It is in some way possible to understand the flocking of the former European socialist states to NATO and the EU, but the leadership of Finland and Sweden jumped on board on a sinking ship, probably one of the most stupid moves in geopolitical history.
Zelensky probably knows that even if a peace treaty was made with Putin and he left Ukraine for good he still wouldn't be safe.

It's probably true that Azov would kill Zelensky if he sincerely opens negotiations with Russia. I have always assumed that he's more interested in his own prosperity than he is in his own people. That said, I also wonder about what personal incentives would explain the behavior of Schulz, Macron, Sunak/Starmer, and other European leaders. These leaders could be forgiven for believing early propaganda. But, now that their countries are in economic jeopardy, one has to wonder why aren't looking for peace. I can only assume that they care more about themselves than they do about their own people.

So it's a brilliant way to fly wealth out of a country!

I'd argue NATO was always a U.S hegemonic tool, the Soviet Union publicly asked to join NATO when it was created as it was first posited as a defensive alliance against a possible resurgent Germany post ww2, but NATO rejected the USSR from joining it .Only after did the USSR then publicly later create the Warsaw pact after being blocked from joining NATO. A warmongering red army and USSR was always fiction. The U.S started re-arming west germany and putting former Nazi commanders that had annihilated the USSR leaving 27 million people in the USSR dead post ww2. West Germany being re-armed even alarmed France but the United States coerced France at that time by telling France it would not bankroll France's colonial war against the early Vietcong in French Indochina if France tried halt west German re-militarization against the USSR.
