Oh thank you so so much, Kimberly!! For watching and for always leaving the kindest, supportive comments! I really appreciate this more than you know! ❤️
I recently came across your channel and I cannot explain how much addictive your videos are. I am watching your videos all day. I am trying to learn from you being a beginner. You are such a great mentor. Love from India
Your videos are fantastic. I feel like it’s helping me learn so much and I love how natural your soaps are. Thanks for sharing so much information. I would like to be able to make soap for my family & gifts for my friends while supporting other soap makers. Thank you again.
Thank you so much, LeAnne!! You're very welcome. I'm so glad you find them helpful! That's exactly how I started my soap making journey...reading websites and watching SO many UA-cam videos so I could make soap for my family and friends. It's such a fun hobby. Good luck with your soap making! :)
Another fabulous video! Lovely soap, well-paced, clear video, and even the recipe and sources! Thank you for sharing your talent and knowledge with us! I'm a fan! :)
I'm new to soaping and just found your videos they are so helpful and informative and your soaps are just absolutely beautiful hopefully someday I can reach that skill and want to thank you so muchfor sharing your recipes now I don't feel quite so lost thanks a million
I am just mesmerised by your videos. It's so beautiful to watch, such a delight, the perfection of the gesture, the clean work, the perfection of the results... one can see you make these from the heart! Im subscribed to your channel and i dont even make soap! Thanks so much for sharing
Always such beautiful soap! So I tried this yesterday, I thought I was doing great up until it was too late when I realized I forgot to check how my fragrance oil preforms! So with literally 3-4 oz of soap on a spoon, I managed to get out of mold and let’s say the effort was great & all my kids will be mailed a slice! Lol
Really beautiful Holly, and I can tell you, I loved the way this lathered! Where does the rosemary oleoresins come in? I have tried to use it and it really discolored my soap
Thank you, Jenifer! I add the rosemary oleoresin to the warmed oils. But only a very tiny amount - .08% of the total oils. So for a 1000g recipe, I’d only add .8 g. :)
Lovely, delicate design. I also use (exclusively) natural colorants and essential oils in my soaps. I imagine you mixed kaolin clay with essential oils to anchor the scent - am I right? Do you find it makes a difference? I haven’t made side by side comparison so I find it hard to tell. Also, I never mixed clay straight into the essential oils, I’ve always added it to soap batter. But I tried your method today and I’m really looking forward to see what happens! Thank you for sharing, Holly. Joanna
I’ve learned so much from watching your videos, thank you! When you add distilled water to your clays do you subtract the amount of water you use from your lye solution?
Sometimes but it really depends on the shade of the white kaolin clay. I find some to be more gray than white, and those don't really help. I usually try different suppliers to find the whitest I can. BrambleBerry used to have super white kaolin. Right now I'm using some from Mad Micas that definitely seems to help lighten the soap.
Thank you! I purchased it from Nurture Soap (7.5 lb silicone mold) - bit.ly/2NmtMy1 (that's an affiliate link but you can just go to nurturesoap.com if you'd rather not use it) 😊
Hi, im new to soap making and I really love this video. Can you explain more about how to calculate the percentage in the ingredients? thank you so much
Hi Holly! Your work is incredible! I was wondering can the cacao butter be substituted with mango butter? Also, is it necessary to anchor the EOs with kaolin clay? Thanks and your craft is awesome!!
Thank you! I’ve never used mango butter, but I have read that you can use it in place of either shea or cocoa butter. The SAP values will probably be different, so the new recipe would need to be run through a lye calculator. Regarding the kaolin, it’s not necessary at all. I’ve heard it helps anchor the scent, but I honestly don’t know. I should probably test that. 😊 I really just like how the soap feels when I include it. Thanks for asking!

does the kaolin clay add to the whiteness of the base?

Thank you so much! I get most of my clays from Nurture Soap Co. They don’t sell an orange clay, so I buy that one from Symphony Scents.
