10/10 #4 GYRO is meat which has been marinaded in a spicy yoghurt mix and then roasted in the oven or grilled (I use chicken) served in a split pitta bread with tzatziki, cucumber and tomatoes.
Amount of ingredients are at the bottom (towards the end of page) of the linked site! Tried it today (along with soft pita and tzatziki) and it was amazing :) Thank you for the amazing recipe 😊 Oh and the recipe does not mention temperature but recommends that the chicken gets charred and reaches 75 ‘C . It took me 200’C 20 minutes front and back (total 40 min). I think recipe means to say put it on the highest heat get it charred and reach the temp!
You don’t need “measurements”. Why do some people actually want these when cooking 😂 it’s literally to your taste. Have some common sense and add as much as you need.
OMG! I followed the marinade recipe from your website and it's ssoooo good! Gonna print a copy to have it handy cause I'm super sure I'm making it again. Thx! 😋
And you are absolutely correct! Shawarma, doner kebab from Turkey, and gyro are all kissing cousins. Also, Mexican tacos al pastor are based on shawarma!
Made this for dinner tonight, and YUM!!! Couldn't find it on your website, so I eyeballed the herbs/spices in the marinade, but still came out amazing! I also didn't have cumin, so used Allspice in place of that and the cinnamon, and also used regular white vinegar because that's what I had, but still delicious. The tzatziki was amazing, possibly too much mint for me personally. And the pitas were sooo good, though to get 8 I would have to double the recipe 🤔 All in all though, absolutely rate this and will 100% be making it again!
Hi Breanna! So glad to hear this! Sorry about the delay in getting it on the site! Will be doing better next year with my savoury recipes as I start them up again! N x
Was going to make this.. but it shouldn't take me 30 minutes to find a recipe. Looked through the whole website and couldn't find it. Really annoying that you can't just put a direct link to your recipe.
Hi Jon. Click the link in the description box. The recipe card is at the bottom of the page. I assure you the jump to recipe button works, I just used it and the ingredient measurements are also provided in the recipe card.
Forgive my questioning, but why add the diced cucumber on the pita bread when the tzatziki already has cucumber inside it? It just seems redundant to me.

I’ve been craving gyros for a week. I need this now
Yum! I'm definitely trying this. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Great job and it wasn’t hard at all to find the recipe on your website! Making this tonight!
So glad!

Yeah dont bother including measurements or temperature, I'll figure that out myself.
Seems like you also don’t bother looking at the description when it comes to food recipe videos….
@@Poppies__there’s no measurements at the link in the description.
You can also use common sense and the end result is delicious.

Passive aggressive much?
That looks delicious. I’m buying the ingredients now.
Thank you, I did this with sliced pork belly - delicious. X

There are no measurements on the website
It looks like a shawarma, I will try it soon cause definetly looks delicious 😋😋😋

My new idea gyros for wawa.

When I was in Greece, they added tzatziki just to the pork gyros, and for the chicken one, they had a different sauce
Like a dill sauce? I once had a chicken gyro with some sort of sauce that had mustard in it.
Looks good.
Where’s the recipe? Went to site and couldn’t find ingredient portions
Is there a link where just the recipe can be found?
There ingredients aren’t at the bottom and the “jump” link does not work

I❤gyro more than shawarma 🥰💖🇮🇳❤️
do you grill for 15 mintues on 1 side then another 15 minutes on thr other side?? also what temprature
Correct :) on the highest temp your oven goes to!
@@TheScranLineEveryday mine goes up to 370 °C / 700°F. Isn’t it too high?
Yum 😋
So good
What meat is actually supposed to be used for it the be a gyro? Lamb, right? Trying to make this tonight.
In Greece, it's mainly pork, but you also get chicken, beef and lamb. For vegetarians grilled halloumi is fantastic.
Forgive my questioning, but why add the diced cucumber on the pita bread when the tzatziki already has cucumber inside it? It just seems redundant to me.
tzatziki doesnt taste much of cucumber, so having it fresh will give an aditional layer of taste.
You are right. Authentic greek pita gyro doesn't have cucumber in it.
@@megasaIexandros That wasn't the argument I was trying to argue.
Yum!!!
I CANNOT find the recipe amounts
Where did you look?
what temp for broil?
high

Turkish yogurt
Everyone knows that Greeks invented yogurt and invented turkey. So…
@@TheScranLineEveryday Of course, but apparently we have had yoghurt like this throughout history.
Authentic=Pork
Authentic is whatever I like. Lol
about authentic, missing potatoes,
Most parts of Greece and Greeks in Australia certainly don’t add hot chips lol
eh?

Pork gyros Greek old traditional recipe and preparation
Gyro is Rooted in a Rich Cooking History
The origin of grilling meats on a skewer can be traced to the Eastern Mediterranean in the Mycenean Greek and Minoan periods. The Gyro (the technique of vertical spit of stacked meat slices and cutting it off while cooking)first arrived in Greece in the 1920s, brought from Constantinople(Turkey) and Smyrna by refugees. They don't use Pork, instead lamb or Chicken.
Cool. Thanks for the history lesson. I don’t care. And I did use chicken you 💩 head
Add feta bruh
This recipe wouldn't have been complete without the totally unnecessary tags about what ingredients you need in order to make 'real' greek food.
Robert, get a life.
Word up! Get a life is right!
Very good Turkish kebab 🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷
I think you'll find this is Greek.
Kebab and gyro are diffrent foods
Far from authentic
Just do NOT call it GYRO (as in Jairo). It is pronounced YIRO. JAIRO is a total no-no.
I envy the problems you have in your life if this is what you decided to spend your time commenting on a video.

chicken breast is a lot better.
Why do you think that?
This is not real recipe.

😂SO Not Authentic and BTW the Cucumber is called Persian Not Lebanese Cucumber 😂
Do you have no job? Do you need something better to do with your life? Jesus Christ lol
Turkish you mean. It's Turkish style kebab copied from that. Greeks never used yogurt until Turks taught them.
No. I don’t mean Turkish. I’m very clear on what I meant, and I simply don’t care if you’ve caught feelings. Move into another channel.
