I am a Roman Catholic in formation to become a Secular Franciscan. I recently found out that I have a charism of voluntary poverty. I was not surprised because I have always felt called to live simply as a Franciscan, but I am also aware that the poverty Saint Francis spoke of was not just material. I ran into this video because I wanted to understand what voluntary poverty is and why this is a gift. I was absolutely blessed by finding it. Thank you for your vocation and thank you for your work.
I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,†with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,† endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;†one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all

If we are involuntarily poor, do you believe we can offer this to the Lord as a still worthy sacrifice? Money has always been a struggle, so I wonder.
