      Los Angeles police wear a distinct midnight navy class B uniform.
      We wear French blue with a gold stripe down the leg. We also wear external body armor which separates us from local police

      That’s part of the problem.
      the property owner does care someone is creating a disturbance or making a mess on their property and refusing to leave.
      Typically when we pull up, the negative elements remove them self
      Sometimes folks refuse to leave , hide or flat out say no I’m not going to leave.
      So in the rare situations when we do make an arrest It would be much more cost efficient for the city to train us / certify us how to do it and transport them to jail
      It should be noted this would only negatively impact the bottom line however we believe this is the right thing to do.

    I agree they need more training before getting a city contract to deal with low-level crimes, but I applaud what they are trying to do 👍
    - I did armed Patrol accounts for a security company in Central Texas late 2000's & we had the old Police VCR recording in our trunk wired thru to little Asus mini-laptops in our vehicles plus live recordings while on property onto SD cards & yes we responded to low-level crime calls from our properties to determine if law enforcement needed to be called. We would escort homeless people from our properties but not arrest them . Too many areas have law enforcement stretched too thin & more is needed. A lot more training for security officers is also needed

    I fully support this type of proactive security, especially because I believe in the free market and lean towards libertarian ideals. However, they should be careful not to overstep and engage in law enforcement activities such as clearing buildings and arresting for trespassing. Escort them out and advise the client to invest in a better security system to prevent this.
    I hope the security industry continues to grow and augment law enforcement. Perhaps proper communication and training would help so they know how to deal with these situations in a more suitable manner.

    • @LosAngelesProfessionalSecurity
      @LosAngelesProfessionalSecurity  2 роки тому +3

      One question, what happens when we try to remove them from the building and they say fuck you I’m gonna stay here and smoke crack
      And the owner of the building has a plumber set to arrive the next hour.
      Do we call local police and wait a few hours? Cross our fingers they show up, there is a 40% chance no one will show
      Do we go in with 3 to 11 guys, enter with a shield and proper PPE and arrest the subject ( remember the subject made it clear he is not leaving on his own accord )
      It truly is a shame that we are clogging up the system with this chickenshit, however put yourself in the shoes of someone who owns a building if there’s someone inside refusing to leave you want them out.
      This is one of the services we provide.

    • @Throwback-Films
      @Throwback-Films 2 роки тому

      If you are truly a libertarian you would not support this type of private security. These organizations especially such proactive private security companies with armed response units provide a path to fascism. They will become the enforcement arm for large corporations. And nothing makes local government jump faster than big businesses. Just like the Federal reserve Bank is not part of the government, and they have their own police force with powers of arrest that actually patrol their Banks. But nobody's seems to know that because they have blurred the line between private security and government and police. And the bottom line is they are relying completely on the people they are interacting with not knowing the law. I wouldn't give one of these square badges the time of day. And before anyone can arrest another person for trespass they must have a complaint from the property owner. And that means all the property owners. If the husband says he doesn't want that person in the garage get him out of here. And that person goes to court and starts the trial and says the wife told me I could be there, he wins. and FYI I'm a retired defense attorney having handled over 5,000 cases. One thing that they have the benefit of is they are not constrained by the constitution. And therefore as long as they are not acting at the request of the police and as long as they have not become an extension of the police, they can actually turn over evidence to the police that, had the police seized that evidence it would have been inadmissible. But the bottom line is like I said earlier, they are relying on the fact that they are dealing with the lowest forms of humanity that have no idea about the law or their rights. Because if you remember in this video when there was a car stopped along skid row and a gentleman was talking to at the window and Mr square badge asked him what he was doing there, the gentleman replied none of your f****** business. So there's a guy that knows his rights somewhat and as you could see square badge could not do anything about that. But 99 out of 100 crackheads out there wouldn't even know the difference between the square badge and the real badge. And that is what the square badges are relying upon

    I cannot speak to the specific laws of California, but this does seem like a very good idea and a good Department. I am a professional law-enforcement officer of almost 20 years service. The only thing you have to watch is going beyond the limits of your jurisdiction and authority. Never transported subject, and never put them into your vehicle. You have no need to do that. Leave the subject where you detain them. If a detention is necessary.

      Here in California we can’t detain anybody, we make an arrest under penal code 837

There is a reason why you and your company can not take and book the people that you so call "arrest"!! Hi JayPitts first of all your command of the English language is incredible. Secondly a security guard makes an arrest under penal code 602. In fact, it would be illegal for a security officer to detain anyone. a security officer has no right or legal privilege to detain anyone only to make an arrest but then again, you have that same power the only differences we have the training experience and tools on our belt to effectively make the arrest

I understand the LAPD officers frustration regarding u all doing building searches and possibly going beyond the scope of your duties. I have experience on both sides of the fence. Yes, Jay Pitts we make arrests, and when we do the neighboring police agency is required to take the arrest .
      We do believe it should be our responsibility to transport them to jail instead of the locals
      Shouldn’t the police be doing police things not taking our prisoners to jail? But they do everyday ……
      But then again, we think the California highway patrol should not have been doing security details for large companies that were suffering from mob style robberies. We believe they should have paid for private security instead of leaning on the government.

Per constitution of free speech... there are case laws that were heard an decided at the u.s. Supreme Court that banned law enforcement an government from arresting for asking for help, panhandling. Someone walking up to someone an asking for a little help is no longer a criminal offense. “Why can’t we take them to the station” I see your issue here. You’re trying to be the police but you shouldn’t try to be. You’re security, you are using citizens arrest powers that anybody can use, and I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, you guys have a good response time and a level of personal security that Police can’t match with you that’s why businesses contract with you. But now let’s say boom, you are granted arrest powers like law enforcement, now you have to take them to the station, spend 2-3 hours booking them (that’s if their complying), if their injured take them to the hospital and stay with them, write the report, go to court, now you lose officers who are available then you lose your response time, and that just leaves you as another slow responding law enforcement agency with nothing different to offer your clients.

    I honestly have absolutely no idea if that wasn't just a joke or not but I do think we absolutely need a response team that just goes around responding to mental health related calls and domestic related issues with zero lethal capability or only has the ability to act purely in self defense and if that's a taxpayer funded private company than so be-it.
    Just do know that going in weapons aimed at a squatter actually may open you up to be legally shot and killed by the squatter. A combination of squatters rights and you coming in as an aggressor may allow lethal force to be used in self defense under specific circumstances that could apply. Whether or not the property owner hired you is largely irrelevant, especially if the squatters can prove they were there for a long enough duration.

    Can a private citizen make an arrest in the State of California? California Penal Code section 837 allows a private person to make a citizen’s arrest of a private person who commits a misdemeanor in a citizen’s presence, or commits a felony and a citizen has reasonable cause to believe the perpetrator committed it.
    If the accused is found not guilty or charges are dismissed the private person whom made the arrest can be liable in a civil action for faults arrest.

      What were ultimately asking for is permission and training to transport someone after we have arrested them.
      The reason is there are not that many police cars out and about, so if we take a police car out of service to transport our prisoner we feel that is waste of city resources and we think The burden should be on the arresting organization
      This is how it is done in other states
      Think about it like this if there’s six cars in one area and 1 or 2 come out to clear the building then one takes possession and transports our prisoner that unit would be out of service for at least 3 hours
      Shouldn’t we be doing that so the police can stay out on the street to protect the city ?
