I love plant time lapse. I feel like plants feel time different from us.

Well everyone feels time differently, like Einstein said time is relative. But yea, they probably don’t even have a concept of time. And possibly even feeling, and every sense.

We left these pumpkins up against our fence last halloween and pretty much forgot about it til we noticed some weeks ago that the pumpkin mustve fertilized its own seeds when we left it and is now thriving. Right now its at the flowering stage and they are eye catching. Very very beautiful. Cant wait to see how many pumpkins we get and remind you we did absolutely nothing. Just left pumpkins to rot and become one with nature again.

Update: its September 29th and we have already harvested some pumpkins. Ranging from little tiny ones that my daughters loved and a couple regular decent sized pumpkins. Going to do the same as last year and so on! Thanks for all the likes and i hope you’re enjoying this fall weather as much as i am!

I think most vine plants are like that. When I first started planting stuff, last year, I grew butternut squash. It grows the same way, with the length and big yellow flowers and all.
I planted ONE seed. 4 months later, the vine was almost 15 feet long and grew 18 butternut squash.

So odd that the female flower arrived first, it’s supposed to be the other way around normally. But funnily enough, the same thing happened to me, fortunately though, I was growing more then one pumpkin plant so I used the male flower from another plant to pollinate it by hand. Now I have a small pumpkin/squash growing. 🎃

Great job doing the videoing of this! I like the shots you get and how you put it all together. Next time maybe have 2 or 3 plants growing nearby so you can have a better chance of having one of them available to pollinate. Please make note of when you do pollinate it if you do though.

Long story short the pumpkin I had from last fall started to deteriorate so one of my sons scooped it up and put it in the compost bin...seeds and all. My pumpkins are on day 81 and i have 4 polinated female flowers so 4 pumpkins coming. It was wierd becuse about 3 weeks ago the first flower on my plant to emerge was female i had about 4 females before finally getting a male. Now the plant is doing good. 1 of the pollinated pumpkins is way larger than the rest so it may be the biggest in the end. It looks like your plant got a diesease called angular leaf spot, where parts of the leaves turn yellow and the yellow parts slowly get bigger before turning brown and shriveling up. also remember pumpkins need much more space than that to grow. Also what ended up happening to that pumpkin.

Could be too much water not enough nutrients so the plant only produces the female this way it can be fertilized by a nearby plant with male flowers. I have actually heard people go to neighbors or a farm to get male flowers, they last a few days if kept cool and moist, they do not have to be the same type of pumpkin.
