    The next time you're at a blues jam, don't be the guy who plays the same rhythm lick all the way through the song. Albert King's recording of this song had a GREAT rhythm guitar part, and that's what I'll teach you in this lesson.

    Great lesson, Anthony. Mo rhythm, mo rhythm! One of the greatest songs ever. Hendrix's version melts my face. What a genius that guy was.

    Lots of good content and technique here. Playing this more simple isn’t “bad music” though. Just not as good as the better way to play. I learned a lot from your approach. Thanks for sharing!

    Sweet Albert King! Great choice, Anthony!
    For next lessons, I would suggest you to teach some of the funky rhythms and licks Freddie King plays in some of the songs in his album Burglar (one of my favorites) like Pack It Up, Texas Flyer, My Credit Didn't Go Through.
    Thanks!

    Den from UK, wow, ive just picked up on this, learning guitar and well, you have a great feel and love the way you use the pick, very impressed. Funny, but you think youve seen it all, guitar wise and bang, you show it done this way and at the camera angle, really ace, ive learned a lot here, and that`s what its all about, well done.

    steve cropper layed the rhythm track at Stack studios, surely in std. tuning...albert did not play the riff, regardless of his tuning

    it would be easier in my opinion to drop down a half step then detune that e string so you're in drop c# instead of having it a half step lower. and you'd play 1 fret up of course to stay in the same key

    so no one noticed that he was holding the pick upside-down

      A lot of players play with the rounded corner to the string. With practice it might feel smoother, faster, and the tone is smoother.

    Awesome tone dude,how do you get that sound

    • @Elix1rify
      @Elix1rify 10 років тому

      Clean amp with 15 inch speaker with a compressor.
      Ofcourse the strat in neck position loaded with zexcoils will also affect the sound.
      But basically 15 inch speaker with a compressor pedal. You'd even get away with using a 12 inch.

      Elix1rify In this case the speaker plays quite a large role. I have a Weber NeoMag 15 and it has a very distinct sound that I think fits a Fender amp perfectly.

    I read a while back someone's theory that King tuned to c# and decided to give it a go myself. I like it and rarely tune to anything else.
    Whether King actually did use this tuning I dont know. But when I jam with folks my c# fits with other folks tuned to E. but to be polite I make sure nobody has to keep up my tuning.
    Most of my own videos are in c#, even though the playing itself is sorta sketchy. And I used to pay no attention to major key stuff like the Allman Brothers but now some of my favorite jamming is over major stuff, especially E major,
    But, its easy to step all over you bassist. Tread lightly.

    Great lesson as always.....sadly though the jams I go to really hate it if you ask for a couple secs to detune a string....I mean REALLY hate it lol. Anyway keep up the fantastic lessons and I really enjoy the recent changes to your site/page and lessons....cheers!

    just curious, why do you hold your picks upside down?

    • @bigassloser
      @bigassloser 10 років тому +2

      bigger, beefier, more full sounds to be had if you play with the back of the pick instead of the tip.. use your pick like an instrument itself... it is.

    • @Texasbluesalley
      @Texasbluesalley  10 років тому +1

      bigassloser Also easier to do really fast tremolo picking.
