When I grew up in the sixties and graduated HS in 1979 what's going on now with the guns would have been absurd back then and every family I knew back then had some type of firearm. And guess what I can't remember any so called mass shootings where I lived 😢

Sadly it all stems from the 60's civil rights era that was when the government got involved and gave the black women welfare to supply them with the income that they didn't need the fathers around anymore, and the government promoted single mother homes, and empowered the mothers who couldn't show their kids how to be respectful and successful men, so they turn to trouble. I've seen documentaries that Johnny Cochran and other successful people of that era were all brought up just before that time and the black community was tight knit, the fathers were still in the homes and everyone in the community, shop owners, all knew each other, they went to church on Sundays all as a family, and they didnt focus on race or anything like that, the guys and gals that spoke on the video all had one thing in common though I picked up on, they were all close as a family, and they were all happy. At that time too the families in the black community were doing just as well financial wise and often even better than white families. It was a completely different aspect that was honestly shocking to see. BTW I'm not trying to defend segregation or anything like that line my names Joe biden or something....but when the government got involved in the black community they went from ninety-something percent of two parent households to today's complete polar opposite number...I think figuring out what exactly went wrong back then could go a long way to fixing the issues we have now...

As for the children, WHO is tending/watching over them?? Get REAL PEOPLE!!

Good on you for helping that young man out. That may have been a monumental difference in his life. I try to do the same when I can. Recently I was at the grocery store and noticed a young black woman who was having trouble starting her car. I walked over and asked if she needed help. The vehicle itself was kind of a s+*t show, and looked like it had been stolen at some point (based on the ignition switch being ripped off), and while she was kind of embarrassed, she appreciated the help. She said she was trying to save up money to buy a better vehicle, and that she was out of gas because she spent her last remaining money on groceries for her children. We gave her a ride to the gas station and bought a gas can and a couple gallons of fuel so she could get home. Her demeanor completely changed and she had an ear to ear grin, showing us pictures of her children and the car she had put money down on to buy. I’m glad I walked over to ask if she needed assistance. Generally speaking if I notice anyone in trouble I offer my help. I don’t discriminate. You never know how much a small act of kindness can affect someone. I’m not sure, but a big white guy walking up to her may have freaked her out at first, but she was genuinely grateful for our assistance, and I’m glad to have been able to help her and her children out. Her tears of joy tell me that it’s something she won’t forget. This is how we change things and mend fences. United we stand, divided we fall.
Great job, I know she will never forget your gesture and input, she probably told someone she knows and it probably broke down some of the fear of “ the white man”. ( and also the black man) to a point in a good way

Yes, I did get out, it was a lot of work and some military service, but I am now close to retirement and will get near the max SS when I do.
