The number of people who say water dowsing works through magnetism despite it historically and even sometimes modernly being done with tree branches… like, I don’t expect somebody who believes in this to be well-versed in science, but to think that would react to electromagnetic fields smooth brained

@@alexmorrison6294 it’s called “cognitive bias.” You think it’s the wire finding it, because of the few successes outweighing the many failures in your memory. The actual person finding it is YOU, observing your environment subconsciously. No Magic involved.

I'm surprised the dowser didn't make the usual lame excuses about the TV studio equipment interfering with his method. Uri Geller used to say that when he failed. This chap even smiled at the end and looked rather proud of himself as if to say "You see, it works, I got it right".

Absolutely. When you twin this with confirmation bias (this guy is out in the countryside, walking round over muddy fields, he's bound to find water sooner or later and those are the occasions he remembers, he forgets all the failed attempts) you can see how easy it is for people who have little scientific, psychological or statistical knowledge to believe in these things without testing them.

Open-minded big businesses use dowsing, too. Hoffman-La Roche, one of the largest global pharmaceutical companies in the world, has used dowsing to locate water for its new plants. A company magazine quoted Dr. Peter Treadwell as saying, "Roche uses methods that are profitable, whether they are scientifically explainable or not."

Yes, he is, its subconscious. Like I said, he isn't lying, he really believes that he has this ability. Like I've said, I've been at that point to, you believe it without questioning it, without listening to people who say it isn't real. A lot of people get into esoteric stuff because they are fascinated of it, and this fascination is enough for them to ignore all evidence that goes against their claims. I only got away from it because science fascinated me more after I started getting in to it.

a calm, balanced and clear state of mind, not effected by fear or nerves, is the key to dowsing. a clear intention of a calm mind is answered by the subconscious mind, and with a calm state of being it will allow the subconscious mind which is connected to the whole of reality to play out the answer through the nerves to the dowsing tool. when people come under fear, nerves and pressure of being wrong caused by others, the conscious mind is over-run and creates its own idea's and answers.

    6/7 * 5/6 * 4/5 = 57% chance that he would fail by the 3rd attempt, so 43% chance to guess in 3 attempts
    6/7 * 5/6 * 4/5 * 3/4 = 42.8% fail = 57.2% sucess on 4
    6/7 * 5/6 * 4/5 * 3/4 * 2/3 = 28.5% fail = 71.5% succes on 5
    6/7 * 5/6 * 4/5 * 3/4 * 2/3 * 1/2 = 14.25% fail = 85.75% success on 6

if you understand dowsing, the subconscious mind is connected energetically to everything, you have to br trained to be calm and clear minded, not fubmled by doubt or fear because it will give wrong results... your mind ask's your subconscious "is there water here, then move" your subconscious knowing where it is, will subconsciously send electrical signals down through your nerves reaching your muslcles to move the stick, this is how dowsing works

If society degrades into a place where psychic power is accepted and factual, logical thinking is most likely gone too.
