  • Watch on-the-ground live footage of the final plowing lap with the 150 Case pulling 50 bottom plows. Our crew members Jeff Detwiler and Scott Anderson take you around the engine and plowing operations with raw cell phone footage.
Special thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this happen. See where the engine is headed next at www.150case.com.

Yeah, and it's only a single cylinder. Nice job and thank you for all the time and BOATLOADS of money spent on such a fine machine!!

Amazing to see this slice back in history, doing such amazing work, and now, in this video to see several drones flying overhead to film all of the action...truly a blend of the old and the new.

"Men only want one thing and its disgusting"
Men: watch a 4 minute and 38 second video about a steam tractor just doing what it does.

I find it fascinating that the 150 was so over-designed for that time period. Here it is pulling 50 bottoms when 2 or 3 was a big deal in those days.

If there wasn't so many riders on plow and engine, it would probably pull another 10 plows!

Takes it all in stride! Can it start from a stop with 50 bottoms in the ground?

If you’re looking to keep the boundaries of the field square, then for sure no. Each section of the plow has to be lowered in turn to keep those boundaries intact.
It might be able to start the plows with all of them engaged in the ground, but it seems doubtful.
As with steam locomotives, they can start way fewer cars moving if the slack has been pulled out of the train, but if the train is bunched up when starting it, the locomotive only has to start one car moving at a time as the slack is pulled out of the train.
Im guessing the same is true for this prairie locomotive.

Just keep pitching the coal in and make sure she's got water and oil , she'll do it . Take off hat to the designer and builders . 👍🇬🇧

I would seriously hate to see what it was that could stall this tractor out.
Not to most HP around but torque numbers that are insane.

Is the limit going to be traction (wheel slip) or front axle weight?

It’s not the same delivery. A steam engine makes its rated HP/TQ off idle, opening up the regulator or a traction engine or leaning on the Johnson bar on the footplate of a steam locomotive increases engine speed. Korys engine made 170/5,000+ on the prony brake dyno last year.

Walking in front of those plows looks dangerous. The average modern man is a clumsy creature and it doesn't take much to trip over a hump in the ground and fell under those plows. Especially with phones in their hands filming the event.
