Cause it is Buster Poseys fault. Wanna get ran over by a speedy train then don’t complain and don’t start a tantrum, it’s simple be in front of home plate then swing for a tag. Wanna get injured? Then ey don’t complain when you about to get hit.
harryRS729 how the catcher could have easily given the lane, but instead he oddly stood in the way. Don't wanna get run over move out the way plain and simple.
DetroitisReal i get that but he made the decision to block the lane he could have side tagged. Both being ejected I guess makes sense to keep the fighting from continuing.
It was a legal block of the plate because the throw took him there and it was a legal truck because the catcher did not provide a lane to slide. The problem is people/teams either don’t know/get the rule or they pick and choose when they think the rule is applicable.
Kemp was in the right here, I'm no Dodgers fan but the base line was clearly blocked and he was pushed first. Get off the tracks when the train is coming!
Dan The Jester Although I appreciate your subjective opinion, I still stand by my comment. I don't appreciate these new rules and feel they detract from the game.
The catcher had zero time to make a path for the runner... the throw took him up the baseline. The runner hammered the catcher and attempted dislodge the ball. Totally fine with it. The catcher then pushed the hitter and talked some shit and was pushed back. Minor incident, no need to eject either player. The way things are now in the world nothing else is to be expected.
Donnie Poff, he really shouldn’t be playing catcher if he’s not willing to get trucked at home plate once in a while. Kemp didn’t even come in with ill intent. His goal was to knock the ball out of the catchers mitt.
At first glance, I actually agreed with you. However, after a re-watch, I don't think Chirinos would have pushed Kemp for getting trucked alone. Immediately after the collision, as he's standing up, Kemp shifts his weight back into Chirinos and pushes him backwards with his shoulder. I think it's the combination between getting trucked, then trying to get up, and being shoved backwards again (by a guy that's obviously upset that you just got him out - in fact - that might be the "baby" attitude you were talking about). I don't care either way, but after really looking at what happened, I think Kemp instigated the confrontation.
Chirinos said he didn’t have a problem with the play he said good shit but he had a problem with Kemp coming up after getting up and coming up with his shoulder on him kind of pushing him
Kemp had every right to run him over, chirinos also had the right to be mad but not the right to shove Kemp. The Buster Posey rule has caused this to happen because no one is clear on the actual rule. It looked to me like the ball took Chirinos in to the base path but others may see it differently. Both players played the game correctly other than the scuffle.
Ryan Johnson In past years catchers would put the mitt and ball right into the face of the runner, with every right to deter being ran over. At least that's what we were taught how to play.
I didn't think you were allowed to barrel the catcher these days - things were much less complex in the days before the Posey rule! This is all taking away from what the hell was the third base coach thinking there sending him!
Clean play at the plate, Kemp had nowhere to go. Catchers take multiple hits like this every year and most aren't babies about it, it comes with a catcher's job
He got kicked out because of the fight not the collision. Catcher did his job by blocking the plate to prevent a run and Kemp tried to run him over to jar the ball loose and score. I have no problem with the catcher taking exception to it either. I don't know why some are comparing this to Rizzo's slide, two completely different scenarios
I believe that both guys initial actions were within the rule, but I think within that split second Kemp knew he was going to be out, and decided to go all out. Which it wasn't illegal, but distasteful cause Chirinos to get upset reacting in the way he did. Over all a great play to watch
Good ol' fashioned baseball play. I'm only in my 30's and that's how I remembered the game being played! Actually, Kemp knew he couldn't really truck his ass to knock the ball out. That was light.
Actually, the commentators hit it on the nail: they were both right. It's not sbout being a Dodgers fan, it's very clear that Kemp had a right to barrel and the catcher had a right to field.
Total Clean play by Kemp,He wasn't going for his head or anything dirty, All he was doing was trying to shove the ball loose,Kemp could have done way more damage with his 6'4 frame
Catcher was in the act of fielding so wasn't obstruction and Kemp's bump was legal. Catcher should've been ejected and not Kemp as catcher started fight.
Why not the base runner go around the catcher when he is trying to score at home plate instead of running into the catcher when he is trying to tag the base runner as an put out to prevent from scoring.
Can we say, biased commentary? Chorino had to move into the base path to field the ball then had to tag the runner. Kemp had no business trucking him like that when he was clearly out by a mile.
The problem with the Buster Posey rule is at the Umpire is then supposed to tell the catcher interference impeding whatever term they want to use your interfering with. Runner are there for you are in error The only problem is that when you bowl into the catcher who is blocking your path that's also part of the Buster Posey rule that says you can't do that because of the high degree probability of serious injury So why didn't the Umpire throw both of them out instantaneously because of that he stood there watch them call him out and didn't do anything and neither did any of the other umpires Their job is to enforce the rules and he will do that and you have egotistical baseball players brawling right and left so they both could have ejected by the Umpire before the fight starts then warnings issued to both teams that you don't do that either or end of story
The stupidest rule that I can recall. The whole idea is to prevent your opponent from scoring. If you block the plate with the intent on preventing a run you gotta be prepared to get steamrolled. Mike Scioscia used to block the plate like a boss
Only the catcher should have been ejected. From the angle of the throw from right field he could have safely stepped out of the lane to catch the ball and still gotten the tag. And then he was the first to shove cause he was butt hurt. Still a dumb ambiguous rule either way.
That’s the stupidest crap ever. This is Major League Baseball and if you want to be a baby and get out of the baseline to possibly let in a run then you can go back to AAA
Im not a Matt Kemp fan, in ther least, but, Chirinos not only didn't matthr an effort to get out of the path, he almost made one to stay in it. Kemp was in the right.
It's a nice clean hit... if this was the NFL. Kemp was out by a mile and his only intention was to run through the catcher. Whether or not the vague rule about catcher's blocking a path to plate condones this hit or not, that was not a clean baseball play.
That's actually a legal play. If the catcher blocks the plate or lane in which a player has no where to go then he's probably going to get run over. I've seen it many times in baseball. Catcher held on to the ball so he's out.
For the love of god, Chirinos had the ball and was sitting on top of the plate, he knew Kemp is a big dude and will definitely use his weight to knock the ball out so he'd be safe, Kemp knew he was screwed when he saw the ball get there before he was, he has one job to and that it is score so he took a shot. The picture ain't pretty but they wanna win. The fight was caused from the shove Kemp gave to Chirinos after the hit, they're both fired up and mad and the shove just topped it off. Jesus. Some of yall are dumb.
The Announcer's have no clue what they're talking about. Everything that happened was perfectly legal. "the catcher can't block the plate unless he is in the act of fielding the ball" WRONG! once a fielder has the ball he can do whatever he wants, including block the plate! Once he does though, if you don't give the runner that lane to slide in, be ready to get trucked
Kemp back with the boys in blue? I need to watch more again anyways im a catcher and if a throw takes me on the line and i cant move out the way then its just gonna happen i just make sure i get the out
Kemp gave way. He chopped up his steps to slow down. He blocked the plate he lowered the shoulder...if anyone's at fault here its the 3rd base coach for sending him.
If Dodgers showed a fraction of Kemp's fight on this play in last year's WS, they'd won game 7. I'm sorry to say man but Dodgers got punked last year. I'm still hurting...
Buster Posey Rule. If you don’t want to get ran over, leave a path and just got for the tag, or else you better be ready for some heat.
KuKuKlock123 don't stand on the tracks when the train's coming through.
Yeah blame Buster Posey for everything
Posey didn’t block the plate.. he sure made a comeback though, best catcher/1st base in the game #MVP
That sheep back home probably misses you huh Rube? Baaah
Cause it is Buster Poseys fault. Wanna get ran over by a speedy train then don’t complain and don’t start a tantrum, it’s simple be in front of home plate then swing for a tag. Wanna get injured? Then ey don’t complain when you about to get hit.
Rangers Broadcasters: Kemp was in the wrong.
Dodgers Broadcasters: Chirinos was in the wrong.
Todd S. Exactly how it was in 2016: Odor vs Bautista
Dodgers broadcast = right
@@CosbyTheCaterpillar would have loved to hear the Toronto announcers during that fight. Can't seem to find it though.
Ryan I found it on UA-cam somewhere
@@Ryan-pe5qe here m.ua-cam.com/video/MIER1-mEoGY/v-deo.html
Don't stand on the tracks when the train is coming through.
Charlie Walter Parkman
Why is the catcher mad? He was blocking the plate and line. Kemp wasn't wrong in this instance.
Ronald Cooke they were both not wrong
harryRS729 how the catcher could have easily given the lane, but instead he oddly stood in the way. Don't wanna get run over move out the way plain and simple.
Ronald Cooke Slow motion makes it look like they can react and avoid contact. In real time, they most likely can not.
DetroitisReal i get that but he made the decision to block the lane he could have side tagged. Both being ejected I guess makes sense to keep the fighting from continuing.
It was legal on both side it was the lean and push from Kemp that ignited the fight
Legal play you block the plate your gonna get trucked my dude...he held on too kemps a big man
the catcher goes where the ball takes him. Period.
SORE LOSER LIBERAL but kemp pushed his arms out which you can’t do
He was out by a mile though
It was a legal block of the plate because the throw took him there and it was a legal truck because the catcher did not provide a lane to slide. The problem is people/teams either don’t know/get the rule or they pick and choose when they think the rule is applicable.
rtyable COMPLETELY RIGHT
100% true
the truck was illegal because he extended his arms during.
no he didn't, he was protecting himself from the collision. it extended when he was falling to the ground to brace his fall.
You man have won the internet.
Kemp was in the right here, I'm no Dodgers fan but the base line was clearly blocked and he was pushed first. Get off the tracks when the train is coming!
Based on the rule kemp was in the wrong
I see it as the throw was off line
And once he caught he he couldn’t move and that’s when Kemp collided with him
wrong. Chirinos had to go there to get the throw. Kemp didnt have to run him over like a train
My first thought would be "where's Odor so I can wrap him up to make sure everyone stays awake."
Bellinger looked at the catcher and that dude back the fuck off so quick 😂😂
The new rule sucks. Screw that crap. Let's just play baseball
David Carlile the best comment ⬆️
Lol I love this type of comment. "let's just play baseball" as if that means literally anything (it doesn't)
Dan The Jester Although I appreciate your subjective opinion, I still stand by my comment. I don't appreciate these new rules and feel they detract from the game.
I mean if you think that season ending injuries due to this type of play is “playing baseball” then you’re really Delusional.
David Carlile I prefer the NBA but I just wanted to see a shoving match.
So what was Kemp supposed to do then?
The catcher had zero time to make a path for the runner... the throw took him up the baseline. The runner hammered the catcher and attempted dislodge the ball. Totally fine with it. The catcher then pushed the hitter and talked some shit and was pushed back. Minor incident, no need to eject either player. The way things are now in the world nothing else is to be expected.
way too many rule changes..in baseball...if this was 20+ years ago there would be no bench clearing issue...just regular hardball
"No blood, no harm, no foul" - Chick Hearn
It was crazy I was at that game
Hard play at home, no issue though. Catcher is a baby for pushing Kemp. You stopped him, no need to instigate a fight over a fair play.
Donnie Poff, he really shouldn’t be playing catcher if he’s not willing to get trucked at home plate once in a while. Kemp didn’t even come in with ill intent. His goal was to knock the ball out of the catchers mitt.
Donnie Poff True, but the catcher could have put the mitt and ball right in Kemp's face, used to be done all the time, with no issues.
At first glance, I actually agreed with you. However, after a re-watch, I don't think Chirinos would have pushed Kemp for getting trucked alone. Immediately after the collision, as he's standing up, Kemp shifts his weight back into Chirinos and pushes him backwards with his shoulder. Bob Smith my thoughts exactly! Third base coach sending Kemp was far too stupid.
Awe beautiful play by Kemp! Reminds me when I knock down a catcher blocking plate back in little league #memories
Isn't this the 3rd bench clearing this year???wow😮long time no see 👀
Samuel Russo So far it was Colorado and San Diego then Boston and NY
Looks like a typical night at Dodger stadium, though most of the time, this happens in the parking lot.
This is Lame. Kemp wasn't in the wrong. You block the plate, you're gonna get bowled over.
Love seeing Matt Kemp ready to rumble
Dodgers win, how does it feel rangers fans. Let's go
Fluffy Goat lol you've won 5 straight divisions and you never won the world series lmao😂😂😂
Friday the 31st At least we made it that far, unlike your team. Hahaha
Fluffy Goat ha how does it feel getting beat by the Astros in the World Series how dat feel😂😂
Dog Nation it feels good cause at least we make it to the world series hahahaha
Dodgers are #1... end of conversation
Clean play at the plate, Kemp had nowhere to go. Catchers take multiple hits like this every year and most aren't babies about it, it comes with a catcher's job
Bellinger was gonna bodybag Chicharones😂😂
Kemp got a glove to the face and that one guy got a fist to the throat by Kela 😂
Kemp didn't like the fact he was out and decided to run over chirinos
Thrown out for pushing hahaha how lame . Should have just thrown the catcher out as he was throwing punches at more than one person .
blake sessions Kemp started the fight
He got kicked out because of the fight not the collision. Catcher did his job by blocking the plate to prevent a run and Kemp tried to run him over to jar the ball loose and score. This is the fourth fight in MLB in 2018. Baseball is a violent sport. Since baseball is like hockey because of fighting.
David Tosh Third
All around good play, just should've let them fight
Good ol' fashioned baseball play. I'm only in my 30's and that's how I remembered the game being played!
Actually, Kemp knew he couldn't really truck his ass to knock the ball out. That was light.
Right/wrong I'd would've plowed right into the catcher if he doesn't get out of my way. MLB should change the rules to not allow blocking of the path.
Lol, Chirinos was trying to fight Bellinger.
Kemp still thinks its 2014
Thomas Yuile look at his numbers you’ll be thinking it was 2011 :-)
Ahh dogers fan 😴😴
Actually, the commentators hit it on the nail: they were both right. It's not sbout being a Dodgers fan, it's very clear that Kemp had a right to barrel and the catcher had a right to field.
Thomas Yuile I mean yea? But you can objectively look at baseball success because of stats
Sergio Sanchez he had the ball just slide and no one will care
He was blocking the path.... This is a legal hit in my opinion. Chirinos setup in front of the plate before the ball arrived.
I’m laughing at how everyone got worried about odor when he goes running in there’s like two people holding him back 😂
This Posey rule is almost like converting the NFL to a no tackle two hand touch league or not allowing any checking at all in hockey 😉
Chirions thought twice after pushing bellinger
5 years ago this is a normal play! Smh.... 🤦♂️
Total Clean play by Kemp,He wasn't going for his head or anything dirty, All he was doing was trying to shove the ball loose,Kemp could have done way more damage with his 6'4 frame
Bellinger like wait I’m not really trying to fight lmao
Perfect throw by mazara
Clean hit legal block
You can see Matt Kemp when hes getting up push his back into him
The rangers should be the most hated team from all the things they start
What, pray tell? Casual
Krissy L Kemp started the fight
In past years, the catcher would shove the mitt and ball into the face of the runner, if he thought he was going to be ran over, the good ole days.
Catcher was in the act of fielding so wasn't obstruction and Kemp's bump was legal. Catcher should've been ejected and not Kemp as catcher started fight.
aussiepete89 disagree. He caught the ball and turned to square up. He instead should've stepped towards the mound one step and reached for the tag.
Roach you don’t move Chirinos was right and Kemp did shove Chirinos first with his shoulder
aussiepete89 Kemp started it
As long as you have the ball you can block the plate as a catcher I know this rule all to well
Kemp did the right thing. The catcher was in the way
Kemp should have ran faster at him. He slowed down a few feet before the collision.
Why not the base runner go around the catcher when he is trying to score at home plate instead of running into the catcher when he is trying to tag the base runner as an put out to prevent from scoring.
David Tosh because he has a better chance of jarring the ball loose
He could've slid to the right side of the plate with his left hand going across the plate
On the Ariel view kemp didn’t even touch the plate😂, I don’t think either side was wrong but kemp blew it outta proportion
Kemp knows he's out, plows the road old school - not 'new rule' & pushing ensues.
Runner are there for you are in error
The only problem is that when you bowl into the catcher who is blocking your path that's also part of the Buster Posey rule that says you can't do that because of the high degree probability of serious injury
So why didn't the Umpire throw both of them out instantaneously because of that he stood there watch them call him out and didn't do anything and neither did any of the other umpires
Their job is to enforce the rules and he will do that and you have egotistical baseball players brawling right and left so they both could have ejected by the Umpire before the fight starts then warnings issued to both teams that you don't do that either or end of story
Part of the game. Leave it to the homer announcers to call it anything else.
I'm going to punch you with my glove because I don't want to mess up my nails on my other hand lol
Kemp has every right to do that, even within the new rules. The new rules are also idiotic and not baseball.
What else are you supposed to do ?
Don't block the plate if u don't want to be ran over buster posey
The stupidest rule that I can recall. The whole idea is to prevent your opponent from scoring. If you block the plate with the intent on preventing a run you gotta be prepared to get steamrolled. Mike Scioscia used to block the plate like a boss
Google Pete Rose and Ray Fosse All Star game collision. This was tame compared to that collision.
Only the catcher should have been ejected. From the angle of the throw from right field he could have safely stepped out of the lane to catch the ball and still gotten the tag. And then he was the first to shove cause he was butt hurt. Still a dumb ambiguous rule either way.
the catcher goes where the ball takes him. Period.
Yeah we (umpires) are sure gonna let that shove go mhmmmm....NOT.
Texas Rangers are butthurt over something. What else is new?
That’s the stupidest crap ever. This is Major League Baseball and if you want to be a baby and get out of the baseline to possibly let in a run then you can go back to AAA
Kemp shoved Chirinos first with his shoulder
If you don't want to get trucked, just let the ball go.
The rule in that is not very clear. Wow...…..and here we go
Im not a Matt Kemp fan, in ther least, but, Chirinos not only didn't matthr an effort to get out of the path, he almost made one to stay in it. Kemp was in the right.
That is completely legal to run over the catcher. He cannot block the path to homeplate.
Crazy to believe I was there for that😳
You can see how nice the guy Cody Bellinger is unlike Robinson Chirimos
It's a nice clean hit... if this was the NFL. Kemp was out by a mile and his only intention was to run through the catcher. Whether or not the vague rule about catcher's blocking a path to plate condones this hit or not, that was not a clean baseball play.
Ugh what kind of a rule is this ?! This is so absurd
Wonder if kemp ever thought of jumping over him 😂
Okay, why do this have to be? It was an out to begin with! Kemp should have been the only one ejected for that mess!
Kemp is big dude. That was clean as all outside. He drop that ball then Kemp is safe.
That's actually a legal play. If the catcher blocks the plate or lane in which a player has no where to go then he's probably going to get run over. I've seen it many times in baseball. Catcher held on to the ball so he's out.
No need to run over the catcher when the ball clearly beats you home.
It’s not illegal if the catcher has the ball
Painful to listen to the ridiculous Dodger announcers. Miss you Vin!
Lonzo ball should study this, lesson on what it means/how to back your teamate(s) up...
For the love of god,
Chirinos had the ball and was sitting on top of the plate, he knew Kemp is a big dude and will definitely use his weight to knock the ball out so he'd be safe, Kemp knew he was screwed when he saw the ball get there before he was, he has one job to and that it is score so he took a shot. Set up wrong or not, Posey gave him a clear path for home plate but cousins deliberately went for posey anyway
Hey I get it. I’d come up fighting too if I got trucked. Natural instinct.
Kemp had no choice.... Chirinos needs to get some tissues or stop blocking the plate.
Good throw...
Kemp back with the boys in blue? I need to watch more again anyways im a catcher and if a throw takes me on the line and i cant move out the way then its just gonna happen i just make sure i get the out
This was how baseball used to be played.
That was clean
Some good old baseball!
This is what baseball used to be. Before this "Buster Posey" rule
I was just hoping Kemp didn't get hurt and not suspended. Obviously after the matter none of that happened
The good oldays when you’d truck em so hard to knock the ball out, let’s go back to that!
Kemp gave way. He chopped up his steps to slow down. He blocked the plate he lowered the shoulder...if anyone's at fault here its the 3rd base coach for sending him.
