How to Scan Documents with Notes on iPhone/iPad

- Need a digital copy of a physical document you have, but don’t have a scanner available? If you have an iPhone or iPad, you’re in luck. Watch this video to learn how to scan documents in the Notes app on iOS!

To scan a document on iOS, open the Notes app. Then tap the New Note button in the bottom right corner. Then tap the camera icon. Select Scan Documents. Now hold your device above your document so you can see the full page. Try to hold it as still as possible to get a clear scan. Your device will automatically snap a scan of the document. If you have multiple pages to scan in one document, continue to scan next pages. When you’re done, tap Save. To save your scanned documents, hold down the document on your screen. Now tap Share. In the menu that appears, select Save to Files. You can edit the name of your document before saving if you like. Choose the folder you want to save it to, then tap Save. Your scanned document will then be saved to your Files as a PDF. You can access your scanned documents in your Files app.
That’s all it takes to scan documents with the Notes app on iOS.

It won't save to your photo gallery, it will create a PDF and save to your files app.
I don't get a camera icon when I open notes. Suggestions?
Tap the plus sign at the bottom and you should get the option to scan
@@techlifeunity The plus sign just opens a new window in notes.
@@alyciamcclurg4219 This happened to me also. So I googled it. You cannot use a third party source. I had my notes saving to my gmail. Had to go to settings and turn on "on my iphone" account. That fixed the issue.
