He is not stupid at all since I have a perfect explanation (from my mother who uses a pendulum who said that once to me) it's not him willingly making the dowser move it's the mineral or the thing he is searching for which makes that, so even though you can see his hand or body move in the oppinion of these people that doesn't contradict their claim to have such abilities. There is something larger at hand than just entertaining people. A moral issue and a societal issue. Being dishonest for gain is not right. I don't think that takes much explanation. this is beautifully staged: the dowser is forced to make circles with his rods on boxes that he had no reaction with the first time around. when he was dubious about 4 and 7 i was already smiling, but when he was "allowed a 2nd chance" and his rod suddenly moved on boxes that it hadn't before, that was the cherry on top.
