Browns are the ultimate predator when it comes to trout ! When I am fishing I wonder will this be the day I catch a monster
Definitely! Always waiting for that massive take from a proper monster. 😁
Nice video Jacob, thanks for sharing.
Thank you. 😁
It is such a magical lake with lots of enormous wild brown trout in stunning condition. Thanks so much for sharing and bringing back happy memories for me. Will be back to fish it in 2021 and for my first time on the ION beats.
Glad to hear it brought back happy memories. The ION beats are amazing. Went there first time this summer. Tight lines!
@@jakobsindriorsson694 We are super excited about fishing the ION beats next year and great to hear you thought they were amazing.
Sweet brownies! Nice job on the video man. Tight lines from BFG
Thank you! 😃
What an amazing experience. It's my dream to fish that lake.
Yeah it definitely was. I recommend it. Can be tough but the reward is awesome. 😁
Those fish look like you need a 8wt rod and reel with 12 to 15lb line , leader. And 2hundred yards backing. Epic fish . Congratulations 👏. Oh I so want to fish that lake..I'd give you a high end reel , to hit that .
Haha, yeah that sounds about right. Fish it on a intermediate fly line with 25lb butt into a 15lb "tippet". Short leader and large streamer patterns.
Nice video jacop
Thank you!
Wow
Sæll og bless hvađ þetta var flottur urriđi 😱😱😱
I'm dreaming of them 🌟🌟🌟
Massive Fish! Thanks for sharing! It s not looking very deep, what type of sinking line are you using? Tight line for 2021
Yeah they get really big in the lake. I'm using a coastal evolve fast intermediate from Guideline with large streamers. Tight lines for 2021 as well!
Wow amazing shots and wonderful place! Did you fish the Ion beats in these shots? I'm planning a trip in May/June but wish to do it DIY/low budget. Is it at all realistic to get amongst the big fish in the public zone if you have a 7 days of fishing? I don't need to catch 20 mega trout, but would like to at least have a chance of getting one.
Thank you. This video is only from the national park which is a public zone. You can buy a fishing card which costs around 8k icelandic krónur and you can fish there the whole season.
@@jakobsindriorsson694 Amazing! That is wonderful to hear. 99% of all content about the lake online is from the ION beats so difficult to get info about the rest of the place. Interesting mega flies you are using, going to be a busy winter behind the vice. Oh and the sound of a mega run on that click pawl drag just sounds heavenly! Thanks a lot for the reply and content.
Hi nice browns, what gear did you have here? Im guessing its a sink line
Hi, I used a intermediate line in this video. But I also fish in the lake using a sink line. The line weight is a 8 and the line is coastal evolve from guideline.
Does it make sense to use floating line with fast sink tips or this lake is just too deep?
That makes sense. It depends on where you are. But a floating line with a sink tip or even just a long leader will get you far.
Superb! What time of year were you there?
It's filmed over the whole season from 20th of April to 15th of September. The trout season is usually in April and May and then again in late August and September. 😁
@@jakobsindriorsson694 thanks Jakob. I have just booked for early may 22. Really looking forward to it
Can you only use fly fishing here? Or is spinning rod permitted?
You can use spinning rods from the 1st of June till 15th of September. The season starts the 20th of April and is fly only until the 31st of May.
@@jakobsindriorsson694 thank you for the quick response! I will be going 3rd week of May. Does that rule apply to all of the rivers/lakes?
@@MM-di7ux it depends but if you bought the fishing card then most of the lakes that are a part of the card don't have fly only rules. So you should find a lot of possibilites to use the spinning rod.
@@jakobsindriorsson694 thank you for the information. I am looking forward to experience Iceland!
the casting backwards, why is that done?
Mostly because of wind but also sometimes when there is something in the way like bushes or trees on the typical casting side.
Jæja þá er það ákveðið, ætla skella mér á Þingvelli
Haha frábært!
Geggjað myndband hjá þér.
Takk fyrir það :D
hvaða staður á þingvöllum er þetta á mínótu 1:00? kannast við hann en ekki að kveikja
Þetta er úti í Presthólma.
Nice looking brown trout! Good video, I subbed to your channel! I have a fishing channel too check it out! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you. I checked your channel out and subbed.
@@jakobsindriorsson694 Thank you Jakob! :)
