out. Know of any lighting apps similar (and as intuitive) to Vibrio (for iPad) that have separate fade in/fade out controls? QLC+ for computers does, but I don't wanna use up a laptop for lighting control (I have 7 iPads, lol). I'm bummed, really wanted Vibrio to work for me. :(
I started using an iPad app called StageLight a while back that is reasonably priced and has a lot more functionality than Vibrio. I control all my fades with MIDI so I'm not sure if you can program different fade in and out times in the app itself but it might be worth checking the online manual. Would be curious to know what you find out...
@@LearnLizard Any thoughts on using a Bluetooth pedal to control scenes similarly to how youre using the midi controller? Like an airturn or the Chauvet
@@JustinLaceySongs Right now, Vibrio's external control capabilities are pretty limited. There is no bluetooth functionality and its MIDI control is limited given it doesn't have CoreMIDI built in. At some point I think I will probably be making the leap back to Luminair again which has a lot more features including DMX over bluetooth.
@@LearnLizard Thanks for the insight. Having trouble getting Vibrio to trigger the sequences with MIDI keyboard so was thinking of other ways. Thanks again!
Hi Steve, I knew nothing about dmx until a couple of years ago and your videos on using the Chauvet saw me through. Was looking at the wireless setup, can you use the Apple AirPort Express as in your previous video? Not sure if I missed something but you changed both the router and interface in part 2. Trying to get am eDMX pro 1 etc seems impossible in the UK for some reason, are there any other ethernet>DMX interfaces reccomended? Many thanks for taking the time to post these videos, these are my first port of call.
Hi Paul- Appreciate those kind words! After trying a few different configurations I'm back to using my AirPort Express but now with the eDMX pro. The AirPort Express was a little more complicated to setup but I like its smaller footprint and its been really reliable. I really like my eDMX1 Pro (which has now been replaced by the eDMX1 MAX) but I know they can sometimes be hard to get. Although I've never used one, ENTTEC is a reliable brand and their ethernet>DMX interfaces often get recommended. Thanks for watching!

The router actually takes the DMX data from the interface and then creates its own network that the iPad connects to. The hotspot on your phone won't have any use in this kind of setup. Good question and appreciate you watching!
@@LearnLizard I watched a few YT vids on the cheap Chinese moving heads, including yours, took a risk and bought a pair. quite impressed with U-King. My only bug bear was the useless bracket. the wholes were too small for O-glamp bolts. Now sorted though. the lamps don't have a program mode which stop them panning 360 though. DMX seems an expensive route to go just to stop the panning issue.
Have you upgraded or used different interface like Chauvet AN2 yet? I hit a brick wall setting this up. I am using Luminaire and DMX AN2 and a cheap router please help :(
I'm still using my eDMX1 pro for simpler setups and it continues to work great with Vibrio and another iPad app I've been using called StageLight. I went back to using my Apple Airport Express for my router because it was simpler to configure and more compact. For bigger shows I'm using an ADJ myDMX3 interface hardwired to my macbook air. I'm the first to admit that configuring routers is a PITA and once its set up and working I never want to make any changes!!
It seems impossible to get support on Vibrio anywhere - so you are my last hope 😁🤞 I remote control Vibrio using midi and this has been working perfectly until recently. Now I can’t get Vibrio to take action on the incoming midi signals. Midi signal shows up correct in Vibrio’s ‘learn’ window but Vibrio does not act on the commands you attach to the midi notes !?!? Any ideas?
Yeah, it's too bad the Vibrio developers aren't more involved in supporting their app. Are you sending MIDI cc: messages from a fader or knob? When you see a response in the "Learn" window are you sending just one message or multiple ones? Are you sending from just one controller or multiple ones? I found that Vibrio sometimes gets confused if multiple sources or messages are learned. Although it doesn't specifically address your issue, this video (using Vibreo) might give you some insight. ua-cam.com/video/cXkpn6teBpY/v-deo.html Good luck and I would love to know if you get it figured out. If you get too frustrated you might try this app: StageLight. Its inexpensive and has a lot more MIDI functionality. Plus the developer is very responsive. Appreciate you watching...
Hmm- did you get the the Netgear N300 router? I don't think it matters that it says the network is "unsecured" as you are setting up your own network (between the interface and the router) I'm not very expert in network IT but I found that the US tech support for DMXking was fantastic and they helped me through one basic thing I didn't understand. Would love to hear back from you when you get it sorted out.
2 questions and a comment...Comment- great videos!...Question 1- if I setup scenes a full brightness can I turn them down "on the fly" for the current setup/environment? Question 2- I see the export function can I assume there is an import function so the show can be loaded on another ipad? Thanks
Thanks for the kind words! Yes and Yes 1) There is a dimmer function on the far right pane for each scene that will dim in real time 2) You can import saved files to another iPad running Vibrio
Good after noon I like your tutorial videos I have a question what 6way connectors brand are you using to connect all your lights together? Thanks for replies very helpful
You definitely can with an iPad (and most likely with Android devices) Vibrio gives you limited control triggering scenes and sequences with MIDI. Here's a video that shows how: ua-cam.com/video/cXkpn6teBpY/v-deo.html There is also an app called StageLight that I have been using recently that gives you much more control. I use a Novation Launchkey and it works great.
Thanks for the kind words and good question- Sequences don't have any sound active type functionality, however there is a "Tap for Tempo" button that appears when a sequence is selected in the "Show View". When selected it allows you to either tap the tempo or set the BPM of the song, so that might be an option for you. Appreciate you watching!
Hello thanks for the video, I have dime problems, When I check the wifi conection in vibrio it says "connected to unknown network" and is not working :(
Hi- First thing you need to do is go to your iPad's system settings and choose WIFI. Then log into the router you set up with your DMX interface. Now when you open Vibrio, it should show that same router in the "Connection Status" and you should be good to go. Hope that helps and good luck getting up and running...
You are the best, answering my questions about DMX, controlling lights. Before I´m really on my way starting my first scene, how do I get the Vibrio respond to my wifi (ADJ mydmxGO. I can not see any wifi on the Art Net Unicast who probably should show the connections available for running the lights? I have no problem with the connection between mydmxGo and the app GO, that´s bother me. Saw something about Art Net Output? Is there any setups for it to match my dmxGO transmitter?
Thanks so much and not sure whats going on with your connection. If I go to settings on my iPad and select the WI-FI network from the router the interface is connected to, it is automatically connected to Vibrio. I have Vibrio set to its default settings of ArtNet Broadcast mode (Unicast off) and an ArtNet Output of Universe 1:0. I hope you can get it working!
Good question. You don't need internet (data subscription) to make this work. The router creates its own network that the iPad connects to. Thanks for watching.
I enjoyed the video so I decided to try out vibrio myself. I have a question about configuring the spider Lights into vibrio because I am unsure what to use. Pan and tilt work but I want to know if there is a way for me to program the spider so it can work with the effects. In vibrio the only effects that comes up is my color and dimming attributes. Short question long, is there a way I can program the spider to work with my moving effects attributes?
Hi- Thats a good question. I assume you are talking about Vibrio's built in effects? I have my Mini Spider set to 10 Channel mode and the only effects that come up as options are "Fade", "Popcorn" and "Strobe". And all these effects do is add motion effects rather than color. Its most likely that because the Spider has single color LED's (with no color mixing) Vibrio doesn't know how to treat it. There's an option for programming custom effects so that may be a work around. Please let me know if you can get more effects working and thanks for watching.
I believe that most basic routers can be configured to work with an ethernet to dmx adapter (I've set up two different ones) but its kind of tricky for non network guys like me.
The key to this whole setup is to be able to connect the router wirelessly to the iPad. When you power up the router for the first time it will try to establish an internet connection using the Netgear configuration software but you need to tell it to "Use without Internet" From then on you can connect to it using the WIFI settings on your iPad and it will control your lights through the interface. I hope that helps and appreciate you watching :)
@@LearnLizard Okay sir, thanks very much, then I have this DMX 240 mixer light controller but I don't really know how to operate it, please sir can you make a video on how to operate it, please sir, please help me out sir
That lighting truss is that? Also can u hang it on the ceiling? If not what do u recommend for that. Also can u di a totorial on how to configure the lights settings on the light to make it correspond with any type of computer program instead of a board.
Hi- The truss is a Pro Audio DJ Portable Truss like this one: www.amazon.com/Audio-Light-Lighting-Portable-Section/dp/B00SS5QRQU Normally they mount to light stands. (I have 2 On-Stage Crank-up light stands) I've never seen that type of truss hanging from the ceiling but you could probably do it if you have adequate points to rig it to. You HAVE to make sure you are safely doing this using approved hardware and methods or you will be putting everyone below at risk! Next year I plan to do some videos showing computer programs running lights so stay tuned-- and thanks for watching!
I have 2 pics of beam's, 15 pics of 7 eyes moving head, 9 pics of beam double face light, with 12 packing light, please how can I program them and use them at a time
Hi- First you need to determine how many DMX Channels each of your fixtures (lights) have. Then you need to set every fixture to a different DMX starting address if you want to control them independently. You might want to watch this video that is a very basic introduction to DMX programming. Thanks! ua-cam.com/video/dJQAZsNwcv4/v-deo.html
Hey Steve, do you have any tips on being able to use the midi controller and be able to charge the ipad at the same time? I believe I've seen something before (maybe even from you) about plugging in a [powered?] hub but still looking for it.
If you use an Apple Lightning to USB3 Camera adapter like this: amzn.to/3PdDEYQ you can charge the iPad while it's connected to a USB device (like a MIDI controller) Its always worked well for me. Thanks for watching!
Can I use the CHAUVET DJ DMX-AN since currently the eDMX1 Pro is unavailable? If so does it add any other hardware needs? Thanks so much for your videos!!
Thanks for the kind words! The DMX-AN should work as should any Art-Net to DMX interface and it should work with any router. My experience with my first interface was that it was very difficult to set up while the eDMX1 was effortless (as I had read in many reviews) Ley me know how it goes and good luck!
Hey, continuing to like your videoes a great deal. I was wondering if you think you could use the Soundking CXA020 DMX 512 5pin XLR Female to RJ45 Cat5 Adapter to connect a DMX rig to the wireless router for the ipad control. It's 1/10th of the price of the Entec Cat6 to Ethernet adapter. But it is Cat5, not CAT6.... Cheers
Hi- I don't believe those adapters would work. It's my understanding they are used to make low cost DMX cables using ethernet cables. DMX to ethernet adapters (like Enttec, DMXking, etc. make) are units that convert information from a router to a DMX signal and are obviously much more complex. I highly recommend going with an eDMX1 pro if you are looking for a simple low cost interface. Appreciate you watching!
Thanks man! - I downloaded Light Rider and played around with it (for free) but never got very deep into it so don't know very much. Maybe would make a good future video?
I really like the eDMX 1 Pro interface because it is pretty much "plug and play". Connect it to the router with an Ethernet cable, plug a DMX cable into it and your light and power it up via USB. Most of the set up challenge comes with configuring the router. If you have any problems, DMXking tech support is really good. They have always gotten me up and running when I've had issues...
Thanks very much, I really like all your videos and you have my subscribe, but please help me out, I don't know how to get those adopter's, or is there any other one I can still use for it? and tell me the name of all this adopter's and how to get it because I really need them for my church, and we are in Nigeria, please try and help me out o this sir
Hello to Nigeria and thank you for the kind words. To make this work you need an Ethernet to DMX adapter that works over Art-Net. There are many different ones available but I really recommend the eDMX1 pro as it is the simplest and probably the least expensive.
Has any one else experienced a crash when trying to trigger a sequence with Midi in Vibrio? My midi controller works with other apps and even works with Vibrio to trigger scenes but crashes the app when trying to trigger a sequence. I have emailed Toast Mobile. Hope they will fix the unhandled exception in their software.
How do I get to the page shown after 6min and how do I delete the scenes and sequenses on the New show page? My page only shows Now playing and I have the scenes down like the video, but no choice for editing.
Vibrio should open to the "Shows" page (the one at 6 min in the video) You can also select it on the right hand pane by tapping the icon of the 3 lights. To delete a scene or sequence, first select it and then tap "Tile Options" on the bottom right. There will then be a "delete" button. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video and others, quite informative :) I have a dmxking ultraDMX Micro, is it possible to control it via an Ipad wirelessly instead of using an eDMX1 pro
Good question. Not with this hardware/software combo that I am aware of. If you want to avoid a wireless setup there are ways to do it if you use a special converter in place of the router (made by Redpark) and a more sophisticated app (Luminair) Appreciate you watching.
Here's a solution using the free version of Show Buddy Active which you can run as a VST plugin in your DAW. (you need to connect to an iPad or buy the full version of SBA to make this work) ua-cam.com/video/_q0ZyGS0VWQ/v-deo.html
Yes, unfortunately iPad only. There are a few ios apps like Luinair that will run on iPad as well as iPhone, and a few Android apps I have seen such as "DMX controller" by Future Sensor. Appreciate you watching.
The DMX-AN 2 is an Ethernet-to-DMX adapter so it SHOULD work with Vibrio however I haven't tested that one. Setting up an adapter with a router can be a bit tricky- that's why I went with the eDMX1 PRO. Simple to use and good tech support. Good luck and appreciate you watching!
That unit is an Art-Net to DMX interface so it should work with Vibrio on an iPad, but I've never seen any examples of anyone using it on anything but a PC. I'd be curious to know if you can get it up and running with an IOS setup. Thanks for watching.
Hello! Nice video('s)! - Can i have a live-screen of about 12 submasters with this app? - Can i make a live (theatre) crossfade with faders in this app? -If so, can you demo this for me? Thx!
In Vibrio, when you enter edit mode for a particular scene you will see faders for every parameter you set up for your fixtures, so you could have up to 512 faders. I have to scroll to see more than 8 at a time on my iPad mini. If you enable scene layering in the settings you can open 2 scenes and basically crossfade by fading in the the second scene while the first is open. Thanks for the kind words and appreciate you watching!
@@LearnLizard Thanks for replying! I think that (submasters) won't easily do the trick for me. Only if i could have the 1st 8 faders with only dimmerlevels of different groups of lamps. So 1st fader: dimmerlevel of all floorspots, 2nd fader: dimmerlevel of all uplights, 3rd fader: dimmerlevel of all frontlights, 4th fader: dimmerlevel of all backlights etc.. And these faders must be all in on live-screen. The x-fade with faders you propose might do some trick but should stretch to the next cue's too. So 1 --> 2 --> 3 --> 4 etc..That seems not possible. Possibility for theatre X-fade by hand is very versatile to have.
Is there such a lighting program where I can make up my scenes in real time. I want to be able to record light sequences as I operate them manually in time with music. Then I want to be able to overlay each one with another one to create a full scene. Do you, or anyone else know of such a program where this can be done? Same as multi-tracking recordings of musical instruments.
The best way I know to do that is to use MIDI control to trigger the scenes or chases you have preprogrammed. You would use a MIDI sequencer to record the cues in real time and then play it back for an automated show. Here are a couple examples showing how: ua-cam.com/video/TlQPGW-gHGE/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Mk0bUIiCQqk/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/-jNu8EJM9m8/v-deo.html
You should be able to get it there. The eDMX1 PRO has been replaced by the The eDMX1 MAX. You can check the availability here: dmxking.com/artnetsacn/edmx1-max Appreciate you watching!
Needing some help here! I am using a eDMX1 Pro and got a Netgear wiFi router and got it set up. When I go ito Vibrio, the Connection Status says "connected to unknown network. The IP Address is right and Subnet Mask too. They read as my router shows. When I go to ArtNet Unicast I click on the 10.10.11.12 that it shows but there's nothing in the Art-Net Nodes to select. Havent been able to get any farther than this. Any input would be great!
I have the same issue, have you figured out a fix, I mean it has been 2 years. I have noticed that if I turn off artnet unicast the interface starts flashing blue and stops so it seems to be connected in some way
This might be the way your lights work with Vibrio. You could try programming a scene with "everything off" and then turn on "scene layering" When you turn off a scene with "everything off" still open, everything will turn off. I know its a bit crazy, but its a way to make it work if your lights don't turn off automatically (I have some older PAR lights like that) Hope that helps and good luck!
Hi again. Thank´s for answering me in so short time. However Vibrio connection status says, connected to wifi Ip adress is the same as my smart dmx interface showing on my Ipad, and the subnet mask is also the same. Art Net Unicast says:same as the connection, but mydmxGO does not show the light connected as to mydmxGO app ? I really like the Vibrio, we ´ll see if I and you can solve this problem. Should get in touch with some data specialist´s :) I´m sure that Vibrio looks the right connection now, earlier it says my wifi router at home as connection, but i plugged it out to be sure that it looks for the right connection.
Now I understand why I have connection but no communication. MydmxGo does not support Art Net, sorry but thrue. Thanks anyway for all the help I got from you.
@@LearnLizard would this solve my problem? In the manual for MydmxGO it says: Buy Art-Net (iPad only) - Buy the in-app purchase to be able to output to 1 Art-Net universe.
@@graylingfisher I'm not really familiar with the mydmxGO system, but it sounds like if you can get it to output to a 1 Art-Net universe, Vibrio should be able to connect.
Hey really appreciate the video,it’s awesome. Just a question,do we always need a router? Can’t we go directly from the ipad ( Ethernet to USB adapter) to the edmx pro & then to the light? Do we need a router at all times? Plz suggest.
Thanks for the kind words and great question. I wondered the same thing when I was first setting up my iPad. I believe there is a way to do it by buying an Lightning to Ethernet Adapter: redpark.com/products/ethernet-adapters/ and plugging that directly into the DMX interface. I don't think it will work with Vibrio (you need a higher end app like Luminair) and by the time you go to the expense and complication of setting it up it would have been easier and cheaper to just go wireless.
@@LearnLizard That’s true it would be easier to go wireless, but still can’t figure out why I cannot run the app to control the lights?😔 I have the edmx pro 1 connected, really getting frustrated cause your video makes it look so easy but I am struggling 🤦🏽 what else should I look out for? Any settings you think I am missing?
@@Amigoes99 When you hit the WIFI Icon in Vibrio and look at the Connection Status, does it show the network name you created on your router? If not, you need to go to your iPad's settings, then WIFI and connect. Let me know if you can do that and we can trouble shoot it from there...
@@LearnLizard it comes cup as unknown device, the router IP address does match ,so what next? what about using art-net as in the edmxpro address?is there a way around that?

Hi. Thanks for the great videos. If I get a eDMX2, with 2 outgoing plugs, is the set-up as simple as the eDMX? Thanks. edit: I found out the only difference is that the eDMX2 is factory default to a static IP, the eDMX1 comes set up as DHCP. But either can be switched with the eDMX Config Utility; it's just installing an application that you download from dmxking.com to control the settings of any of the eDMX devices. However, the DMXking ultraDMX2 PRO Ethernet/USB DMX Controller comes set up as DHCP, as does the eDMX1, which sounds simpler.
It sounds like you know way more about DMX interfaces than I do LOL! I'm not much good at IT Tech stuff but the support guy at dmxking was super great at helping with my question and I was up and running right away. Highly recommend that company.
After playing with the free version I upgraded and have since found a few bugs which I need resolved (Item and Effects menu have gone all white) however I can't get a reply from 'support' nor have they let me join the Facebook Group. Have you had this problem? It's been 2 weeks now and lack of support, contact or feedback is very frustrating. Have you had a better experience?
I upgraded to the 256 Channel version and never experienced any bugs so far. I have never tried to contact the developer (Toast Mobile) but have noticed that they haven't updated their website or posted anything on their "blog" for quite a while. Sorry to hear they aren't very good at responding. I'm hoping that the app continues to be supported through future upgrades of IOS.
Actually no. Once everything is set up and configured (which requires internet access) the router creates its own network that the iPad connects to independent of any outside paid connections. Thanks for watching!
The eDMX1 PRO is actually way easier to set up than the LM-3R. Plus they have great tech support if you need it. Would recommend going with it if you can.
The truss is a Pro Audio DJ Portable Truss like this one: www.amazon.com/Audio-Light-Lighting-Portable-Section/dp/B00SS5QRQU and the stands are On-Stage Crank-Up stands similar to this: www.amazon.com/Stage-LS7805QIK-Power-Crank-Up-Lighting/dp/B078YMMJG7/ref=sr_1_12?keywords=crank+up+light+stand&qid=1580580197&s=musical-instruments&sr=1-12 Thanks for watching!
Looking at the eDMX manual it implies there’s a lot of IP setting up to do prior to use. Is it ‘out of the box’ use when connected to a router and used as you describe here?
When I set mine up it worked perfectly out of the box with both the Netgear router and my Airport Express. I saw all those IP settings in the manual too. I think is has to do with connecting directly to a PC and configuring it to work with other software. Wish I understood network tech stuff better...
The MIDI functionality in Vibrio is very basic (unfortunately) I had hoped to use IAA but no luck. For now I believe a hardwired interface is the only way to make it work.

I just became a DMX light afficionado in one night, thanks to all your videos. I think at my next party people are going to have seizures !
Thanks for watching all those videos!! (and please make sure you have the paramedics invited to your next party)
“Hey guys it’s Steve with simple DMX”
**Has 12 lights behind**
Ha Ha! I guess maybe not THAT simple. (but for guys that run huge rigs 12 lights is a tiny setup)
actually there is 11 fixtures, but still ;)
thanks this is much simpler than I thought, thanks
Glad to hear! The hardest part for me was setting up the router and interface which luckily you only need to do once. After that the app is pretty easy to figure out. Appreciate you watching.
super professional, thanks from London, Uk.

Great video brother! Have you had any luck using wireless transceiver and receivers on the lights
Thanks for the comment and you must be clairvoyant because I'm working on a wireless dmx video right now!
@@LearnLizard So so helpful - I'll try this out. Even for a complete novice, your channel and insight is a goldmine so, again, thank you!
Great videos my friend. Learned a lot from you. Please keep it up.

Woah that’s a big setup !
Adding in a laser for upcoming video- stay tuned and thanks for watching!

So well done!! Thanks!
Appreciate those words of encouragement and thanks for watching!
Ima use this rig, just hooked up to QLC+ and my budget lighting controller is made.
Thats good to hear! I'm glad its working for you.
I also have the mini moving heads, I’m trying to connect it to my airstream DMX, what fixture name would it be under?
I now am controlling my lights with Vibrio and the eDMX 1 PRO. Works super well!
I'm glad to hear its working!
Wow! That’s easy! Thanks
Glad it was helpful! (and happy to hear that as setting up the router and interface can be a bit daunting the first time you try)
Appreciate you watching...
@@LearnLizard that makes sense, thank you for the reply and your videos.
I absolutely love your videos man👍. Perhaps the best site on youtube. I'm going to buy all the gadgets you talk about here. What brand is the truss you have the fixtures mounted to? Which PAR 64 lights are you using?
Thanks for your kind words! The truss is a Pro Audio DJ Portable Truss like this one:
www.amazon.com/Audio-Light-Lighting-Portable-Section/dp/B00SS5QRQU
My par lights are 36 x 3W RGB PAR 64 lights that I bought on eBay a long time ago (from a seller in Southern California called "musicsupply"
Nice video! Does vibrio works with Chinese lights too/none branded?
Yes- its really easy to make new profiles. It will work with any DMX enabled fixture. Appreciate you watching!
Great videos!
Appreciate you watching!

Just got into the DMX game. Can I use the hotspot on my phone send wifi to my router?
The router actually takes the DMX data from the interface and then creates its own network that the iPad connects to. The hotspot on your phone won't have any use in this kind of setup. Good question and appreciate you watching!
would you do my dmx go tutorial? the ones ive seen by other Yt-ers are very confusing.
I've been wanting to do a myDMX Go video for a while now. The whole setup is a little bit expensive so I need ADJ to sponsor me LOL!
It seems impossible to get support on Vibrio anywhere - so you are my last hope 😁🤞
I remote control Vibrio using midi and this has been working perfectly until recently.
Although it doesn't specifically address your issue, this video (using Vibreo) might give you some insight.
ua-cam.com/video/cXkpn6teBpY/v-deo.html
Good luck and I would love to know if you get it figured out. If you get too frustrated you might try this app: StageLight. Its inexpensive and has a lot more MIDI functionality. Plus the developer is very responsive. Appreciate you watching...
I got the DMX interface suggested and a small netgear WiFi but the iPad and the message I get is “unsecured” and no genie ... any suggestions ?
Thanks

Yes and Yes
1) There is a dimmer function on the far right pane for each scene that will dim in real time
2) You can import saved files to another iPad running Vibrio

Can I use a launchpad s as a midi controller on an iPad or Samsung tablet using one of the softwares that are used to control dmx on a tablet?
You definitely can with an iPad (and most likely with Android devices) Vibrio gives you limited control triggering scenes and sequences with MIDI. Here's a video that shows how: ua-cam.com/video/cXkpn6teBpY/v-deo.html
There is also an app called StageLight that I have been using recently that gives you much more control. I use a Novation Launchkey and it works great.
Great video ! But ı have a question. Can we put music automation for seq?
Please do I need an internet connection on this before its works, I mean do I need to subscribe to a data before its work?
Good question. You don't need internet (data subscription) to make this work. The router creates its own network that the iPad connects to. Thanks for watching.
@@LearnLizard Oh thank you very much sir
Does it matter what type of router I use
I believe that most basic routers can be configured to work with an ethernet to dmx adapter (I've set up two different ones) but its kind of tricky for non network guys like me.
Should I configure it from iPad or from the NetGear, Does the NetGear has a screen where I can see what to select? please help me, sir

Normally they mount to light stands. (I have 2 On-Stage Crank-up light stands) I've never seen that type of truss hanging from the ceiling but you could probably do it if you have adequate points to rig it to. You HAVE to make sure you are safely doing this using approved hardware and methods or you will be putting everyone below at risk!

Thanks!

My experience with my first interface was that it was very difficult to set up while the eDMX1 was effortless (as I had read in many reviews) Ley me know how it goes and good luck!
sad, vibrio is apple only, I will be super happy when android version comes out
I agree- I've looked for similar apps for Android and never found anything that works as well. Appreciate you watching...
@@LearnLizard Thanks. Upon further research i believe you're 100% correct in thinking that wont do the job. Thanks for replying

how do I know how many channels a DMX light have sir and how do I control different moving hed at a time with the iPod
If you can tell me the exact make and model number of your lights I can probably tell you how many channels each one has.
Step 5 is still unclear to me… do you have a video that explains a lil bit more about interface?
I really like the eDMX 1 Pro interface because it is pretty much "plug and play". Connect it to the router with an Ethernet cable, plug a DMX cable into it and your light and power it up via USB. Most of the set up challenge comes with configuring the router. If you have any problems, DMXking tech support is really good. They have always gotten me up and running when I've had issues...

Hello to Nigeria and thank you for the kind words. To make this work you need an Ethernet to DMX adapter that works over Art-Net. There are many different ones available but I really recommend the eDMX1 pro as it is the simplest and probably the least expensive.
@@LearnLizard okay thanks sir

Can I avoid the router by using a lightning to Ethernet adapter out of a iPad and running the Ethernet cable right to the DMX converter.
Good question. Not with this hardware/software combo that I am aware of. If you want to avoid a wireless setup there are ways to do it if you use a special converter in place of the router (made by Redpark) and a more sophisticated app (Luminair) Appreciate you watching.
LearnLizard sounds like the simplest way is to use the set up you recommend. Thanks for the quick reply!
How do I sync my lighting sequences with my songs using Mac OS? Do you have an alternative to DMXIS? It is quite expensive.
Here's a solution using the free version of Show Buddy Active which you can run as a VST plugin in your DAW. (you need to connect to an iPad or buy the full version of SBA to make this work)

Is Vibrio only for iPad?
Yes, unfortunately iPad only. There are a few ios apps like Luinair that will run on iPad as well as iPhone, and a few Android apps I have seen such as "DMX controller" by Future Sensor. Appreciate you watching.
Looking to do this with our lights, do you know if Vibrio will work with the Chauvet DMX-AN2?
The DMX-AN 2 is an Ethernet-to-DMX adapter so it SHOULD work with Vibrio however I haven't tested that one. Setting up an adapter with a router can be a bit tricky- that's why I went with the eDMX1 PRO. Simple to use and good tech support. Good luck and appreciate you watching!
Can I use the “Chauvet DJ DMX-AN 2” with this app? :-)
That unit is an Art-Net to DMX interface so it should work with Vibrio on an iPad, but I've never seen any examples of anyone using it on anything but a PC. I'd be curious to know if you can get it up and running with an IOS setup. Thanks for watching.
@@LearnLizard I’ll keep you posted for sure. Thank you SOOO much for your videos :-)
Hi, just wondered if you ever got the iPad set up with Vibrio via the Chauvet DMX-AN2?
Here are a couple examples showing how:

Can you roughly estimate how much the iPad, the software, the router and the extension costs
Software- $39.99 for 256 channels
Router- $26.99
Interface- $129.00
iPad Mini 2- You can get these for less than $100 now days.
Sorry- I'm going to have to research this one a bit and get back to you. Networking issues is not my forte.
I have the same issue, have you figured out a fix, I mean it has been 2 years. I have noticed that if I turn off artnet unicast the interface starts flashing blue and stops so it seems to be connected in some way
When I turn off all my scenes my lights all keep moving and my laser stays on. Do you know why it does this?
This might be the way your lights work with Vibrio. You could try programming a scene with "everything off" and then turn on "scene layering" When you turn off a scene with "everything off" still open, everything will turn off. I know its a bit crazy, but its a way to make it work if your lights don't turn off automatically (I have some older PAR lights like that) Hope that helps and good luck!

Thanks for the kind words and great question. I wondered the same thing when I was first setting up my iPad. I believe there is a way to do it by buying an Lightning to Ethernet Adapter:
redpark.com/products/ethernet-adapters/
and plugging that directly into the DMX interface.
@@Amigoes99 The first time I was setting up my eDMX pro I had a problem understanding how to configure the router. I had to call dmxking tech support and they were fantastic. Got me up and running right away. Sorry I couldn't be more help on this one.
How much this divice sir
Hi- Normally you can buy the DMX interface for $139 here: amzn.to/3hpgC0C but they are temporarily out of stock.
The Netgear N300 Wi-Fi router is $80 and you can buy it here:

Super 👌👌👌

@@LearnLizard Did you manage to get accepted into their Facebook page? Which version iPad are you using? I have an iPad2.
Are you dasie changing all your lights together?
Yes- (lots of cables!)
Appreciate you watching
Does this still work for today? like, do you need anything else today or no?
Yep- everything runs well. Happily, Vibrio still works with the latest iPadOS (14.6)
Appreciate you watching!
@@LearnLizard Thank you so much!!
so are you paying for internet?
Actually no. Once everything is set up and configured (which requires internet access) the router creates its own network that the iPad connects to independent of any outside paid connections. Thanks for watching!
wow but to use dmx 1 pro thair is more to it guys
The eDMX1 PRO is actually way easier to set up than the LM-3R. Plus they have great tech support if you need it. Would recommend going with it if you can.
What lighting rigging that u use ??
The truss is a Pro Audio DJ Portable Truss like this one:

and the stands are On-Stage Crank-Up stands similar to this:

Looking at the eDMX manual it implies there’s a lot of IP setting up to do prior to use. Is it ‘out of the box’ use when connected to a router and used as you describe here?
When I set mine up it worked perfectly out of the box with both the Netgear router and my Airport Express. I saw all those IP settings in the manual too. I think is has to do with connecting directly to a PC and configuring it to work with other software. Wish I understood network tech stuff better...
I wish I had enough space and money for all that. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I'm glad I'm out of space and money or I would get even more! LOL
Hahaha cool stuff I really like them and I will start saving please do more videos or maybe a giveaway
I'm curious to know if I can control vibrio from my DAW using wifi MIDI, similar to Luminair. Do you know if this is possible?
The MIDI functionality in Vibrio is very basic (unfortunately) I had hoped to use IAA but no luck. For now I believe a hardwired interface is the only way to make it work.
@@LearnLizard Thank you for the response! Maybe someday!
