Written in a hymn-like, chorus style, I Believe can be used as an anthem or as a congregational song. The sentiment of the text, "I believe in the sun, even when it's not shining" is one that is applicable in our times in any worship setting. This anthem represents the best of Mark Miller's writing and will be sung by generations to come.
Voicing: SATB with piano
Composer: Mark A. Miller
Text: Traditional Jewish Poem
Season: General
singing the second solo in this as an alto, I am MAD NERVOUS WISH ME LUCK
update: the solo went good and so did our groups singing but our pianist messed up and stopped in the middle of the song and we just kept singing lol 😂 that was a beautiful disaster
@@strwbbabies1995 Lmaooo I wish I could expirenced that moment
Me too, girl
I sang it as a bass. Good Lord that was painful. But how did you do?
@@strwbbabies1995 oh wait, haha nevermind. Didn't see this. Our pianist messed up too, that's a funny coincidence.
I sang this in my junior year and lemme tell you, we had people in tears
the choir I was with, we were all in tears after this song
Same here
I cry every time I hear it
Same😮
I’m singing this with my freshmen choir in 7 days .. oh boy, I hope we do great 😅
I sang this last year in chamber choir and my grandmother cried. I love this song.
Praise the Lord. Beautiful. I am GLAD that there are so many talents dedicated to GOD. I found this song while looking for music for the choir. As I listened the first part and noticed that there was nothing about God In it I discarded it. Then something kept telling me to listen all the way to the end, and WOW, the message, just a small and yet so profound.
"I BELIEVE IN GOD, EVEN WHEN GOD IS SILENT."
Singing this is my choir
I absolutely can’t wait to sing this at our next concert
Singing this in Mixed Choir, which is where Mostly 8th graders and some 7th graders get to sing together because our regular choir classes have us separated, this song is so beautiful
...''Written in a hymn-like, chorus style...can be used as an anthem or as a congregational song. The sentiment of the text, "I believe in the sun, even when it's not shining" is one that is applicable in our times in any worship setting.''' .....Brilliant and relevant....we need to sing in chorus and alone......grandfather richard
My choir singing this song this semester for our choral concert. This has a great message and I think it is especially needed during these times.
My music teacher is leaving this year, so he is choosing lots of songs he loves for our choir to sing. This is included.
we're singing this in my concert choir, i'm super excited!!
I sang this in my college choir 2 years ago, and now I have the honor of conducting it for class! Such a beautiful piece to perform, and it’s cool to be on the other side of the podium as well!
We are singing this for our honor choir this year! BEAUTIFUL
Very interesting to see the musical notations. One of the better performances I've found on UA-cam.
I love this. Sang it back in 2012 in the Ocean Grove Choir Festival. They will be singing it again at this years Choir Festival in Ocean Grove.
I'm in mixed choir in 10th grade and we are doing this song and its so beautiful and makes me excited to do it. Even if it isn't a happy song.
🕊🕊🕊 this is holy. This is what I want to play at my funeral
You won't be able to hear it but, you will give your friend and family a wonderful message one last time.
absolutely beautiful
CS Magix my choir is doing this!! I want the solo so bad
The story behind the lyrics is actually quite sad and slightly confusing. These words were either written on a wall by a Jewish prisoner in a WWII German concentration camp, or by a Jew hiding in a German cellar to escape Nazi persecution, depending on what source you read from.
I've sung this so many times! Mostly in my church choir, everyone loves this song and hearing everyone singing it together. It's so beautiful! I also sung this for my junior year of high school but nothing will ever compete with my church choir. This is my chior directors last year, she will be retiring at the end of December and we're playing all of the songs that we all enjoyed. This was a big hit song, and I manage to get the soprano descant! Singing it with one other person, as we both sound amazing together. If it wasn't for this song, I would've never knew how high my voice can really hit. Sorry for the long response, but this song will always be my favorite!
This is lovely. I do hope we'll be singing it in Peace Choir this year!
This song’s wintery-windy-snowy theme reminds us all that the Holocaust is no joke when you add the lyrics. I recently sang this as a Bass at a choir recital over the weekend and will do that again one more time this coming weekend. I’m honored to be one of the ones delivering this songs message.
I have to sing both solos on June 1st!! Wish me luck, I need it 😅
Edit: just realized that there’s a solo in the middle too! By both I mean the start and end, my choir teacher is having the sopranos sing that solo.
You're gonna do great!!
Thanks! I thought I bombed but everyone around me seemed to like it!
I'm not crying, you're crying. Damn onions.
i wish i got to sing this in choir! I only did choir for half a year my sophomore year of high school because of lockdowns. Glad I found this though!
Such a beautiful song
April 2024.... This is my theme song today.
I’m singing this in Bella Vocce, this song is so beautiful but super hard to sing since I since deeper then most of this.
i did this song in all region choir literally yesterday and for the solo at the end we had a bass sing it and it was so beautiful
Just heard this last evening at Woodlawn Untied Church, sung by The Polyphony Singers. Gorgeous. Thanks for the sheet music included.
I just so happened to not have time to do choir the one semester that my college choir sang this... and dang I missed out (they always do the best songs when I'm not with them smh). Such a beautiful song- I'll find a way to sing it someday somehow.
I sang this freshman year and people said others cried, I didn’t see people cry during my chorus concert but I also was trying to pay attention to my teacher
Thank you!
This never fails to bring me to tears ❤
i am so scared because i have both solos and i am in seventh grade and my quire has to sing this in front of judges wish me luck
You've got this!
never gonna give you up never gonna let you down never gonna run around and desert you

I’m singing it for my last year in junior high
Great presentation!
I might be singing the soprano solo in my choir for a competition in my city and maybe a national one and i'm shitting myself, i forget how to sing when i hear the intro
Learning this on piano as a first time pianist for a choir. Very stressful!
You can do it!
I sang this to my dying dad and at his funeral
I did my own version of this beautiful hymn
How can we license the rights to play this exact recording in an upcoming online worship service?
Hello! Thanks for your request. Please email permissions@choristersguild.org and we will help get you the correct permissions for broadcasting this for the service.
I sung this last yea r
i want to understand why it says "i believe in love when i don't feel it". penny for a thought?
My understanding (from another arrangement a few years ago) that this was written by a Jewish girl during the holocaust.
the words were found on the wall of a concentration camp during the Holocaust. The interpretation being... that even in the darkest of times, the thing that truly keeps up hopeful... is faith it self.
"I believe in love even when I don't feel it."
@@avamiller1245 oh yeah sorry. edited
@@CotyRavenMorris knowing this makes me feel deeper for this song. thanks
Bro I'm practicing for the solo with this song I hope I get it I think maybe I shouldn't sign up hold up I don't know
