Again, another great video! Other tutorials have often rushed through this feature making the changes so fast that it's hard to follow what they are doing. You, on the other hand, slow your pace down enough, and show plenty of screen shots zoomed in enough, that I can finally understand this tool which I've not used very often. Thanks!
I can see that, too. This is the first time I have the chance to really take hold of the concept of "HSL Secondary"! I should've watched this video before! My acknowledgment to you, sir!
This video was super helpful! In my job, we shoot product videos, and some of our products feature blue LED lights for effect. Sadly, these lights show up as purple on video. This video has solved what used to be a sticky and time-consuming problem. I used go through a lot of painstaking work to change the coloring of only the product while leaving the rest of the frame unaffected. I'm so glad to now have this much better, simpler technique! Many thanks, Colin! Keep up the good work with VideoRevealed!
Extremely well explained. Thanks for taking the time to make a proper video about this. It can be so confusing in the beginning :) I will keep following your videos! Thanks!
Oh, and I noticed this video isn't in your Breaking down the Lumetri Color Panel playlist. Seems like it fits there. :) And I was curious when I watched them (helpful - getting redundant saying that.) why you skipped it. Maybe it wasn't an option when you created those videos? And I was wondering if you have videos on using lumetri to color correct? I'd love to see how you use it in your own work, or by example.
It slipped my mind to add it but it's in the Playlist now; along with animating Lumetri. Yes, I know I need to do a tutorial on grading, it's just not an easy subject and it would take a lot of time to develop something good. Most of the training on UA-cam is all clickbait with promises to "learn to grade in 5 minutes!". I am bugging someone I know (who had a hand in grading Mad Max: Fury Road) to come on my show and just give us a glimpse of what they do but I just can't get them to commit. It would be crazy cool but it would not be in Premiere Pro, it would be on a very expensive Baselight system. But even with that, I'd take the time to convert the same techniques (where possible) to Lumetri. I'll keep trying.
I understand about not being able to condense it down to a short snippet. :) It's funny. I have a lot of people who make suggestions on my channel to produce this or that type of video and I'm thinking, "I can hardly get up the videos I am already making." Most people don't understand how long it takes to produce a good video. So don't let me pressure you into it. But... Here I am being one of 'those people'... Perhaps just a screen capture while you are working without a lot of voice over? The problem with that is that it might not fit with your normal format and I know I don't like breaking format on my channel. I also can't hold back on trying to make the video more polished and that means time. :) So perhaps just set the idea aside and mark it as 'maybe down the road'.
Hi Revealer, I could not really get things done although i followed your explanation so closely. It affects rest of the visual as well. Why is this happening?
My version doesnt have the invert button next to the color/grey panel, it only has a reset button there. Do you know where it went on the 2020 version?
I have a video where people are using life jackets and they are orange. Somehow this color is also affected with low saturation when I want to correct just the skin. Should I use selection area? masking?
I'm guessing that you're talking about changing the skin and not really removing it. For that look in the description for the beauty plug-in I talked about.
Your video was really helpful. However I have a doubt .. Should I use the mask tool or the HLS to colour a certain area cause both of them seem to do the same thing
Use a secondary because trying to accurately move a mask is not something Premiere Pro does very well. Masks that track along with footage have to be 100% pixel accurate and for that you need After Effects or Mocha.
Hey Colin do you know how do they re record all the audio after the shooting is done for feature films. Do you know how do they sync the video with the audio? Do they have special equipment for this? Do they use special software for this? I know that plural eyes
In professional productions, all the clips (audio and video) are already synced via Timecode. Usually the audio recorder is outputting live Timecode and all cameras are syncing to that and writing that same Timecode onto the recorded video. Here's an interesting product suited to the indie filmmakers: tentaclesync.com/
I love my Canon 5D MkIII. The only downside to shooting with a DSLR is making sure the batteries are charged. My main camera is the original Blackmagic 2.5k Cinema Camera. I bought it because my 5D was turning itself off during the shoot and it was driving me nuts. The Blackmagic camera plugs into power so I can run it for hours. I also use a 480GB SSD so I can record for hours. I love my 5D but for studio shooting, the Blackmagic is great, but it's crappy for low light.
Hi Colin! I am a new user of Premiere Pro and I'm having difficulty using the colour wheels. It is far too difficult to control selections within the wheel - cursor point shoots all around the circle but won't go where I want it not even when I click instead. VERY frustrating. Is there an option to change the wheel to sliders like in FCPX? I know it's a glitch obviously as there doesn't seem to be an issue for those making tutorials :)
Unless Adobe finally fixed it (doubtful), what's seen in the last minute here really isn't possible to continue tweaking: the Lumetri color panel controls only affect one of any several Lumetri effects applied to a clip. This is a severe workflow bug and what Adobe needs to do is facilitate (quite easily) just activating any individual Lumetri effect applied, for discrete control.
This tutorial might help as long as you're not moving the camera: ua-cam.com/video/ibxDtfpS8es/v-deo.html If the camera is moving, then you need to track objects in the scene and rotoscope out the things you want removed. This is extremely difficult work to do correctly so if you are going to try this, get ready for a huge learning curve and a lot of work.
Does the HSL settings I make during my color edit still apply when exporting as a lut ? I’ve made a color edit basic, creative and hsl and exporting a lut a reusing it on the same project - looks completely different! Why ? Exporting a look file does contain all my settings 100% . I know cube does not contain vignette etc

Wow, thank you!

Every time I have a challenge in Premiere, I find the answer here. Thanks again Colin

Thank you sooooo much sir! This was so informative especially the last part of introducing several instances of lumetri colour...

Hi Revealer, I could not really get things done although i followed your explanation so closely. It affects rest of the visual as well. Why is this happening?
Check the key you're creating and there's a good chance the key is not properly isolating the area you want to change.
Really good tutorial
Thanks.
awesome video, defiantly will help.
That's great.
My version doesnt have the invert button next to the color/grey panel, it only has a reset button there. Do you know where it went on the 2020 version?
I am not sure why you can't see it. Sorry.
its there you will need to stretch out your lumetri window, the reset icon Is blocking it
I have a video where people are using life jackets and they are orange. Somehow this color is also affected with low saturation when I want to correct just the skin. Should I use selection area? masking?
You have to draw a mask around the faces and isolate the effect.
Great tutorial!!!!!
Glad you liked it.

I don't have the inverse option (beside color grey) in premier pro , what do i do?
Its v14.0 / 2020
What I'm showing has been in Premiere Pro for several years so I'm not sure why you're not seeing it.
Probably the "Reset" button is hiding it because your menu is not opened up enough, had the same issue :)
@@crusher1980 i feel so stupid now
thanks for all the tutorials, besides the point, shooting with Canons DSLRs what is your opinion?.

There is no way to change it to sliders. It's odd that you're having those problems, I've need experienced that.
thank u
it would be glad that if u use a microphone can pick up ur sound more loudly
The gain level for my tutorials is almost clipping so I really can't make it any louder.
I dont have the HSL Secondary control panel.. should I upgrade?
If you are already using the Lumetri Color Panel, then you already have Creative Cloud so yes, upgrading would make sense.
What the difference between HSL secondary and Hue Saturation Curves?
There's some overlap (secondary control was added earlier) but secondary control is a little more "focused".
How can I select specific part from HSL and apply a lut only for that part. Davinci resolve can do it. I cant find a way to do that in premiere. o
There is no way to do that with the Lumetri Color Panel.
Unless Adobe finally fixed it (doubtful), what's seen in the last minute here really isn't possible to continue tweaking: the Lumetri color panel controls only affect one of any several Lumetri effects applied to a clip. I hear ya. Just so you know, Adobe is putting major resources on updating the whole Lumetri workflow.
Sir, Thank You :)

Sir, I want to give a color border on a masking video which can motion with border frame ...Please ...I trying but fail ...
That's not possible in Premiere Pro.
How to remove background in moving video
If you've never done any rotoscoping, then it's a very difficult job. Watch Mary Poplin, she's the best: vimeo.com/75117160

Can you keyframe the HSL-sec changes?
Yes, there are keyframes for all changes.

I’ve made a color edit basic, creative and hsl and exporting a lut a reusing it on the same project - looks completely different! Why ? Exporting a look file does contain all my settings 100% . No. LUTs do not have the ability to save isolated areas or keys. Adobe's Look format does but it's only compatible with Adobe video applications.
@@VideoRevealed hey I have solved the Problem :)... it was just a bug . After restarting- it worked ...:)
