The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is the premier late night talk show on CBS, airing at 11:35pm EST, streaming online via CBS All Access, and delivered to the International Space Station on a USB drive taped to a weather balloon. I sometimes think people who only see snippets of Jon Batiste on Stephen Colbert don't realize how greatly talented he is. Good to see Corinne...another underrated talent.
That has been the case for me! From The Netherlands... Discovered Stephen's monologues on UA-cam when that Trump thing became president... From now on I will also watch the videos with Jon Batiste performing!
I mean he tours and all. There is no shame in discovering a great artist by chance. There are amazing artists out there I know I haven't been introduced to. Not every artist is supposed to take over the lime light. What I'm saying is Batiste is NOT underrated talent.
The artists that won't sell their artistry to the industry are treasures. Tamia, Chrisette, Emilie, Chance, Lalah.

Jon has a few albums, some with other artists, some EPs, but his most recent, solo, “Hollywood Africans,” is a modern day treasure. He is gifted in ways like Mozart or Debussy or Chopin, lyrically floating about six inches above the ground as his music flows through him to the piano, like a circuit broken only when he removes his fingers from the keys.
And Corinne! Oh, be still my heart, soul, mind and body for a muse or siren is singing!

Part of the mechanism is dislikeing other stuff, now answer to you question, pretty much any place in the world. And videos unliked are decided by statistics. The other solution is that someone created thousand of bots just to unlike everything because they enjoy while see8ng other people suffer or fail.

Much as I’m missing Stephen this week, I love Jon Batiste and all his musical collaborations. My dad is an intuitive musician and the sound of piano keys was my favourite to fall asleep to.

This is really a hard song to sing. Hathaway has so much churchy soul. Its hard to replicate for someone who's so jazzy but she along with Jon did a great job.

Corinne bailey Rae should do Amy Winehouse songs
This song has nothing to do with the Civil Rights movement in America, it isn't about the Black Americans. The lyric was written by Edward Howard, for and about the mental pain that Donny Hathaway, who was diagnosed with a mental health issue when the song was written, was experiencing at the time. Edward Howard said:
"What was going through my mind at the time was Donny, because Donny was a very troubled person. I hoped that at some point he would be released from all that he was going through. There was nothing I could do but write something that might be encouraging for him."
Years later, the song began to be interpreted as being written about Black Americans Civil Rights, primarily due to Spike Lee, inaccurately and misleadingly featuring Aretha Franklin's 1992 version at the end of his biographical film Malcolm X. However, as Howard said:
"A lot of black people have taken the song for some sort of anthem. I didn't write it for that, though. It doesn't have that significance for me." Edward is the brother of the late jazz saxophonist George Howard.

Jon Batiste (and Staying Human) are doing it their way. They don't fit in any prebuilt box and never will. As far as success, they have it. They are trailblazers, and some people fear that. Awards and publicity are not necessarily a measure of success.
