Love this place... very busy but when you get out from the centre, and walk around the edges, it's absolutely magical. The most incredible unforgettable place
We've been to Venice a few times and loved our 3 times there in January for my wife's birthday. It has a lot less tourists at that time of year and at times you feel like you have the place to yourself, especially as we always base ourselves in the Cannaregio district which is away from the touristy areas but close enough to enjoy a walk or vaporetto ride to the main sites. BTW, if you do visit Venice again, our favourite bar is 'Il Santo Bevitore' which has a great vibe and a wonderful selection of draught beers 😊🍻🍺🍻🍺
You're right, it almost felt as though Venice had been rented out to us for a few days. VERY nice exploring the city with only a fraction of the normal tourists. We'll definitely check out that bar if we're ever lucky enough to go back! 🍻
Great video. I enjoyed watching it. Just for info the bookstore with the steps made out of books. They haven’t been rained on. They are books that were damaged previously by flood water during acqua alta (which is why the books are now in tubs and gondolas) and the owner made the steps from the damaged books rather than throw them away. That’s why they look like they do. I liked the idea of counting bridges. Fun
You picked the perfect time to go. I was there in early June when it was warmer, around 30 degrees C (86 Fahrenheit), but starting to get very busy. Oh, and the construction work was still going on.
“Watermark” by Joseph Brodsky is all about his many travels to Venice in winter. I went for a day trip to Venice years ago, and I’d love to go back for a week in low season. To take the water taxis to various islands, see a football match (second oldest stadium in Italy).
Really enjoying your videos of your trip , looking forward to seeing Firenze next. Venice is magical, been many times, Florian’s being closed did save you serious money though, last September we had two coffees and two cakes, 72 euros! Oh that did include the orchestra playing!
@qlctravels My wife and I will. Do you go to Seville at any stage? It's jaw-dropping. The Spanish basically gave the Aztecs and Incas horses and influenza and took all their gold and silver, which seems to have ended up in the fantastic cathedral and churches of the city. Top top place...
All the hostels we stayed in had lockers for each person, so we were able to store all of our belongings or, if it was a small locker, our most valuable items whenever we were away.
Did I miss it, or did you miss it - The Bridge of Sighs? Oh, and it was noticeable how each of your responses to saving the other from walking into the water, were markedly different. Whilst Lauryn said nothing (on camera, at least), Brian's 😈musings on the 'lost opportunity' of having a more dramatic storyline, had that watery event occurred with Lauryn, whilst provoking comments about lost money and property and potential ill-health from the experience ( inferring rather strongly the extent of how BAD this would have been, with the further implication that such musings were UNWISE), aside from any tuts or filthy looks, I can't help but wonder if Brian suffered any off-camera consequences for this particular train of thought. 🤔
Great idea not executed well - that's Venice for me all over. For all the tourism it gets you'd think they'd spruce it up as I saw a lot of dilapidated, uncared for buildings/walls/bridges etc. Yes there are some interesting things to see but I'd not recommend anyone going out of their way to go there. More hype than substance - in my opinion, which of course means many may find it charming & delightful, going by the comments at least.👍 The child in me would also contemplated letting Lauren walk into the canal for not paying attention, but I would also have stopped her as that water is vile.

I adored Venice! I hope you get to do much more travel in the future! If you ever come to Sydney, Australia let me know.
Great video. I enjoyed watching it.

Thanks for the info! That actually makes the steps (and the shop in general) more interesting than we originally thought.
It was certainly an ingenious use of them. Obviously, the addition of the bookcase has catapulted the bookstore from hidden gem to everyone knows!

Still!?! Wow, we thought it was just a seasonal thing...

Venice is so beautiful ❤❤❤ Thank you for sharing!
Maybe Venice will go on my list after all. ❤
For sure!

Oh wow 😮 Yeah, maybe our wallets lucked out a bit there...
I'm there in September. £70 return from Bristol. Yowsah!!
Enjoy it! 😃

Sadly no, but it looks amazing 😍 Definitely adding it to our list!
I am surprised you guys, did not try out a Gondola.
We definitely thought about it! Maybe next time...
Will you vlog any weekend trips around Colorado? I have enjoyed this trip around Europe! 💜
We'll definitely make some Colorado videos in the future!
V. Nice
🤣
Just out of curiosity, how do you keep all your stuff safe when you are staying in a hostel?

It's just our dynamic 😊 No off-screen consequences; only laughs.

Quanta ignoranza!
@@enricacantori2984 none, I've been there and I was being kind in my comments.
As I said, my opinion, not ignorance, unlike your comment.
