Enjoyed this video. Particularly noticed how often you disengaged when in an non advantageous position. I think I do this, but maybe not as much as I should.
I’ve been trying to get back into d2 after 2 years away. I can say with confidence that your videos have had a major impact on my play. Thank you for the assist and I absolutely love your approach to teaching. It’s on a completely different level than anything else I’ve seen. It’s well thought out and very well spoken and I appreciate that so much.
I enjoyed this video. It's nice to have a live commentary on your thoughts from engagement to engagement. I also enjoyed you throwing in humor at different junctures.
I really like the new videos just as much or more then your original style. Great accent and play style . For me the engagement commentary and the playby play/ woulda coulda shouldas are very helpful to understand how you ( a pro) are actively seeing the battle field
i would agree but in that instance you can clearly see he fires a burst and then there's a delay then the sniper shoots, flinch is insane as a sniper player but sometimes advantageous but had nothing to do with what happened there.
@@shomarinangwaya-walker8295 yeah ngl that part is kinda bs bungie made that too op. But I assure you playing against autos and pulses is almost impossible to snipe against unless you have really good flicks and reaction time
"I need help here and I'm not getting it, so I'm out." Hearing this out loud kinda slapped me in the face as I realized this is a major flaw in how I play. I tend to not disengage until low health and lean heavily on Wormhusk to (try to) get out of situations when I need to just start assessing encounters and know when to back off from enemies that I can't handle on my own. I would definitely love to see more of these videos. If I'm missing something as simple as that I'm sure there's other near common sense things I'm missing as well. Great video, love your stuff.
The acknowledgement that excitedness/nerves can bring out the F-bombs was a very nice touch! I believe that sort of authenticity is a sure way to connect with viewers 👍 Also: You earn an A+ for "Flinch is a social construct." That had me legit laughing 🤣
I absolutely love how you care about your channel and its quality. You take being everyone's crucible doctor as a responsibility and it just makes me smile to think that you are so passionate about it. Wish you all the best! Also i love this concept. It is very effective, because when i watch it, i'm always automatically thinking what i would do in each situation. And each time you do something else that i would do, my brain bugs for a split second, you explain your decision, and i learned something new.
Great video. The "arrghs", "what is this spawn", and "I'm probably going to die" comments certainly help relate this to an average player I think. Helping players of all skills understand that everyone (even "Doctors") still sometimes die, make mistakes, misread a push, get screwed by the game (looking at you, spawn locations) is valuable insight, and framing up the "improvment mindset". I rather enjoyed the live commentary, although your voice and your accent sound so sophisticated, I feel that you could do some serious voiceover work.
Youve helped me improve massively from a .7kd player to a 1.3player with good positioning and avoiding getting tilted especially in this meta so thank you! :)
Whaaat a UA-camr who teaches us something other than the typical hand cannon + shotgun/sniper loadout that every streamer teaches?! Take my subscription!
Good live commentary. Whenever I'm playing solo, regardless of 6v6 or 3v3, one of my biggest short comings is awareness of where my teammates are and end up taking bad engagements because I'm assuming I have some merit of support. I enjoyed it. This would be a nice change of pace video to throw in here and there.
Flinch in Destiny 2 punishes good players for being on target, and rewards players who are off target, when it should be, if you're shot in the face, you're shots will miss.
If you get hit with something other than a single shot, flinch doesn’t impact skilled players any more than unskilled. First flinches you on/off target, follow up reverses it. But I completely agree that regardless of how it is, players should never benefit from taking fire - regardless of skill level.
I very much like this format, it's simple, pure, honest, educational and tells the story, pure and simple. Perhaps this coupled with recaps of what worked or what didn't/what could've been done to improve a situation after an engagement goes wrong might improve a little but honestly, that'd just be just icing on an already very nice cake. :p "Look at your teammates" is such an underrated statement, and one that once I started doing a long time back, drastically changed how I play for the better. People so often forget to watch the death markers when an enemy super is cast and then wonder why they get shafted, or fail to notice a teammate is engaged before cornering. It just gives you a much greater sense of what's going on and where, and if the blueberries suck then at least you can use them as a long-range radar. If they're taking damage/dying, their icons show it, and you know where an enemy is and even how much trouble they're in based on how fast their icon changes from "engaged" to "dead". Couple that with the event long in the bottom left... Also the whole disengaging when you don't stand a chance thing too. A tactical retreat/regroup can easily turn the tides, especially now that you know where at least one of the enemy is, as well as their current play/mindset/level of aggression.
Your commentary sounds great to me dude. I was surprised how often you choose to disengage yet still hit 30 kills and a 3+ kda, will definitely be thinking about that in my own play. I'd love to hear you talk about maintaining the right distance for your loadout, especially with something like your choice to use double primary in this and some of your other recent videos. I really have trouble adjusting for a few games when I switch between loadouts covering different ranges (eg from my usual bow + slug to snipe + hc for competitive modes) Love your videos, keep up the great work :D
I LOVE live commentary videos. I've greatly appreciated your previous videos and they've really helped me a lot. But I've found that I get the most benefit from watching live commentaries like this one. They don't need to be particularly good games to me (in fact, not-so-great games with commentary on why they weren't so great performance-wise are real morale boosters to plebs like me!), just getting a glimpse into the decision making (good or bad) in a live environment is super helpful! Please keep these coming!!! This was a lot of fun to watch.
Honestly LOVE your academic lessons. But, this to me, is more impactful to see how all your lessons roll up and look real time. It’s tough to visualize what certain strategies look like when you’re in teacher mode. Watching you live with “teaching commentary” is worth its weight in gold. To go with your “teacher” metaphor some more: your teaching lessons are like a class lecture. This live commentary is more like a lab. You learn more, but it’s less useful unless you’ve attended lecture. Really well done!
This is really eye opening. Reminds me of the way Cammy Cakes used to make his live commentaries. Sorry I don’t mean to compare you with him in a negative way but this video reminded me of his. Hearing and seeing a high level player describe their process is super eye opening. Thank you
This was fantastic!! To be able to hear your thoughts and reflections on what choices you made and why they were beneficial or not as you were making them and post carnage (yours and theirs) is so massively helpful!!! Thank you!
I greatly enjoyed this format. Someone compared your normal videos and this to a class lecture and lab, and I think that's a nice metaphor. I can hear "don't overcommit, and learn to disengage if you don't have support from a teammate", but I learn it more effectively if I see it in action. I'd like to see more of these videos.
I enjoyed that and would definitely like to see more. It was good commentary on all aspects of a decent match, not just some highlight reel, which is refreshing to see. Some additional commentary on loadout choices for each match and how you approach that would also help I think.
When I started playing Crucible (after getting destroyed in the beta and did not play for 8mo) I watched Datto doing something like that and it helped me to understand the basics. Today I can hold my own but my KDE is all over the place from 0.3 to 5 as I mostly play Control. Videos like that help me understand how to read a game and how to form a strategy. My biggest flaws / failures are that I try to get a kill and then do not quickly and decisivly disengage and rarely disengage at all w/o a kill. I would love if you would continue this. You have my two thumbs up.
Personally, I really enjoyed it. The content creators that I watch do live com are too worried about entertaining than teaching. This was a good example of not being perfect but trying with every engagement. Looking forward to seeing more of these! Cheers!
Love the content type. The live commentary was extremely beneficial. The good and bad explained as it happened is fantastic. Even as a regular PvP player, I can always appreciate basic logic, I.e, disengage a 1v2 and regroup.
This was a very interesting video. I watched most of it (the whole match) and have to say, there is a lot of information that can become very useful if you can remember them. Some of them are fairly common but good to remember. For example, knowing when to confront or not enemies, when to disengage, predicting where enemies will go. I already hate crucible with a passion (because I'm bad) but it was very informative and I'll keep in mind to be more "strategic" and less "Yeet" .
For your first live commentary you did a great job. I feel the 2 main things I want from a live com is 1. What you are doing & 2. Why you are doing it. I feel u covered both pretty well. Look forward to more. Keep up the great content.
You are making me want to take crucible more calmly and analyze every step; what happens to me that I do that for like the first 1 minute or two of the match; and then I just forget and proceed to let me being tilted get over me and proceed to do bad. Also the teammate part I always complain WHERE ARE THEY; I never actually go where THEY ARE , just because of experiences of them sitting in the back and looking, I guess me wanting to drag and win every duel ruins my own experience and improvement. So please DO MORE of these Nomad; I’m looking forward!
Being in a good mind set is definitely a huge factor in PvP play, when I’m stressed or burning out trying to ‘unwind’ in the crucible has the opposite affect. Awesome informative content Sir 🍻
I really enjoyed seeing your in game thought process, reminded me of my team flow and to play around them as well as my cover. Also realized I need to think about my disengagement’s more
Love the content in general. This vid was a different take on thought process and decision making and I actually found it very helpful with analyzing my own game play. Great job, can't wait for the next one.
I really enjoyed this video! Been trying to improve in D2 lately and your more methodical videos have been useful. It was very nice to see real game play (even with losses included) and see more of the tactics in use, live. In the future it'd be fun to see them in pairs. A tutorial video on a concept, then a live commentary with that particular concept in mind as you can. But this general live commentary was very interesting! Would definitely watch more of them.
I’ve always watched improvement videos because Destiny 2 was my first FPS (think Mtashed’s Crucible School and TrueVanguard’s How to Snipe videos from way back). None have helped me as much as these videos. My average eliminations in a game of control went from in the 20s around April to about 40 now. My KAD and KD have improved drastically. Thank you for making Guardians like me stronger.
Learnt so much from this, subbed after the second lightbulb went off in my head via your perfect commentary. Thank you for taking the time to do this. (edit typo swype keyboard go brrrt)
This format of video is nice to see, it allows people to see kind of the live thought process of the "Doctor" and how he thinks at moments in time during a live game and provides relatable content. But I feel as if a post-commentary would be better suited as a form of commentary for your channel in general because I think you specialty is being able to break down every situation and possible outcome that is foreseeable. It would be great if you could try to upload a post-commentary on your game play or even someone else's game play and do a game break down/review kind of like some League of Legends streamer's/you-tubers and I think it would cater to your kind of style of commentary. Keep it up and the How not to Tilt video has been the most helpful I have watched to date. Much luck to you Nomad.
Great video! Loved hearing the thought process, it definitely points out somethings I need to work on like disengaging quickly. Please continue the series.
My 1st time watching your gameplay and commentary. I would say it was very entertaining and informative. So now I'm a subscriber. Can't wait to see future videos. Eyes up guardian.
First off your videos alone have improved my gameplay and gameplay awareness. This video alone is a great start for ingame commentary. But a video on combating against aggressive teams would be great bc I believe we all can say that we have been APE by amazing teams who constantly push you, very hyper aggressive and are always 1 step ahead of you kind of teams. That video I would love to watch and learn from.
This was honestly very educational, especially for me who plays enough pvp, and is always teying to learn from his mistakes. What i took out of it: 1. If you're in a 1v2 (or greater), it doesn't hurt to disengage. Always looking for teammates 2. Always behind cover. Whether reloading, or peeking, or recovering 3. Verticality. HAVE to remember that one 4. Always conscious about your surroundings. What I'd personally like to: 1. You used a double primary. Can you do a similar with a secondary weapon? 2. Instead of a long range primary (like pulse), can you do a vid with HC/AR, maybe? Great vid regardless Nomad!
Great to see a whole session and not chosen parts. I didn't realize how often a good player would disengage. I'll definitely be keeping that in mind next time I play. Cheers mate!
I'm really enjoying and learning from this series, thank you. I'm very guilty of pushing too hard too often and this just slapped me in the face. BACK OFF!!
I like the window into how you're evaluating and how you're trying to reckon what will happen in the next 5 seconds. It's tough to coordinate in a team mode with 5 other blueberries - is there some thought process for going with the uncommunicated consensus vs trying to lead the group to flow in some direction vs trying to achieve things solo.
Well done on the commentary, I appreciate "viewing" thought processes as it does help give ideas/perspectives as i try to integrate new skills and patterns into my game play. 5hank you kindly for your videos!
I definately enjoyed hearing your thought processes and decisions and results commentary during the game. If I might make one suggestion/request it would be it would be to quickly discuss your loadout and why you chose it and how you intend to use it?
6:18 That happened to me yesterday. I literally spawned 10m directly in front of an active Dawnblade. Insta-death. The animation to ready my weapon hadn't even finished to take someone down with me.
I wish I had some useful constructive criticism....but I've got nothing. You Sir are indeed my Cruicible Doctor. Always enjoy your content and this was just as insightful and and eye opening as any. Map awareness, team position awareness (both yours and theirs). Assessing engagements in real time to determine survivability. Thank you Dr. I vote yes for more of these, but not less of the other....you know, more work for you....sorry mate.
I think this was a really good format. Instead of dissenting after the fact, maybe aggrandizing a normal performance, we get some realistic information as it occurs. I found it really interesting how often you pull out of fights because they’re not favorable. I need to do that more often. As the old saying goes, “You don’t win a war by dying for your country, you win a war by making the other poor bastard die for his.” -Patton.
Interesting video. I like to hear people's logic on why they make certain choices in certain engagements. BTW, loved the gamertag "Luke Smith, CEO of FOMO" :D
love the content Nomad, i wish i can join you and practice in real time with you. i'm a very serious pvp destiny player and striving to improve by daily basis. unfortunately the majority of my clan mates not that chill about it and can't blame them giving the pvp status at the moment. keep the good stuff coming.
I like the live commentary, but I appreciate the lessons you focus on in your normal videos. One thing that might be useful (and I know this is a bit of heavy lifting) live commentary practice? For example, we are going to practice gamesense topic X, here's a refresher, and a reference to previous video. Now here's live commentary (with potential corrections or adjustments in post on certain areas). Just a thought, keep up the great work!
Highlight: "flinch is a social construct" very funny, seemed like your brand of humor so it was authentically funny. Great stuff, the humor is often what helps carry the best livecomms. I think another really promising piece about this comm is when you explained your reasoning for leaving engagements. Again. great stuff. However, you could have done much more explaining of your snapshots, why you choose engagements, where everyone was spawning, what you should be doing at any given moment etc. Explain even more. I think sidezz has some great live comms where he is explaining everything all the time, and he still infuses some humor. Don't just copy someone else(you already know) but you can see how someone like him got much better at the flow of commentating. I think the best way to improve here is just to keep practicing. The more you get used to saying all these things out loud, the more you'll remember to do it and find word flow more naturally. Thanks for the upload! I look forward to more of your content, livecomms or otherwise!
Just from this video I’ve recognized a problem with my own game, I don’t realize when I don’t have teammates help and to then disengage. Sometimes I catch myself on it but very rarely.
Brilliant! Really. Definitely want to see more of this. And perhaps you could feature Sir D or Drewski 94 CammyCakes or PattyCakes in the same style. It really helps cut the learning curve for me.
Very nice. Would appreciate more of this type of stuff. Cammy used to do these kindof commentaries but doesn’t anymore, so maybe you gotta fill in the gap ;)
great commentary....its always a great learning experience when you can hear what goes through someone else mind in similar situations. what works for me is...I take a big sniff of my favorite crayon and then hold W with my shotgun out....lul....
Hi AN. Great video. I’ve watched many of your clips and this one adds something different to your channel. I can empathise with GodInGaming’s thought on commentary in-game compared to post-play review. Pausing and adding markers (outlines / arrows) might be visual aids that compliment voiceovers (just an idea). Another thought could be videos like this one for the different crucible game types. For example, my play style for trials is very different to 6v6. All ideas for content, maybe. Not sure if any of appeals but I hope some of it helps (I’m no expert btw, kudos to you for running a channel). Looking forward to the next one 👍🏻
You correctly anticipate your teammate getting harassed at 7:49, which was impressive! What were your tip offs that was going to happen? Also, do you prefer Cold Denial to Vigilance Wing as a primary pulse?
Two deaths nearby (skull indicators), understanding of game flow and pacing, trying to understand and empathize with why my teammate was in that position that he's in. Just a bunch of context clues, really.
Always nice when you flinch someone into a headshot. Sometimes I think people intentionally aim at the body and wait to get shot just to get an easy headshot.
I have an issue where I cannot speak to Eva to get the other solstice gear for my Titan and warlock. I’ve completed my hunter gear so I’m very confused. Can anyone help?
You need to have the helmet equipped before speaking to Eva (after completing the first EAZ with the helmet equipped), then you should get the rest of the set.
I like this style of commentary better than most. You're actually explaining your thought process, whereas most others just laugh and goof around. That's not a bad thing, but it's not particularly helpful, like this was.
Love your videos. I kinda suck in PvP but I reckon (maybe I'm wrong) that the approach/strategy used for a Control game is completely different from an Elimination one, a video about the differences would be quite helpful, because I feel I'm a bit better when I play Elimination that the chaotic Control.
Great video and can tell you were nervous. What I would say is at the start of the match maybe once you know the map decide on how you are going to play. E.g I on some maps will try and control a certain area of the map, or play to slay or work on my positioning to play with/support team mates. This in my opinion will help certain people be aware of their radar for certain reasons like many try to do it on their own and suck at it so they will see how to change or maybe adapt to the play style. My one question is how you see certain things or are their guesses like where the Spectral blades was coming from outside of A not sure if he got a kill and you saw the skull or just a clairvoyant 😅😅😅 Keep up the good work

Great video! More of this please, listening to realtime decision making and why you made or didn't make a play is great. Very informative.
What i took out of it:
1. If you're in a 1v2 (or greater), it doesn't hurt to disengage. Always looking for teammates
2. Always behind cover. Whether reloading, or peeking, or recovering
3. Verticality. HAVE to remember that one
4. Always conscious about your surroundings.
What I'd personally like to:
1. You used a double primary. Can you do a similar with a secondary weapon?
2. Instead of a long range primary (like pulse), can you do a vid with HC/AR, maybe?
Great vid regardless Nomad!
Can do. Thanks for the feedback.
Its crazy you dont have 100k subscribers already. Keep making more vids like this and you'll reach that goal in no time.
Great to see a whole session and not chosen parts. I didn't realize how often a good player would disengage. I'll definitely be keeping that in mind next time I play. Cheers mate!
Taking control, remember capture those zones
Great video AN...I like this live commentary format. Especially enjoyed the 'comedy of errors' comment. gg. Keep doing these!
Really enjoyed this video, for me it's good to get the video on the theory and then one with the application.
I'm really enjoying and learning from this series, thank you. I'm very guilty of pushing too hard too often and this just slapped me in the face. BACK OFF!!
I want both Educational and Live-com videos, keep it up. Your channel is amazing
Awesome job. The ability to disengage and refocus is a skill I think is lost most people.
Hey man I love the new style. I personally like the professor style but this was super helpful as well.
6:18 That happened to me yesterday. I literally spawned 10m directly in front of an active Dawnblade. Insta-death. The animation to ready my weapon hadn't even finished to take someone down with me.
Please do more. It's good to see the process of a 3.2 game than to just see clips and the end screen.
Nice to see you in live action ANomad! Also luv the GoT reference lol!
Using the Starks as a baseline for "How to not die in x situation" is an excellent toolkit.
Top notch content! More of this please!!!
Honest gameplay. Love it, keep it up, I enjoy this type of video mixed in.
Wish you played on PS4 so I could get mixed in on scrims.
“What is this spawn, dudes?!”
Man, I say that a lot these days. 😂
Would like to see an intro commentary discussing the thoughts and strategies in deciding your loadout
enjoyed this and also your own critique at the end. keep it up!
Yup, your content is dope! Subscription secured! Keep up the good work my guy!
Very good video, hope to see more on Elimination or Survival
great commentary....its always a great learning experience when you can hear what goes through someone else mind in similar situations.
what works for me is...I take a big sniff of my favorite crayon and then hold W with my shotgun out....lul....
Nice video man you will keep improving on the love commentary!
Great video. As you said it yourself, perhaps making another one with a more objective/control point orientation would be cool, too.
Would love to do this if I can find the time, typically those videos take much longer to produce than live commentary ones!
This was great! Great commentary
I think this would be helpful if it was in comp or trials as strats and coordination with your team is more important
Another great video @Ascendant Nomad
Awesome vids, keep up the good work... I'm 1000 points away from legend for the first time in 2 years... Your videos helped a lot... 2 sec rule 👌🏻
Always nice when you flinch someone into a headshot. Sometimes I think people intentionally aim at the body and wait to get shot just to get an easy headshot.
Enjoyed the format
I have an issue where I cannot speak to Eva to get the other solstice gear for my Titan and warlock. I’ve completed my hunter gear so I’m very confused. Can anyone help?
You need to have the helmet equipped before speaking to Eva (after completing the first EAZ with the helmet equipped), then you should get the rest of the set.
Ben Brighton oh I’ve done all that I mean for my second character but I found out anyway
More of this please it's really good 😃.
Always wondered Nomad, how do YOU deal with cheaters? What strategies do you use to shut them down? could be a good video idea.
You sound like the alt shift x guy. Keep up the great work. Lots of insight here. I tend to run in with my handcannons and force 1v1s like an ape
Keep it up, all good man! Portugal have your back!
Great video. More like this please!
Great works, keep it up!
love the content love the voice
Please continue on making this type of videos.
My one question is how you see certain things or are their guesses like where the Spectral blades was coming from outside of A not sure if he got a kill and you saw the skull or just a clairvoyant 😅😅😅
Keep up the good work
