Yeah I waited and waited for the Stout as I am a Toyota pickup truck devotee but nooooo. All smoke and mirrors. So I ordered the Ford Hybrid Maverick and I could not be happier with my purchase. I guess Ford was listening to what some of us want.
Nailed it at the beginning…a truck more affordable than the Tacoma. The Tacoma is over-priced across all trims. Also, Toyota could already take the current Tacoma and create a newer more urban/suburban trim-like offering akin to the Maverick for an even cheaper price and sell that, but it would sell so well it would cannibalize regular overpriced Tacoma sales. Which would prove the point.
What in hell is toyota waiting for... can't they see how well the maverick is doing. I can't get myself to buy the ford but I want the maverick .. I'm basically using my prius as a little truck

However the camry offers a better deal than the prius in my eyes and PHEV is where the prius shines. But add a corolla PHEV and prius will be too expensive in hybrid and PHEV so everyone will opt for camry hybrid of corolla phev and forget about the still slightly odd looking prius with a small trunk.

They don't want to sell cost effective vehicles. They want to sell huge profit abominations that you need to have a 15 year loan on. An affordable hybrid pickup? I will believe it when I see it.

Make it the small, entry level, 4x4/4x2 that the pickups used to be. Let the new spaceship tacomas be at that level of complexity, but offer something analog and reliable again for us layman who're keeping the old toyotas on the road.
Amen to keeping old Toyotas on the road. We have a 2007 4wd Toyota Limited Highlander and also a 2006 Pontiac Vibe that has all Toyota Drive drivetrain, a Toyota Matrix clone. Both are very reliable. I really need and want to buy the Toyota Stout Pickup with 4wd Hybrid 40mpg and a very affordable low starting price. Most Americans need an affordable pickup to haul stuff,!!!
Kirk, This faux pickup really needs a better name than Stout. Did another automaker already hold the copyright for Chunky, Dumpy, Thick, Portly, Rotund, Bulky and Corpulent? 😉
I was just in Argentina. Little 4 door pickups are all over the place. VW, Renault , Citron, Fiat, Chevy S10 2 door, . Where can I post some pictures. We go a ride in a Hilux 4x4 turbo diesel
You lost me at hybrid. We want a small 4 cylinder pickup with a long bed like the old Tacoma. That's it. No screen, no cameras, no automatic seats... Just the basics and make it sell for under 20k. Not MSRP, ACTUAL sale price.
This would interest me. Toyota reliability and what I view as an interesting design. I don't want a jumbo truck, my disability prevents me from climbing into those. I don't tow or haul. But this mini truck look is nice.
2027 comeon how long does it take a vehicle to get to market weve been hearing about this since 2023,why are they losing so many sales to Ford, pick it up LOL
If they give it the Stout name it's a guaranteed success. I do wish though that it was going to be based on the Camry platform with the 2.5l hybrid powertrain instead of the Corolla's platform. The Camry is faster, larger, and gets better mpg than the Corolla does. But if they made it similar in size to the Tacoma, the Tacoma's sales would fall flat on it's face. So I can see why they're making it smaller. Plus it will be more affordable being based on the Corolla.
This thing is unibody so it's not a truck. Doesn't interest me at all. It would sell, but I want a cheap TRUCK (hopefully with a diesel/gas option) under the Tacoma, not another pavement princess aimed more at urban people who need extra space (like the Maverick and the Santa Fe.) Real opportunity here for a domestic automaker to do this but it looks like the USA will continue to be exploited as the cash cow for automakers who only want to sell expensive stuff here. We want a cheap truck too!
All Americans should and do want a cheap and affordable small truck to haul stuff.Pickup trucks now are way to expensive. I can remember when American made pickups were s lot cheaper than cars. I also remember when we got in little Datsun pickups to drive in about the year 1978. They were better made, didn't rattle got a lot better fuel economy, easier and funner to drive than the Ford, Chevy, and dodge, and International Harvester trucks. That was nearly 50 years Ago when I had a state government job. We all need a good well built cheap reliable pickup truck right now!!! I hope Toyota reads these comments!!!
Toyota's strategy as a global carmanufacturer turns out to be brilliant. Multi pathway environmental solutions, brilliant. Collaboration with Suzuki, Subaru in development of first gen EV'S....brilliant. investing billions in gigacasting, fuel ceel, solid state, bev's 2.0.....also the right decision. Ev sales collapsed in France, Germany this year, same will happen in the Netherlands next year. Incentives are scrapped, all over Europe. Hybrids are enormous popular. And best part, Toyota upgrades and improves their cars every year with model updates. Have to say, compared with a Golf, Astra, or Rensult, a new Toyota CHR or Corolla is way better build, more reliable and far far more efficient.... . Toyota does a great job.
EV market share in Europe has dropped from 14% in 2023 to 13.2% in 2024 - hardly a collapse. Hybrids are indeed popular, with market share increasing from 28.6% to 33.3%.
Im excited. But I don't want a hybrid. I don't want an electric anything and I dont want it to look like that. Thats a damn ugly truck. And if Trump has anything to say about it. It wont be made in Mexico.

The EPU has the same wheelbase as the Tacoma at 3350mm. It's also built on the same platform as the Land Cruiser SE (GA-L) so it will not be cheap.
Stout isn't pronounceable in Spanish. They will call it the Estout.
You lost me at hybrid. We want a small 4 cylinder pickup with a long bed like the old Tacoma. That's it. No screen, no cameras, no automatic seats... Just the basics and make it sell for under 20k. Not MSRP, ACTUAL sale price.
2 many doors.
Kirk, This Possible Hybrid was it/size closer to the Ridgeline or Maverick or Santa Cruz or the Tacoma 😮2026-2027 😊🇺🇲🇨🇦🤔??
A vehicle people actually want? no way in hell
The Maverick is popular because
1) it’s cheap
2) it looks like a truck
If the stout looks like a bubble car with a bed people aren’t going to buy it.
give me the toyota hilux champ in canada, would sell like hot cakes!
Why does it look like a ridgeline/santa fe. 🤢
Too far out to care maybe. But bring back a small truck please
I thought the baby land cruiser was supposed to be revealed by the end of this year?
Will never see it
It looks absolutely horrendous. Sheesh.
KIA TASMAN . . .
Hopefully it looks like a truck and not like a SUV where it's back cut off which is like the Honda and the Hyundai. Those are ugly
In the US, due to rules and regulations, we simply get overpriced garbage to buy in vehicles.
If you're over 55, stop dreaming.
It’s will never come out
Toyota's strategy as a global carmanufacturer turns out to be brilliant.
Have to say, compared with a Golf, Astra, or Rensult, a new Toyota CHR or Corolla is way better build, more reliable and far far more efficient.... .
Toyota does a great job.
also doing hydrogen engine also collab with carbon neutral fuel maker, nice
EV market share in Europe has dropped from 14% in 2023 to 13.2% in 2024 - hardly a collapse.
Hybrids are indeed popular, with market share increasing from 28.6% to 33.3%.
@@michaeloreilly657in France and Germany tge bev sales collapsed with -15%...., the Netherlands will follow in 25, incentives are scrapped.
Hi Kirk, are there any updates on the mini Land Cruiser?
Toyota won't make it a PHEV. Absolutely not. It's too expensive for a cheap vehicle.
"Toyota of America" however...
Im excited. But I don't want a hybrid. I don't want an electric anything and I dont want it to look like that. Thats a damn ugly truck. And if Trump has anything to say about it. It wont be made in Mexico.
ew what happened to it? it looks shit now?
Thanks to Elon Musk, Carlos Stavarish and all the other auto executives I will believe it when I see it! Nothing you or anyone else who fancies themselves automotive U Tubes willconvince me otherwise. It's all BS!
I think it might be a corolla. truck
Bette build it fast otherwise Chinese will copy version, and will be tolate for Toyota.
PLEASE!!!!! BRING THIS TRUCK TO USA!!!!!! starting Base price $24-28k and Primium/Limited AWD $38-41k with Trump "new plans". If not made in America.
Trump new plans ,please tell us what that means
@williamperry4684 meaning he's planning new tariffs / increasing taxes on overseas products.
@@ajjax89 how do you know he is planing on adding tariffs on these vehicles?please explain
@williamperry4684 watch the news. Since he won and his "plan"
The Toyota Stout with sell like hotcakes in the United States
There's so little innovation in the old companies
No way. Murica is nothing but huge, ugly, expensive pickups that are just awful.
A truck of this size, with a midgate, EV with 400 miles of range, which is easily possible engineering wise. Even if it’s 60k. Count me in
Absolutely COOL Toyota STOUT Hybrid Sport!!!!❤❤❤
For 60k in 2027...
God that's ugly
