About the generals helping in a battle, I remember when i was still new to the game my team was getting absolutely dominated, then we got like 200 heavy fighters and turned the tide of that specific battle
its not allways the game play alone. H&G had an incredibly unique atmosphere. And no other game exist yet. That even come remotely close. Sorely miss it
The killing bots in Enlisted comment made me laugh, it is quite true to be fair. My least favorite part is the AI squad and unfortunatley it's the main selling point they like to promote and reinforce. They did have a lone wolf mode but it's Hardcore only. I wish they just made it Arcade and lone wolf. I too also really really liked the feeling of each battle being part of a greater war. It felt like each game mattered and ruined other games like CoD for me because you're just Quickplaying and it doesn't matter what happens after that 10 minute game. When you queued into a battle you NEEDED to win no matter what, it felt so cool. It also felt meaningful and almost like you were part of a movie when you joined a game as the underdog team with lesser resources and an uphill battle, but you needed to win.
They also removed one of the other few things that was fun about that is the historical theaters. Now you can have just any equipment anywhere regarless of time period or location.
I think I got in just after Rommel had dropped and managed to get in 8k hours before I finally jumped ship around 2016, kept coming back for the 10/10 air combat but eventually they even fucked that up. It still hit me like a brick the other day when I came back for my yearly reminder of why I stopped playing, only to find that the game hade been killed of for good. Thank you fore these videos they really help. Here's to the great memories.
Thanks Lycan for showing my comment. Even if it was very long i just wanted to warn casual players that it could take over 400 days to complete a single part of a techtree. New players shouldn't be bothered, but the grind is far to serious for annyone to take lightly. Let us know if you ever want people to play with, if you ha a discord, Warthunder is better with friends!
there are commanders in PS 2. they tell they various other groups under their control where to go and what to attack. the strategy happens in real time. plus they added construction a long time ago, so you can actually build forward bases.
Man I miss h&g. It was a game I could hop on and always play well without having to turn my brain on and it still felt satisfying. R6 takes to much energy to play for long sessions and tf2 just doesn’t tickle my brain like h&g would
I don't know if you know it, but Rising Storm 2 Vietnam actually has a player controlled campaign. It's a lot simpler than the H&G one, without resources, but it's something. E.g. it has a commander etc.
Those gameplay footage are yours? If so, take less ammo next time, war thunder has interesting mechanic of ammunition being represented inside of the tank, so if you take less ammo then theres lesser chance of you exploding into bits during penetration. Also its true, war thunder gets harder and less rewarding after 4/5 era (depending on the nation and BR). Its always about research points, theres a moment in this game where silver lions aren't a problem
The closest thing to HnG War that has come to my mind is probably Red Orchestra 2 and one of its game modes I forgot the name of. That thing was pretty fun and would recomend trying it out... Although the game is not free to play.
Hey man, thank you for reading and answering my question. You might have misunderstood my, i meant that PS2 is on shaky grounds, not War Thunder tho, it has stable player base, if you'd like you can invest into WT as much time as you want, it's not going anywhere anytime soon.
I never played H&G but I could sympathize on the problem of finding a replacement of the game you loved like my situation with Enlisted since December 2023 where the game drastically changed for the work with basically the game I used to love shut down and was replaced by something unrecognizable.
ah yes i love transportation networks and infastructure so funny haha! i drive le truck hehehohohohaha. its just like how some arma groups have you sit in a field for 2 hours and not do anything besides twiddle your thumbs. too bad /mislim/ is dead only active group anymore is the ECD.
Enlisted is similar to H&G only at the very surface. I do not recommend it, especially now that they got rid of campaigns which were one of the not many things about this game that felt like a cool idea. Feels like devs don't know what they want. Also the maps are too cramped except maybe the Tunisia ones. There is a WIP game called Total Conflict. It's apparently like Mount And Blade but modern military. Haven't played but here's an idea for you I guess. Also I think I said it before but playing Gates Of Hell in the direct control mode can also scratch the itch for you. Also it has that kinda model-kit graphical style same as H&G
26 APCR shells, agony again (it might've been good in H&G but in WT it's just garbage in the vast majority of cases). Also 14 HE shells, 4 would be excessive.
My friend told me yesterday, enlisted is not really newbie friendly Because you literally need to grind your equipment, and the process is way worse than H&G Imagine you're playing H&G but with War thunder grinding system. At least you need a premium account to progress and not to suffer
Imo i feel like looking for an hng replacement is pointless. There are lots of really good high quality games out there. Decent chance we never get to scratch that hng itch ever again. But that's part of moving on in life. Life must go on.
if you find me a game that is a ww2 FPS that i can progress like HnG that is not enlisted i will feel happy, never realy played the RTS part of the game, i played war, but never used assault teams , dose not even have to be free to play, my main turned down for stuff like HLL of PS or even RS2 is that every wepon comes unlocked and you dont really have a motivation to play to unlock better stuff, and that is what made HnG so fun for me
The enlisted bot comment is very relatable because I have grown to dislike Enlisted for this reason. When I play a multiplayer game I want to fight players. There was once a mode in Enlisted that was pure PvP, poorly populated but great fun when you could find a match. They killed that mode. Now 90% of all encounters in a match are bots (and they behave like bots). It's a shame because Enlisted has some of the best maps I've seen on a first person shooter.
the comment made about players wasting resources that genrals put into battles is true in the sence of randoms, but id say in clan play, sending the right equipment at the right time would totaly win battles , but having less exp players in your clan playing with you would somtimes cause a defeat, IE: tanks get sent in and newer players switching to them rather than do there jobs.
HnG was never milsim and i question what led other people to claim that was a replacement to the game. HnG was never slow nor was it cod but milsim is definetely not it but of course if they like it then so be it. What do you think of HnG replacement/revival projects? Think the game servers can be brought back by fans or a different company?
Trust me. HnG is like a drug. You hate it, but you keep coming back. We all feel the same way. We've been playing a lot of good games, but keep missing the shittiness we can do with HnG. A lot of trolling and shit can be done there that you can't do with other games.

yea , teamwork
its not allways the game play alone. H&G had an incredibly unique atmosphere. And no other game exist yet. That even come remotely close. Sorely miss it
I agree, but I won't really refer the overall atmosphere, I'd say it's Heroes and Generals' simple principles of conquest with satisfying gunplay.

The merge ruined the game for me with the selling point of historical theaters being changed into another War Thunder but with infantry.
enlisted ai is shit they cant even kill anyone properly.... honestly i miss HnG :(

Tip for War Thunder. Don’t bring full ammo. It lessons your survivability, so bring like depending on the tank 15-25.
Not to mention increase in repair costs

@@RabbiGoldstein Whatever tickles your brain, I guess. You don't really need to do any of this in foxhole anyway, the combat can be pretty fun.
BF1 is indeed GOATed
man I miss sawmill, fun map. It reminds me of 2fort for some reason.
the only game ive been able to get into since HnG was shut down is Fall Guys.

Nice Bosstrad kill :P
26 APCR shells, agony again (it might've been good in H&G but in WT it's just garbage in the vast majority of cases). Also 14 HE shells, 4 would be excessive.

WW2 Online if you want a persistent world!
Persistent world?

i would have loved enlisted but it just feels to cluttered and the controls are so irritating with leaning and everything.
What about Insurgency: Sandstorm?

Should add Foxhole to games you have to try... Sadly for me tho, after the 1.0 release kinda lost interest.
this game is still on browsrer?
Play minecraft 💀 there's probably some sort of thing that reminds u of hng
Idk why all of my comments get deleted
One of the best shittiest games ever ❤
