I'm anxiously awaiting Part 2 of this wonderful presentation. Like Bob Gilchrist mentioned in the comments section, autopilot options and operations are of particular interest to me as well.
Great videos. When (not if) I win the Euromillions jackpot , the first thing I'll do is buy a Bell 407GXi. Oh wait, the first thing I'll do is make a will, then buy a Bell 407GXi...
Bell....doing what they do. They reach back in the spare parts bin and come up with a hybrid Civil/Military aircraft with a minimum of investment and new stuff. The Civi 407 was made possible due to the Army's parts bin left over from the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior program (engine/rotor) . Having said all that and being 407 Rated, it is a World apart from the old Jet Ranger platform especially in ease of starting, visibility, smooth ride and safety. I'd love to have one.
Cool, well done - and thanks! Question: Will the IFR-certified 407GXi candidate for the US Navy contract make it to the UK? That had a 4-axis AP - and (I expect) all pax seats are foward-facing (as it was intended for training). Club seating is good for corporate VIP use but forward-facing is more desirable for the private owner-pilot.
I thought you might enjoy this video as it shows necessary upgrades and a coupled approach in the 407GXi. ua-cam.com/video/eOcLJibV1Vw/v-deo.html&ab_channel=SureFlight
@@HelixAvBell I don't think that is true about the seating in the Navy trainers, the requirement was for forward-facing rear observer seats. You are right about the 407 candidate AP - it was only the H135 Navy candidate that had a 4 axis AP; the successful bid (TH-119) had a 3-axis AP.
Ok can somebody give me a DEFINITIVE answer? Why do you primarily operate a Bell jet Ranger series (206,407,etc) from the RH side, and a Hughes/MD 500 series from the LHS?
The high viz windows are a bubble window, but you can also order standard doors with wedge windows, you can find these on Aeronautical Accessories website.
@@HelixAvBell The 429 is a very capable aircraft. I did some high speed tactical work in a H 146 and I was very surprised at its agility. I would like to put the B 429 through a similar test to experience the difference.
@MB Exactly!! You would have thought someone at Bell would have had the sense to replicate, but modernize the 206's lines. The 505 is a total fail aesthetically...that's what happens when Bell Canada controls the design.
The Bell Jet Ranger design is the Boeing 747 design to the helicopter world. Iconic and unsurpassed!
I would say the Bell Jet Ranger series is the equivalent of the Ford mustang, and the Hughes/MD 500 series is the equivalent of the Chevy Corvette..
The high vis windows are a definite must for these birds.

ABSOLUTELY SWEET MACHINE!!!
Others use drones for their aerial shots and “B” roll.... hold my 🍺 beer. .... he uses a whole 505 helicopter 🚁
Well done ,one fine day I will come to buy this machine with combination of blue black yellow and white colors
This baby is so awesome amazing video
Cool walk around and intro! It's gotta be about the best looking chopper out there!
Very good aircraft and well presented video 👍

Hi Bob, the cabin is identical to any other 407GXi, i.e. club seating, and it has 3-axis auto pilot. It is FAA certified already.

I´d just buy the thing because if the epic Tron Legacy Soundtrack
.
How do you think the Bell compares to the H 145 Airbus helicopter?
The H145 is a twin-engined, IFR-certified machine with a 4-axis AP and costs a great deal more. It cannot sensibly be compared to a 407.
@MB Thanks for your dumb answer
Hi David, the 407 is in a different category to the 145, our equivalent to that is the Bell 429.

Tron ost!
Whow nice ship.a bet a bet pricey.
That is one sweet aircraft. Compared to the 505, the 407 is a beauty queen while the 505 is the ugly duckling
