I moved to California and Daft Punk is all I listened to the roughly 3,200 km journey.
From Homework to RAM and back again. I recommend piping this through good speakers turned up as loud as possible while making the drive down i-17 out of the mountains/Flagstaff Arizona toward Phoenix because that drive is as close to Heaven as you can get without dying to begin with but with this song as a backdrop... my god.

2:00 the slow pan as he slowly stands up, and the animated glimmer in his eyes really speaks for how seriously determined he is to rescue them

2:13 the bad guy's shocked face is dramatic but not overly so that it's taking away from the emotion showed to the viewer; that speaks for how desperate and frustrated this dude was that this bluboi was just instantly foiling his elaborate plan which he worked so hard on

2:20 the pause before Shep frees Stella going hand in hand with the music "stopping" for a moment, again Shep's eyes are caught intensively glimmering along with the closeups of Stella, it doesn't say/show anything explicitly obvious but his brief, proud smile of relief really shows how much he cares about her, only to be taken away with his shocked expression along with his finger taken off the trigger

3:17 The laser fires and Octave is shown trying to do something about it with what appears to be a seat cushion, but of course isn't enough since the laser went through and hit Shep who is visibly hurt by it, but these details stand out because, like many of the other moments, they happened in the course of 3 SECONDS

I think the character details has a lot to do with how the shadows were drawn on their faces in this era, I'm not very well versed in film, music, nor art but I'm just speaking off of why this video stood out so much to me since I just discovered it today and had no knowledge of Interstella 5555 prior to this video. If all these details could convey such emotions and context WITHOUT DIALOGUE and in a very quick 3 minute time frame, to someone like me who knew NOTHING of the story or song until i looked it up after the video was over, then THAT is the hallmark of a masterpiece. I've watched tons of shows animated/live over the years, not one has intrigued me as much as this video without the need of extra context/dialogue. Considering when this was made, I know for sure there were no other shows around at the time that had this level of visual storytelling on their belt (since ofc no show out there is purely without dialogue and needs dialogue to run as long as they do). It's simply amazing of all the ppl who wrote, produced, and directed the story/song in cohesion with one another.

With this song, daft punk truly did what they intended for me, which is adding more depth and feeling to their music. It feels hopeful until it fades to a desperate, sad feeling. It perfectly captures the emotion they probably wanted to make us feel. Truly one of my favorite songs ever.

this entire movie is an epiphany of a concept. From fantasia onward I have loved the idea of long-form music videos, and it was thrilling to see the video of Digital Love in college. I couldn't believe it when I finally looked that song up on youtube and realized there was a video for One More Time as well ( :D :D :D !!!!), as well as the rest of the songs on a whole Daft Punk album!

I love it when the orchestra joins in and the drums slightly stop for a second letting the “orchestra” have a moment. To me it’s so.... amazing
Some of those audience people are clearly off their heads, 3 of the four musicians have been kidnapped by an alien, the ceo pulled out a laser gun, the music has stopped, and two cyborg bodyguards ran out. Yet some people were still jumping and cheering.

He was hiding the gun at his hip so everyone couldn't see it. Why would they be able to tell the two cyborgs weren't human? They clearly look human too me, only to be revealed after the car crash. Some people actually did react to them running off stage, you can see some people in the crowd stopped cheering, it pans over to them.
