How to set up a Holosun HE510C Optic:
Power: The power can be accessed through the (+) button to turn on, (+) AND (-) to turn off.
Brightness: Press (+) or (-) for manual brightness
Auto-Brightness: Press and hold (+) for 3 seconds until reticle blinks once
Reticle Selection: Press and hold (-) for seconds until the reticles changes. There are 3 types of reticle.
Timer Setting: Press and hold (+) for 3 seconds to turn on auto-brightness, release, press and hold (+) for 10 Seconds until the reticle blinks.
1 blink=10 minutes
2 blinks=1 hour
3 blinks=12 hours
4 blinks=desable
The elevation and windage can be adjusted with the tool provided in the box.
The quick detach system attaches with the lever on the rail.
Zero at gun range.
This is the only video I could find that showed you how to operate the electronics of a holosun product, thank you for taking the time to make this.

@@harveymanfrantinsingin7373 honestly man, it’s pretty sad when a person scours UA-cam specifically just to disparage somebody so they can feel superior to supplement whatever’s going on in their life… if you must know, reading a manuals (especially one written by a Chinese company)to program things like a red dot sight or a microwave clock isn’t as easy as seeing a demonstration in a video which is why he made this video and apparently 102 people agree with me. Furthermore, I’m dyslexic and I’m a visual learner. You should look into getting a hobby if this is really what you’re spending your time doing. Also, why are you watching this video if all you need to do is “read the manual”? You should look up the definition for hypocrisy…

This is the only video that explains the tricky sleep timer settings. I couldn't for the life of me get it to enter timer settings cause the manual doesn't explain that you have to quickly press + again after it changes modes. Thank you for this video. I have mine set to 10 mins now.

It mounts straight onto a picatinny? I’m trying to figure out how to get this on my m70. It’s hell trying to research.
Yeah the mount goes straight onto picatinny. No tools needed. It just has a lever
You do have to tighten the one bolt. I got the rs regulate yugo lower for my m70. With a akrk upper. Cost $220 out the door. Plus the holo sun $335

Thank you for this guide. One of the main reasons why I got this for my pcc is that it was said to maintain zero if you put it back on the same rail. Have you verified that?
I haven't taken it off at all since we zeroed it.

The instructions worked until it says to press the "_" button and looked all over for that not recognizing they used quotation marks to designate the minus button! I have an IQ of 133 so that may be the problem...LOL:) Thanks for your help! I've owned two of them for over a year and never changed the reticle before giving up.

Great instructional video. Would you recommend a Holosun 510c reflex type red dot over the tubular red dots? Would you say the Holosun 510c reticle is more crisp/clear than a tubular red dot sight?

100% more crisp. My eotech looks super pixelated compared to the holosun 510c green.

Is it supposed to be green out of the box? Or do you have to set it to green...because the one I just got and opened up is red, and I'm not seeing anything on changing the color of the reticle.
Yes green out of the box. The optic or the box will say HE or HS. If it says HS 507c then it's red. HE 507cis green.
@@WoodsDogwe figured it out after a bit...the box itself was labeled 510C-GR....but the optic itself was 510C

Thanks for the video! I was wondering if the 510c package that comes with the American Defense QD mount is an upgrade over the holosun mount that’s included? Any insight would be awesome thank you for the video
I believe the optic comes with a Holosun QD. The AD mount would be a 3rd party upgrade just like buying a unity fast or others.
On a shot gun mine lasted a year. Waste of $350.
Haven’t mounted mine yet but last night I was just trying to take battery tray out just to do it and the tray is so tight in there I can’t get it out. Didn’t want to force anything. Any ideas? Should I just ram rod it out?
Shouldn't be super hard. I think there's a gasket that holds it tight.
Ues flat part on provided tool to pry, the tray has a gasket that makes it a little difficult
How many clicks right or left move the green reticle up or down left or right?

It sounds like the quick detach mount springs. I'm not sure though.
Did you ever find out where the small springs go? They go inside of the long bolt that has a center tube both springs go in it. The tube that holds the latch.

Can you adjust the brightness in auto mode? When I'm at the lower setting I can see it adjust when lighting switches. When I turn the brightness up it seems like the auto light feature doesnt work and it just stays at the brightness I selected. Basically does the auto brightness only work on 1 setting?
No. The Auto-brightness feature disables when you change it manually.

@@palmer3030 yeah its hard to see in brightly lit areas on auto. I just keep mine on manual and keep it bright.
I just picked up my 510c and I just ran it on solar and the red dot was blinking?? So I took the battery tray out and put the battery in the right position and still the it blinks? I put it away in my safe frustrated that something was wrong with it took it out again and put it on and it was fine for 5minutes them all the sudden the damn thing started blinking again? I’m wondering if this battery is dead ? But how in the hell
Is holosun going to send a brand new red dot with a dead battery? I wonder if anyone else has had this issue? I guess I’m ordering another battery now! Thanks for the cool video on how to use it. If you buy a holographic sight make sure you have back up sights as well.

Hello, I found your video very helpful but I seem to have trouble changing the reticle. Every single time I hold the minus button it just turns it off. It doesn’t change it
You have the 510C?
Maybe try turning it off with both the +&-. Then turn it on with the +. Then try the reticle again with the - pressed

Mine already had the battery in it? Does that mean it was used?
I don't know. They usually come with the battery separate in the box. You'd have to contact Holosun or just get a new battery for peace of mind. I'd just test the optic to make sure it's good and put a new battery. I buy multiple batteries for my optics to keep as backup. I keep them stored in a bin and 1 with each gun at all times.

I keep turning on me auto brightness… but it doesn’t seem to be adjusting. Same with my shake awake, it worked forever then I recently finger fucked some buttons and now I’ve lost it. No idea how to fix it.
How do i turn on shake awake??
What I gathered from the video is that the “access timer” is what the shake awake is. Meaning you can set it to auto turn off after no use for 10 minutes, an hour, 3 hours and for the other options it has. Not sure if id actually has a shake awake feature. I saw a video saying this optic had one and I was curious on how to activate it
So is the setting out from the box is shake awake?and manual brightness?
All of mine came with shake awake on right out of the box, but I double checked and adjusted the setting to the shortest time anyway.
I think one came in manual, one locked in a specific brightness (if I recall right), and the another in auto. I set all of them on manual but don't lock it.
@@WoodsDog i dont think mines came mannual,and the battery is already in the slot...so i turned it on manually...so if i turn on my auto birghtness means my shake awake is on?
@@betlogenako7193 No. The brightness is independent of the shake awake. My last one came similar. It came on auto and I had to put it on manual (personal preference).
If you follow the steps for shake awake on my video, you'll get to the shake awake settings. Hope this helps.

Have you had any trouble with the reticle blinking? I tried switching out my battery still blinking after ab 10mins of being on
I haven't had that issue. Maybe trying the battery the other way? Or trying a new battery.

If it has a mil size picatinni rail, the quicky detach should work.
What's the difference between the HS 510c vs. HE510c is it the dot color?
Yup. The HS is red. HE is green

Did anyone else have issues with their red dot looking really fuzzy? I might['ve gotten a defective model cus mine doesn't look nearly as clean as his regardless of which setting I put it on.
You don't have astigmatism, right? I have astigmatism which causes me to see the dot fuzzy especially red dots more then green. That's why I went with green.
@@WoodsDog I wasn't even aware of possibly having an astigmatism before posting tbh. All the forums I visited on the subject have pointed to the possibility of having an astigmatism and I was ready to believe it before I took my red dot outside where it showed up much clearer. Not perfect but a lot better than inside. I might be a dumbass for jumping to conclusions before testing it outside lol then again I might have a minor case ? Not sure.
@@shamrockjack3680 if an eye doctor has never diagnosed you, then you're probably fine. Mine is pretty bad with the color red. Enjoy the optic.
@@shamrockjack3680 So this may just be stating the obvious but also make sure when you are aiming you are focusing on your target and not on the reticle. I've seen this in people that are using a red dot for the very first time say it is fuzzy when first looking through it, but then 5 minutes later "oh it's super clear when I look through it focusing at the target 50 ft away instead of the dot 8 inches away".
Question how did you change the focus at the beginning?
It's a Sony mirrorless camera. Idk what camera type you have.
@@WoodsDog Ah nvm I thought you did make the sight more sharper. I checked around on google because i recently bought a Holosun 510C and i thought the sight was blurry. So thats why I thought there was a "focus" setting on the sight but it was on the camera.

I’m having issues with mine keeping its settings. Once I wake it up after maybe one minute it blinks every three seconds.

Dokomo I had the battery in top side up, it needed to be top side down.

Yeah mine's green. HE is green. HS is red.
Is there a difference between the green and red dot units besides the dot color?
Price only. The green is more expensive as they call it "Elite" and green being easier on eyes like mine.

@@1955shooter I think it came in the "off" position and once you get it you can quickly customize it. It was the same for the HE507C I got recently for a habdgun

The cones in human eyes have a much wider green spectrum than red. That means we pick up on green better than other colors. Some people say that target acquisition with the green dot is significantly faster than with red dot. Others say there’s very little or no difference. No one (as far as I’ve seen) says target acquisition is faster with red than it is with green, so I would suggest green dot as a safe choice.
You have to bush the button to turn it on? I thought it was "shake awake"?
It is shakeawake. When you first get it, is turned off. Or you can turn it off/on manually.

No. The light has different settings independent of each other:
1. Auto/Manual.
2. Level of brightness on manual.
3. Shake awake off. Shake awake on (like 3 time settings).
4. Reticle type.
You can make it manual with shake awake off. Manual with shake awake on. Auto with shake awake off. Auto with shake awake on.
I bought a 510c green dot used it once and it broke, I don't understand why everyone raves about this sight, what a piece of crap. $339.00 I will be calling holosun tomorrow
If I zero in it with one reticle can I switch it to another reticle without making any changes to it?
Should be holding zero. You can use the outer circle as a guide for hold overs or use just the dot. It's versatile.

I don't think so but can't really remember.
Remove the battery for 4 or 5 minutes = factory reset.

Holosun great product but terrible support. They only communicate through emails. They don’t take calls.
How do you get green dot
It comes like that. HE is green. HS is red. You get only 1 color and is dependent on the model (he or hs)

@@4bvenom733 they make it a bit confusing. Green is more expensive too and available only on certain models like the 507C and 509T elite. I don't think they offer it on the k-series optics
