      Hey Gerardo, we really liked San Cristobal de las Casas, it is very touristic but has nice food, beautiful cafés, squares and friendly people. The climate is very pleasant too. We hope to be back once soon again.

    Hey Guys. I am loving your Mexican journey. I traveled a very similar route last year, Mexico City to Playa de Carmen visiting all the placed in between. Your travels bring back so many good memories for me. I would really love to go back to Mexico and spend a few months as it's such a rich, diverse and beautiful culture. And for me CDMX beats New York, London & Paris hands down. The place has so much life and energy. Unfortunately Australians know little about Mexico (Someone please tell the Mexican tourist board) and I visited mainly because was intrigued by Mexican Culture, way of life and family values. I learned much from my previous partner Miguel. If you ever find yourselves in Far North Queensland, Australia, I would be honored to show you a local's perspective of my tropical region. You guys are amazing an thank you :)

      Dear Jason, thank you very much for your kind words. We are happy our videos bring back so much good memories. Mexico is indeed a very special country and we have fallen in love with it. Australia is on our list, probably for 2019. We sure will let you know when we have more details. We wish you a wonderful day. 😊

    So fun to see your vlogs... we travel across the same regions only in switched years: last year I traveled all over the Salento peninsula and this year I'm driving all over the Yucatan, Quintana Roo and Valladoild, Merida, San Miguel de Allende and then making my way back up to Los Angeles (alone with my 3 rescue dogs:)

    Thank you both for another wonderful video. I was in San Cristobal first in 1992 and again in 2005. I hope to visit again someday. So good to see many things just as I remembered. I was quite shocked and saddened on my return in 2005 to see how the entire valley had filled in with new buildings and settlement. In 1992 most of the valley was small farms and little villages. Na Bloom, however, looks exactly as I remember. It is a great resource. Many good memories from San Cristobal. Lucky you had the fireplace. It is often cold, and there is no heating in most all buildings. My tip: buy extra blankets when you arrive, and give them away to less fortunate when you leave.

    • @TheWayWeSawIt
      @TheWayWeSawIt  7 років тому

      Indeed, San Cristobal was rather full of tourists and it was not even high season so you can imagine how this place is now when high season hits... The cold weather (which was not that cold after all) was a nice way of having a good night sleep.

    Loved the courtyard from your Airbnb.AMAZING. I did crack up a bit when I say you guys sending the post card.My mom has a house in Guaymas and our neighbor there used to send us a Christmas card each year.We always got it after EASTER!!!We live in Arizona which is about a six hour car ride.If that post card is important I would send it through Fedex with tracking and all.Just my two cents.Thanks for sharing.I really enjoy your longer vids.

    • @TheWayWeSawIt

      That Airbnb was amazing indeed! Sending postcards is so old school especially now when you can easily send a WhatsApp. We actually found some cool postcards with very beautiful images so we decided to send them to friends and family. It does not really matter if they don't come to destination quickly, but hopefully they do arrive some day...

      Yes, San Cristobal is very very nice. We knew about the trouble there, and all seems to be fine now as you say. It would indeed be lovely to have a house like that. The garden alone was fantastic.

    I've just discovered your channel and am loving your videos. You guys are beautiful and your vlogs are fun to watch. My husband and I are nearing retirement age and we've been considering Mexico as a place to retire and escape from the U.S. in a few years. I've been looking tentatively at areas like the Lake Chapala area, San Miguel de Allende, and San Cristobal de las Casas as retirement destinations. From what I'm reading, it looks like some of these places are becoming heavily populated with other U.S. retirees and are losing some of their appeal because of this influx. From your travels, do you have any other areas in Mexico that you could suggest for an older gay couple in their 50s to live? I think that we'd prefer areas away from the coastline. We were stranded in the Virgin Islands during Hurricane Irma and again in Puerto Rico during Maria and would prefer not to experience that again.

    • @TheWayWeSawIt
      @TheWayWeSawIt  6 років тому

      Hello 3 Bears, thank you for your comment and for watching. We did not go to San Miguel de Allende but can imagine that it is rather americanized. We loved San Cristobal de las Casas, especially for the climate which is very moderate. We did not feel it to be too americanized although there were a lot of tourists and the prices were somewhat higher. You may want to look at Oaxaca City, the capital city of the State of Oaxaca. It has beautiful architecture, a well connected airport, some stunning archeological sites and excellent gastronomy. It is fairly cheap and has easy access to the coast if you still wish to go to the coast. We hope this helps. Have a lovely weekend ahead. All the best to yo guys.
