@@WavyBoats yesxwe did
Poor pontoon boat needs a new owner. He should have stayed home. Yes I've been through Haulover.
The intro is far too long!
Love your channel, Happy 4th from Michigan! 💙🩵
That police boat cruised Haulover like a boss!
The Boston Whalers, regardless of size, seem to do very well in this heavy water.
Always interesting to see how quickly laughter turns into screams of panic.
It doesn't take being a rocket scientist to understand that pontoon boats are not designed for this kind of wave action
And he’s not even trimming the motor the right way
But if you do get caught on a lake/sea/inlet or with the wind causing such large waves.....
Get everyone back to behind or beside the helm position and let the bow rise up OVER the waves.....
trim the engine as much as possible (but hey 90hp on a long pontoon it isn't going to affect trim very much..
and everyone puts on lifejackets...
pontoons can break up...
@@JohnSmith-pl2bk LOL, yep! Captain ID10T there! Poor Benny. Moving the dead weight (passengers) towards the stern would have helped a bit. That skirting on the door took a beating before blowing off! We have a Benny too, but in a small inland lake up north.
@@Sgaming957 How do you know?
What the heck did the guy run up front for!!!?
Pontoons are wet rides in these conditions but the water runs right off the dexk just as easy, unlike a bow rider.
Old school Whaler any day of the week nothing gon a stop it😂
Love the Poontang boats with 25 fenders dangling off both sides. lololol
Pontoon boat, No PFD's, Passengers on Bow, Fenders Out, it's a haulover 4th of july classic.
I guess if you really dislike your family then a spin through Haulover on a pontoon may be for you.
Just doesn't seem like you can go wrong with a Boston Whaler
they'll bring you back pretty much but they all beat the hell out of you even the mega Dollar ones
Boston Whalers haven't looked very good either in these videos, LOL! I'm still trying to figure out what hull designs do best, but the "million" dollar Pardo and USCG boat so far do the best at slicing through waves and reducing hobby-horsing.
@@bfcks You must not do much open water boating. That Boston Whaler was pretty much text book for those waves.
I’ve caught air prop fully out of the water in a Whaler in Boston harbor. Great boats. Also loved our Zodiac, nothing like driving right onto the beach and being able to put your boat on the back of the truck.
Pontoon boat captain: "May I have some gravy with my stuffing ???"
Wow 7 min 43 seconds in beautiful shot 🥰
I'd take a 15' whaler through, but not a pontoon boat.
I'd take someone else's pontoon through that😂
Had a 13 with a 70. I don't think I would even try.
Pontoon boats should be heavily fined in that location by the US Coast Guard. Pontoon boats are for placid lakes; they are NOT designed for ANY wave action, and should be ILLEGAL in open water.
Thanks for telling us
Pontoons can handle this ....with a competent captain , which clearly this one is not.
I've seen several pontoons handle worse conditions just fine.
whaler / dusky
was on point
Yes smarter 360 tyruobg mak sure zero jey wash
@@sharonbraselton3135found the drunk at the inlet
Grateful that those guys on the jet ski were wearing PFD's
They were wearing electronic documents?? lol
You never go nuts to butts on a jet ski
I see someone was in the army. 😂
At least the Boston Whaler knows how to keep the bow up. He did well
That guy running behind the boat that came through at "smash the like button" was smooth as SILK
Love to see how a pontoon does if the passengers are all in the back of the boat
@@jeffj_flasmart man
Boston Whaler for the winners! Blue Top Legends did show us all how to do this ^^
Pontoon:
- Unavoidable stuffing
- BUT would be much less if:
- everyone was in the back
- engine trim up
- Bit more throttle
Agree 100%😊
wtf was that dude doing. Go stand in the BACK. Not the front. 😂 🤦♂️
Yes instead of trim up, weight in back he goes to the front. You can see he thinks the black door skin is the reason for the water. Pontoon is going to ride low but having empty seats in the back no sense 😂
That front panel came loose letting in more water, he was trying to hold it in place.
@@DH-wr7rw lol no.
@@Carl_McMelvin For sure he was. It wasn't the right thing to do, but that was his intention.
The gate panel caved in. He was trying to hold it in place to stem more water from coming in. He was ignorant to the fact that his extra mass moving forward only increased the likelihood that the bow would stuff again.
The Intrepid Captain is knowledgeable on his boating skills.
I know nothing about how to operate a boat but I felt by watching the video of the captain of the end he was in control and he was managing the waves accordingly I think he did a good job
That captain is great
That last noat was bad ass
Retro wave/80s🔙👍😎🌊🇺🇸
Love the theme. Like a modern Miami Vice theme or something.
That Whaler captain made it look easy
The first thing my father and grandfather taught me was don't stand up in the boat...
Heckery the jet ski guys
Love it!!
That first group in the pontoon must have confused Lake Haulover with Haulover Inlet
That Derm should be on the back if the wave and ride that way!
Love the guy in the red / white sea ray, man down throttle ahead...completely clueless. Sea doo, for non swimmers only looking to drown and finally the Derm...ya give it the gas don't let your trailing wake overtake your boat
At 7:39 that's a beautiful shot
Espero um dia poder conhecer, é lindo!
Man, I was super impressed with the Intrepid at 8:53. So many of these boats try to go so fast thinking speed is the answer, but they did a good job being patient and going a good speed for as rough as those seas were. They did go a little slow, but it definitely got the job done without crashing the waves and hurting passengers.
he was going too slow, getting caught up between each set and subsequently was wallowing about, a few knots faster and he would have cruised through
Waves coming over bow, puts more weight up front 😂😂
great video.thanks
Just one more instance of leaving your brains ashore when going boating.
Had a 13' & 15' Sport for total of 21 yrs & they are very capable Boats with a resale value similar of a Chevy Corvette.
You gotta be oozy-botts to take a pontoon boat through Haulover and out in the ocean. 🤪
these videos are good for reference. bad captains everywhere.
Dusky. Like buttah! Following sea, I think? And Pontoons? NFW. On the Intrepid... I guess he did OK, but he was kinda threading the needle there. I would have expected more speed, but he seemed to navigate it pretty well. That police boat was badass.
Only one Officer on that marine patrol boat, especially in those everyday terrible conditions? He is not safe himself, and he has no ability to possibly attempt to help anybody else. Crazy! That agency should never permit that boat to leave the dock with less than two experienced officers aboard.
"Lets take my lake bow rider through the inlet" 😂
The main thing is the boat fenders! The boat fenders most likely saved their lives! LOL😅
Reef Runner was totally fine, That's why he we driving from the fly bridge.
From Germany
The yellow JetSki clip looks like a scene from a Keystone Cops movie.
If ya know, ya know.
Heck ya I would do that in a 15' whaler. Woulda done it fifty years ago though and probably in nothing but a Boston Whaler
@3:12 yes I would, because like that boater, I also know how to use the controls.
captain on the biscayneIII needed to throttle up
Yeah, but he didn't knock any of his passengers over. The captain made it a very comfortable ride for his passengers.
@@BlueSky-Aboveyeah but what he was doing was stupid he was not using his boat and experience properly for what he should have done
nuts to butts..there ya go
@@PaulyV56 Balls to Back….no thank you
Tell Einstein to get off the bow rail of the pontoon boat 😮
I'd want more than a $7 neck breaker on a jet ski in haulover.
Here in Missouri at Lake of the Ozarks, the overwhelming majority of us had Tri-toons which are far and away superior to Pontoons. That 3rd/center toon makes a world of difference in keeping the boat above the waterline and handles rough water way better. Even still: won't see too many tri-toons out on the busier weekends, because the water is just too choppy. Can't even imagine taking a pontoon which is barely suitable for a pretty calm lake on most days into Haulover. That's a suicide mission if I ever seen one...
look at the trim of the pontoon ... XD
One thing I've learned in your videos is that Boston Whalers are tough!
Play better be for what the darn boats cost compared to everybody else they are twice as expensive so they better be twice as good
To paraphrase a famous movie line, "You're gonna need a different boat."
No way! Pontoon boats are for calmer waters like lakes and rivers or if the ocean is very calm.😮
15 and 17 foot ( with a medium deadrise ) craft adequately powered and properly laden are the best for manevering haulover.
Captain Crunch.
Those 3 guys on the yellow Jet Ski kinda looks 🥴😂
I have no respect for captains who put all the weight in the bow and don’t require passengers to wear life jackets
I dont know how they go on with life knowing you don’t respect them .
@@troygonzales6386with the behaviour shown in these videos, they won't be going on too long anyway. At least as boat owners.
Use caution where the intercoastal meets the sea.
When the hype music is timed with the falls/ect. 🤌🤌 this is a masterpiece of a channel
JAJAJAJAJA...GOOD JOB BIG GUY,CLOSE THE DOOR...DA WILL STOP THE WATER FOR GOING IN.....IN A POTOOOOOOONNNNNNN!!!!!!.....RWALLY???!!!!
I would have played the intro with the Miami Vice tv serie theme.
Just not the same without the BTL girls!
That water is clear and beautiful but deadly 😵😵
Pontoon captain almost became a u-boat captain.
If you own a large jakuzi , use it in the garden
That's the forces of nature saying 3 men should not be riding a jetski together, lol
U wouldn't have a pontoon boat given free ,,😮
Some need to learn how to work that throttle. Captain Biscayne III. Must of sank Biscayne I. and II.
Pontoon boats are great but in most cases underpowered for a rough day at Haulover
It's not the freeboard. It's the type and trim. We used to wave jump a 16ft Mako,115 Mercury. Lake Michigan. RIP Knop twins. Ya'll were a little crazy...but always good friends. ❤👍🙏😿
Keeping the Hydrocodone market alive and well.
It always amazes me how those multi engined outboard motors don't crack the transom clean off some of these boats ?
They better not for what the damn boats cost like give me a break if they don't make these things strong enough to take this then they're not a boat in my book
@@rolop847
There are three types of boat powerplants:
Inboard
Outboard
Overboard.....
The pontoon stuffing is totally captain error. In rough water, the weight needs to be in the back and the engine needs to be trimmed UP to keep the front of the boat high. He had more weight up front and it appeared the engine was trimmed DOWN. While pontoons (and other lake boats) are not ideal for rough water, that particular stuffing was totally preventable.
Looking at it he was trying to keep the front panel in place to keep their supplies on the floor dry.
It is a pontoon boat, the entire floor is a wet area and it should be trimmed to drain off the back deck.
They are just crazy. Stay in the intercostal
That dude took a hard hit on the boat he stayed down for a minute or 3...
So Buddy goes and sits right on the bow to make it dig in more. Not a good place to be if he puts it up on its nose going over a wave and it suddenly slows down. He'll go off the bow, under the hull, and into the prop.
Pontoon looks like a hot tub with a motor
That pontoon had his motor trimmed way down.
You think those people on the pontoon were thinking "great, our sinking/drowning will also be on youtube"? 😂
I think the worst ones were the Dive boat and the Environmental boat. The Dive boat completely rocked his passengers. Be curious to find out if it was even a legal charter. That Captain clearly doesn't know how to handle rough water. The Environmental boat was in a very dangerous situation with those following seas. Either the Captain was new and inexperienced or they were having engine trouble. But they were very lucky. Hope she never gets to be behind the controls again. She's a danger.
The three friends on the jet ski should have never been on the jet ski to begin.
I rode/raced STAND UP Jetski's for years back in the 80's, 90's & 2000's. I'm surprised there aren't 5 fatalities/day now with all these SIT DOWN couches for 3 klowns.
Do understand that waverunners are way, way more powerful nowadays than they were back then, so it's very easy to get yourself into trouble if you don't know what you're doing.
Not really a boat is a boat a waverunner is a waverunner the newer ones just get you into danger areas quicker but they both are similar@@jttech44
@@jttech44 I know. I rode kawwy 550's & 650's stand ups.... weighed 300 lbs. No one had trailers. Everyone used their pickup bed or car trunks. We need strength, agility & coordination.
Now these new HUGE COUCHES, if you run aground, you can't lift it off yourself.(I've seen the videos here.) And they are wicked fast. No skill req'd. Just sit & squeeze the trigger.
I have yet to see a pontoon go down on Haulover but there is some kind of design in a Whaler
Come on amateur's, bring in your bumpers when you leave the dock.
Those are their boat Bling. lol
For whatever reason I am obsessed with boats that have cabin. Like some of the bigger CC boats have great cabins, were from looking at them you wouldn't think they would. But anyway, not a boat owner, but am I right in thinking, that if you can see those small oval windows things on the side of the boat, that means they have some kind of cabin?
I see these pontoon boats getting out into rough water all the time. This one was loaded pretty good too. They aren’t made for this peeps. Stay inland on the lakes.
Whalers don't sink!!
although it got swamped, it's a pontoon boat. The pontoons are fine and will not sink in that situation. technically, it should be able to take on tons more water but not sink unless the pontoons somehow get damaged and fill with water.
or it capsizes
Guy with the island hopper .. open bow . Not a drop inside knows whats hes doing..
Always fun watching a pontoon trying to navigate.. guy told me once they are unsinkable. I saw one floating upside down one time. Guess the guy was right they are unsinkable.
😂 those guys on the jet ski need to find a safer Hobby!
