Assuming Meruem allowed kurapika to attack, he'd still obliterate kurapika. Kurapika's cheat move, judgement chain can only be used against the troupe so no instant kill for meruem. Other than that there is no feat of strength kurapika can have that is stronger than Netero's zero hand.

The DC was also stated to contain herbs capable of granting immortality. This is likely how Don is capable of living this long. We know the Chimera Ants came from the Dark Continent from Kite, if Don has been there for who knows how long it's likely he ran into other creatures from there. If a single ant from the DC was capable of conjuring Meruem in a few days, just imagine what other beasts are lurking in the Dark Continent. Don Freecs obviously knows something others don't and it's likely he is one of the strongest characters in HxH. Nanika/Alluka with the help of a wish user also has the power to rid of Meruem easily. Not only that she could grant someone more power with ease. Luckily Killua is the only person who knows how Nanika completely works so no one will abuse this. Killua doesn't abuse this himself because he loves Alluka/Nanika and it feels wrong using someone like that for power or anything along those lines. Especially because there is a cost for wishes like that. It's probably safe to assume there are others who come close to Meruem. I do see where you're coming from though.
