NOTICE: This video was made in 2008 - before GoPro's, steadycams and smartphones offering hi definition video. It's sole purpose is to give a representation of riding the Westport folding trike at speed.
I wish you could have just showed us how it fit inside the trunk of a car
I''m very interested in this bike. I'd like to see more of the folding mechanism, but most of all, I'd like to hear from current owners about theft prevention. What kind of locking system has been found most effective in preventing somebody from walking off with my bike.
There is a quick release on the seat post so it can easily be adjusted in height. If you are referring to adjusting the seat more forward or rearward, the seat is not on rails; however, I offer an upgraded seat that comes with rails so you can do this. The upgraded seat is not as wide but it is a gel seat so it's comfortable. The gel seat also has LED lights built into the rear so drivers can see you in low light conditions.
This product has been updated. It now comes with front and rear brakes.
Yes.
You'll need to bolt on the front wheel, front fender, handlebars and basket. Add air to the tires and you're ready to go.
:-)
How well does it go up steep hills? I need a bike for my son to ride to school. He is 14 and has balance issues, but there is a large hill right before he gets to school. How hard is it to go up?
Single speeds are always a gearing compromise. If the hill is really steep, you'd need a "granny" gear (which this trike does not have). Alternately, you could have a local shop change the gear ratio to a granny but then the trike would be too slow when not going up the hill... Your best bet is a multi-speed trike; we sell those as well.
Just got one of these but the seat keeps sliding down.
Does this bike work for adults between 6'2" and 6"5"? and how much is shipping?
I bet walmart sells some similar ones under $200, but you have to do some adjustments to it after buying it.
Nope. No one sells a new adult trike for below $200, especially one that folds such as this.

does the basket come off?
does it fold any more then in the video you showed ??
Yes. Front wheel will tuck inside of rear wheels. Seat post will completely retract or can be removed. Using an allen wrench, handlebars can be turned down.
what is the speed
and how any gears
I know this is an old message but maybe someone can tell me if it fits on a 38" elevator when it is folded, does it takes a lot of space? Is it too heavy?
Rolls folded like a wheelbarrow (push via the hand grips when folded). Fits through our 33" wide front door with some room to spare.
Sweet.
How much does the bike weigh? Is a bigger seat available?
Steel frame so the trike weighs 54 lbs. You can change out the seat to one with a larger saddle.
@ntnguye4 Yes it is.
The wind blurred your voice a little when you were talking about the height accommodation--could someone 6'3" ride this trike?
The seatpost that ships with the bike is relatively short so you would need to change that our to give yourself more leg extension.
how heavy is it?
54 lbs.
@Captmiloman $249. Visit RideTHISbike (dot) com for more.
How is it up hills, I'm older not very muscular.
The Westport is geared low; however, it is a single speed. Also, we have no hills to try in New Orleans.
Based on the limited info from you, my best suggestion is to go with a trike with more than 1 speed and, in particular, a climbing gear.
no interest in single speed.
Then you should consider the Evo 8 folding trike - 8 speeds, alloy frame, 24" wheels, disc brakes... it's lighter and more stable than the Westport but costs @ $500.
