This is the best song from the album. It just sounds so *stressful.* Like you're at a party you don't want to be. Which, if you've seen Interstealla 5555, is pretty much the Crescendolls situation. They were kidnapped by Earl de Darkwood. They're currently brainwashed and forced to perform so that he can get the golden records. It's catchy as fuck, but sinister too. Especially that synth for the "chorus."

When I first saw Interstella 5555, I was wondering how Daft Punk could pull off something this amazing. It’s a departure too since it sounds like a jamming blend of Electronic, Disco and Latin music.
This video and Nightvision always makes me sad. The Cresendolls don't deserve any of this bull! Poor Stella looks like she's gonna cry when she shook that guy's hand....
Also a little confused. How on Earth does no one notice them looking depressed and blank-faced all the time. I feel like someone would have questioned/worried about that...

this movie, especially this video, shows what a lot of people do to get famous. You sell out, change who you are just to get a shot to be number one. Not saying the band wanted that, but the man with the evil grin did, and that personifies your own personal greed, while the band personifies your conscious realizing you changed who you were for the sake of getting known. This applies to all artists and content creators. The question is, how far are you willing to go to make it big?

chunkymonkey I feel like it's probably an artistic choice. VCRs make a cooler sound than DVD players, and it's sort of got a definitive feel to the way they click and whirr.

Yes, Just because there are "Aliens" doesn't mean it's set in the future. It was actually set, probably in 2002. While the music for the movie was made in 2001, The movie was probably mostly made during 2002, And then released in 2003.

Honestly I love the whole album. It's my favorite of the Daft Punk albums (not including Homework because I've never sat down and listened to it. I know, I'm horrible.) I love every song on this album pretty much equally, they're all good in their own way. Each song is fresh and different; nothing feels repetitive.
+Elton Burns Homework is VERY repetitive, and not very melodically-inclined. I love Discovery too.

I know it's been several years since these comments, but I have to point out that Homework is a classic album that includes some iconic tunes ("Around the World," "Da Funk," etc.). And it is certainly NOT "just French house dance music." It includes everything from trance to acid-house to big beat etc.

Honestly, Homework is their best work. It’s top quality house and techno music. Discovery is a brilliant listen, but for a night of dancing til you drop it has to be Homework.
The first thing I would notice that something is wrong with the crescendolls (the band, not the song) is that they never smile.

The music gives the impression that you are where you don't want to be, but you can't get out. In addition, you are anxious, but you do not understand at all why all your anxiety. I really dig the scenes with them setting up the studio equipment and starting to play as the music ramps up - the director and animators of that sequence clearly knew their stuff and loved music just as much as Daft Punk did. Just makes you wanna dance!

I will never get over the fluidity of the drumstick animation at 1:31. They literally animated the optical illusion of the sticks looking like they're bending, like when you wobble a pencil. Absolute geniuses made this.
