    The Holosun 510C. It's like an overgrown Holosun 507C. I bought it to rotate around reviews guns. It is an open emitter reflex sight, and if we're all being honest, it has some great features. Ranging from multiple reticles, solar failsafe, shake awake, etc...
    What is the 1911 Syndicate? We do a few things. We started out as a real estate company primarily targeted at serving the military/LE/shooting/hunting communities. Consider it our "day job" and we can serve you pretty much anywhere in the USA. Next we're a content producer. We kind of fell into it semi by accident, and here we are today. We try to do things a little different and have some fun. Thanks for tuning in.

    I don't think there's anything wrong with Holosun. They're killing it in price, weight, and features. The new ACSS Vulcan pistol reticle is gonna be a game changer and it's on a Holosun. They're doing big things.

      Owned and used EOTechs a lot. What do I run now for my home defense rigs and AR pistols? HS510C-GR s. They fucking kick ass. Shake awake which has not even once given me any problem, non holographic so battery life is phenomenal, clear as hell reticle with ability to switch it up. Also, I put a 507C with the ACSS Vulcan on my Glock a month ago…never going back. So much easier to shoot under high stress and off handed. EOTech and Aimpoint need to get their shit together ASAP!

    The difference you see this one better is because the Eotech is a holographic and utilizes a laser. The Holosun uses an LED. The LED produces a much larger signature against the refracting surface and appears to be sharper. Because the laser is so fine it appears to be blurry because the human eye can’t focus on that small of an item. I don’t have a Holosun but will agree that my Trijicon MRO HD (LED) appears to be sharper than my Eotech EXPS3-4 (laser-holographic) but for more precise shooting, the Eotech is better under magnification as the 1 MOA dot remains at just that. In my MRO HD the 2 MOA dot gets magnified by whatever the magnifier is (in my case a 3x Trijicon magnifier makes it a 6 MOA dot.) Long explanation but each have their pros and cons. LED battery lasts longer and is “sharper” when looking at the dot but dot gets bigger under magnification. The holographic if a window gets cracked or broken you can still use it and it doesn’t provide forward infrared emissions when fighting against an enemy with night vision. I love them both!

    I bought a Holosun 403R a little over 2 years ago and have been using it as a beater optic to see if I could make it fail. Kept it on a truck gun for most of its life and honestly, have been stupid impressed by it. On setting 10 it got over 2 years of battery life and has survived falls, drops, etc.
    My only complaint is that the factory mounts are trash, so I stuck it on a Scalarworks T2 mount and it’s never lost zero through all the abuse.

I have zero regrets buying this optic. It is a solid product for a reasonable price. I just wish it was not made in China. But that's just my political leanings, not a criticism of the optic. Lmao! These go on all my guns now and i have sold quite a few of my really expensive optics that were just sitting on the shelf because they were replaced by these. i forgot to mention the main reason i even wanted one of these to begin with, its the perfect size for an AR or sub gun. the eotechs are just too big and goofy looking.

      Right, it's laser light, so it looks grainy (the correct term is "speckle") because it is coherent light. When it enters the eye, overlapping wavelets (reflections from various surfaces) interfere and cause "speckle."
      I am not a fan of the EoTech sights specifically because of that. The coherent laser light combined with speckling creates a dazzling effect that I find very distracting.
      The only downside to reflex/red-dot sights is if you have any astigmatism in your vision. This will cause the reticles to "bloom" and not appear sharp or focused. Unfortunately, there's no fix for that. People with astigmatism typically have to go with a prism sight or a tradition optic, like an LPVO.

    I think people are overthinking the whole open emitter thing. Yes, it could be a problem but it's actually just one finger swipe away from being cleared up just like getting mud on the lens of any other optic. The biggest concern I had was getting stuff on the "inside" of the glass, under the hood. Even that isn't a big deal though, it's just harder too deal with than simply wiping it with a finger.

    I am also a gear snob. Most of my rifles rock Aimpoint, Nightforce, Eotech, etc. But for my dedicated home defense supressed SBR, the 510C just works too well to pass up. I have astigmatism and so prism red dots just work better for me. It's held up well through multiple carbine courses and has my full confidence. It does feel a bit weird sitting on a suppressed Teir 1 SBR (DD Mk18), but I can't argue with the performance. I threw a riser on it and run it 1/3 cowitness with some fixed DD irons.
    The open emitter really isn't a big problem. Reflex optics have been this way for a long time, even ones fielded in the military. Even in heavy rain the image will still be clear. The only thing that might occlude the image is if dirt gets packed in there or you legit are under water. This optic can still take a crazy beating and work in adverse conditions.
    I actually ran this for a few days without a battery without knowing, since the solar panel generated enough power for a sufficient image. The shit just works! It's the number 1 $300 price point optic I recommend.

    You can actually get better battery life with a green dot if you understand how it works. If you look at two dots of light at the same power level, the green dot will appear to be 30 times as bright as the red light. This means that lower power levels can be used for green, saving battery power.

    The one without the dot is intended for CQC while giving you a more open sight picture. I haven't used this optic, hence why I'm watching this video.
    I don't think it would make that much of a difference though. A 65 MOA circle will encircle ~2in at 3 yards. The 2 MOA dot in the center will obscure ~1/16 of an inch. The dot only consumes 3.0769% of the height and/or width of the circle, and ~0.0947% of the area. So it's negligible on paper. But hey, if you like running it without the dot, I'm not going to say it's stupid.
    For those interested, the math behind MOA works like this. Oh, and bust out your calculators, and set them to degrees.
    r = d * tan( m / 60 ), where r is the spread, d is the distance to the target, and m is the MOA. The units for r and d must match btw. For example 2 MOA corresponds to a 3.1416 in (~π) spread at 150 yards
    3.1416 ≈ (150*36) * tan( 2 / 60 ).
    If you have the spread, and want to calculate MOA it would look like this.
    m = atan( r / d ) * 60
    I have seen spread approximated like this before.
    r = m * d / 100
    In this case, d is in yards while r is in inches. This is a close enough approximation for most shooters. At 1000 yards, the difference between the approximation, and the actual calculation is only 1/2 in, or about 4.5% error. At 10,000 yards, the difference is about 5 inches. So within the context of the distance most people shoot at, it's perfectly acceptable.
    That approximation does work in reverse too, as long as you keep in mind that r is in inches and d is in yards.

    Didn't see anybody else comment this but, the reason Eotech's reticle isn't sharp to you, and more fuzzy, is because its a laser emitter. The Holosun is an LED. That's why Eotechs are generally recommended for people with an astigmatism, because a red dot will "starburst". But that's also why Eotech battery life is like, 600 hours and most red dots are in the tens of thousands.

But I don't see it as "battlefield red dot"..then I would get one with enclosed emitter, and something that doesn't reveal your position in the dark, 100%.

  • @Fugettaboutit
    @Fugettaboutit 3 роки тому +1

    Holosun has an LED emitter like an RMR or an Aimpoint or MRO...the 510C essentially being like a large RMR. Eotechs are laser-projected holographic through a series of mirrors, so the reticle is more pixelated and for some blurrier. Also why the battery life on Holosun is much longer than the Eotech's.
    Holosun also makes a riser/spacer for the 510C which will bring it up to lower-1/3rd height. It installs between the main unit and its quick-detach base. I had a 510C and liked it, but for my go-to SHTF/bugout rifle I wanted an enclosed unit just in case of debris or water, and a little less bulk so I changed for a Holosun HS515GM. I considered the enclosed version of the 510c, the 512C which has that 'mailbox' look like the Vortex UH-1 (which is holographic like the Eotechs). But the 512C's main unit and base are one solid thing with no way to insert a spacer, and it's absolute cowitness height only.

I understand they have military contracts and really don't care about the regular guy but honestly I really just don't like my EOTech. I want to like it, I want to want to buy an Aimpoint, I want to want to buy Leupold, it's just that I really don't like them and for what I do is love to go shoot steel and see how far out I can hit from a variety of platforms none of these make it enjoyable which is why I like Holosun. I have one on my custom AR9, built on a Spikes Tactical ST-9X lower. I have it sitting on a Unity Fast Mount. Honestly, this is the first time playing with a "close to" 1.93 height optic and it's AMAZING! This is a must have on shorter CQB type setups that have sub-10.5 inch barrels. Fast target acquisition makes it good for tight urban spaces, and the mount and optic combination has that aesthetic that really works with the backward angle of glock mags. Makes the gun look like its surging forward. This is what I wanted, because most other Glock-mag fed AR9s look weird with 97% of all other optics.
    Really nice optic for urban concrete jungles, but the open emitter makes it a no-go in natural/rural, open environments. Overall, a really good option for the city dwellers looking for a home defense or truck gun option.

      @@usernamunavailiable read on the internet? I own one. I had to send it in for warranty because of the suggested remedies did not work. The capacitors get completely drained on occasion. I tried new batteries and left in sun, neither those worked. It wasn’t something I read. It was something I experienced.

    No clue why eotech still doesn't have shake awake or why no one else has solar fail safe. Don't they know we all build these as shtf rifles

    There is either a cheat sheet or a naked woman on the side of that huge boulder... Btw as it's been said below, an EOTech doesn't use an emitter, it's a holographic weapon sight. Another point to make is that if you crack/break the glass on a red dot, like the Holosun, your optic is bravo delta. A HWS like an EOTech can have damaged glass and still function as a usable optic with a usable reticle. So there is that. That's kind of a big deal for me and others who mount an EOTech to something other than a range gun. I'm also not aware of any Holosuns downrange nor have I seen them mounted to 240's or 249's. So there is that. But it is cheaper. There is that. But ultimately it is what it is and that's all it is. Except for those who would prefer a 1 MOA dot vs. 2. People like me. There is that. But you're kinda funny, so there is that. All in all I probably enjoyed this video more than I'm letting on.
    So there is that.

    Don’t cerakote it black, just sandblast the shroud. Matte titanium / black combo actually looks nice.
