Beautiful job, Lee! 😃
The only tip I would give you is to put some epoxy around the USB connector, because I've heard that it some times can break. 😊
Your control surfaces were all in right order ..
You need to do a paramotor rc, the mix is wow crazy, and the wing is super cheap from hobbyking, I do have all working and ready for maiden but I'm not good doing videos. But I will share all the info if interested.
HI Lee again tank you for your work its priceless i have a matek f411wing in a zohd orbit wing inav for gui i flew it yesterday in manual mode the controll was very slow to react i set the default manual and rcexpo from 70 percent to 10 percent nothing change same thing in accro mode there is no expo in the transmitter i did a auto trim and auto tune in rate mode in rate mode every thing is perfect it fly fantastic it was windy the gyro work perfectely i look in the cli (get manual) all the parameters are fine i am going to try an aototune in normal mode thanks
I don't change anything like expo in iNav. See the full series for all the steps I take and the CLI commands I use.. Best of luck
Awesome as always, thanks for this video. Is the f411 fc board supplied with the pins?.
I honestly can't remember - most of the Matek boards I've had in have had to have the pins soldered on..
@@Painless360 thanks for the reply. I just found out that the f411 doesn't come with pins, but the f405 does. Was just talking to someone who has both boards.
Depends which F405 you're talking about - non of my F405-wing boards have come soldered. May be worth a check..
@@Painless360 maybe I didnt ask the question very well. The f405 wing board I got was not soldered- but the red , white and black pins were supplied in the packet. These pins are not supplied in the f411 wing packet. They only give the spacers and screws ( no pins).
Hi lee! Been watching your videos for a while now, just finished building a gt with a f411se fc in it, im gunna use inav 4.0, quick question, will the mixers for the v tail airplane be correct for the gt rebel? as it shares the same servo plug for both ailerons and the other 2 on my model are unused as im not putting anything in the wings :)
That should work fine. There is usually a little tweaking on direction. Best of luck with it!
Hey Painless360 what do you think of the new Drone laws being rolled out in Australia by CASA? They seem like they are going to really limit the growth of RC here.
was wondering is Servo 2 needed for the motor? and also compared to the Bixlar in this build do you need these extra stabilize/Pitch/Yaw functions? great build videos btw!
I don't understand the question. Why would I need a servo for the motor? See the full series for all you need to know. Best of luck!
@@Painless360 sorry I meant when you are setting up the mixer to assign servo outputs in this video what assigned outputs are needed for ZOHD Rebel GT? I have a FPVBrain Wing PB for myZOHD Rebel.
It'll be the same - ailerons and V tail..
Nice video! I ordered my stuff to make an iNav wing. My question is, I have a turnigy 9X radio, will the RSSI also be displayed on die OSD? Or is that just nog possible with that radio?
@@pcmultimedia1 Thx for the answer. but I have a turnigy 9X and a Turnigy evolution. So is it possible to see the RSSI of those radios on the OSD with an IA6C receiver?
@@emiledubois9949 I would think yes it will show rssi. Did you find an answer? In betaflight I get rssi osd with my 9x
@@josephfreeman5289 my brother did find something on UA-cam to reprogram the receiver. But we haven't tried it because we now have a tarranis QX7 for our 'long' range stuff and that's very easy to set RSSI.
But thanks for helping!
Coming from FPV quad thinking of trying out fixed wing. Is this a good one to start with or is there any other model would you recommend?
ua-cam.com/video/OaKqAng-BVE/v-deo.html should get you started.. Loads of great options. I like the ARWing a lot.. Best of luck
Great video Lee, unfortunately my f411 wing stopped working after my 7th flight. It's getting replaced by the dealer had to go through matek first which was a simple process. They help you diagnose it through email with pictures and a volt meter.
I've always found that matek is easy to deal with when you have a defective item. But I have no clue why it stopped working when it was working just fine for the first seven flights. I would say it's reviewers curse but I'm not a reviewer so it's just plain bad luck ;) lol
That was an amazing providence! iv just bourght this FC but i carnt seem to get my Digital servos working. Any ideas? even tried them in different FC and still no responce! devastated! full built wing(gps FC FPV) And im grounded!
thanks for your Input to help us beginners! even though iv been a sub foe a few years now! Thanks!
Check they work in a servo checker - you can change the frequency they are updated in the Configuration tab..
Hello! Beginner question here, what gauge wire did you use for the battery leads on the board?
I usually match the size of the cables connected to the battery that I am planning to use... Happy flying
I want to put this FC into my Ranger G2. I thing I can't find is if you can sent all the telemetry this FC collects back to a FrSky transmitter like you would with the FrSky sensors. If so, does that go over the SBUS connector as well or do you need to wire that up separately somehow?
You can use Smartport. See the other builds in this series.. Happy flying!
@@Painless360 Thanks! Your video's are great! I'll check out some more.
can you tune it in the field? if it has osd tune like betaflight then i want one
You can. See the other videos in the iNav series..
@@Painless360 i will thanks =)
At about 1 minute 17 seconds in, you state "I will link you to my inav 2.1 series" which I have been searching for as I am trying to set up my first ever inav craft using the Matek F411 Wing.... Unless I am blind or just plain lost... I do not see a link to your inav 2.1 series ... Did you forget to include it?
There is a 'card' to click setup in the video for that time-code, if you're watching the video on something that won't show the cards then you'll not see it. It sounds like you are new to the channel - check out the playlists as the iNav 2.1 series is easy to spot if you scroll through. Best of luck
One quest the filter reduces the noise or remove all the noise? Because o have the matek f722 ant that is my main issue with this board.
Gets rid of all the issues on mine, Matek should have added it into the board IMHO.. That's the only thing missing from it for smaller fixed wing builds..
Nice review! Have one myself. Do you mind to share the stl files for the covers?
Done! :D On my Thingiverse page - www.thingiverse.com/thing:3617864
SUPER video!
Thanks a lot!
Can i use this setup in CLI for Mini Talon??
Check out the iNav 2.1 series I've set up lots of airframes with this process and it works great.. Happy flying!
@@Painless360 Thanks!
Could the negative wire on the xtx and servo be paired up to leave three pins for positive, video and smart audio. Or would this possibly cause interference in either the servo or vtx.
Possibly, such a shame they didn't add an extra wire into those bays..
great video as always, just one query - at 6:21 all the controls look okay to me there, but you say ailerons and rudder are right but elevator is reversed.
I'm thinking of using one of these F411's as my first FC but I'm rubbish at soldering - it would be great if you could do an "Idiot's guide to soldering" video. I think the Internet needs one where the presenter doesn't pronounce it "soddering" too. ;)
ua-cam.com/video/-YPLW5cCiGY/v-deo.html ? :)
@@Painless360 perfect - thank you :)
Hi mate, do you run the lc filter on the output to the camera or vtx?
See comments at 10:10 in the video. I'd add it to the VTX..
Wouldn't you put it on the camera output not the vtx because it's your video that would be susceptible to noise not the vtx?
My F411 browns out when connecting a fifth servo for the cam pan... think the BEC is just enough for 4 servo's
See my Ardupilot build for a trick to get the 5v from the BEC in the ESC.. Best of luck
Masha Allah a fantastic vid bro, insha Allah will follow this as exactly as possible ... @7:00 it looks as though your rudder was also opposite, or am I seeing wrong?
That's the way it needs to be.. happy flying!
I have one question. I have installed everything the only problem I have I cant give power to main motor via radio controller, servos are ok. I can give power via Inav.
Is there a possibility connecting motor to second motor pads it wont spin via radio controller?
Have you armed it? See my video on that exact issue.. Best of luck
Any other video part of this setup? Where did you install vtx ?
In the wing - shown in the video..
Hello Mate, could you share your INAV PID PIFF settings so its easyer to start with, i am struggling a bit with the settings THX greetings from austria
I don't have them handy. Check out the INAV 2020 series for the latest build.. Best of luck!
@@Painless360 thx
Thank, great video.
Could you make a video of the matekf722?
Thanks for the idea, it's a MR board and I'm not planning a new multi-rotor build series for a month or so.. See my quadcopter building for beginners series on the channel that cover how I do it.. Best of luck!
I have a F411-Wing and trying to connect to an OrangeRX R720X V3 with Sbus. I cannot get it to communicate. Is there somewhere I can find info about this? Thanks Darrin Also using Spectrum receiver.
From what I can see there are two versions of that receiver - one that puts out PPM from the BIND port, and one that outputs SBUS. I'd check you have the right one..
@@Painless360 Thanks so much for your reply. I finally got it figured out. I was plugging in the incorrect port on the receiver. Goes in the Bind plug. Had to use the OrangeRX programming box to set V3 receiver to Sbus and now all is well! Thanks again for your videos and information.
@@Painless360 Well I used what I found on your video as a setup. For some reason when I try to Autolaunch, the wing says Autolaunch in the FPV, I have tried three times and each time it goes pretty hard right and slams into the ground or into a bench nearby. I have not used a board like this in the past so it is a bit foreign to me. I fly quads with no problems but I cannot get the wing to work correctly (and I am running out of glue LOLOL). Anything come to mind?
Hi Darrin, thanks for the email but free help is only available here in the comments. There are several mistakes that you've made in the setup (no offset pitch angle for example) so I'd strongly recommend watching my Autolaunch video again. Best of luck
have ever thing in my GT but i been getting some flicker in my osd any reason why she flys good
The 411 has poor voltage regulation for the VTX so I'd look to add a low pass filter or similar.. Best of luck
Can this f411 be ran with ppm instead of sbus to access the menu and options ?
Not sure, I've not tried it!
Painless360 it can I just didn’t see it. Disable serial for ppm instead of sbus input can use a ppm receiver
Nice review of this latest ZOHD offering. Kind of hilarious the motor scandal hounding this plane though, but ZOHD is well known for making heinous engineering mistakes (eg NanoTalon, the stabilizer in the Dart, the weight and balance in the Dart etc) despite the ingenious break-away designs. I am tempted to buy this plane, however they gotta change motor manufacturers, and I think the tail needs about 4 inches added to its length to make it more stable and easier to launch, which I might do. (I have the Nanotalon and a couple Darts)
Why not use the BN220 gps, save a little money and weight
Erm, I did.. 2:47 It was only about £15 anyway..
My f411 has some issues. I'm using it in a nano talon with a holybro m8n micro gps, orangerx 920x receiver (ppm), spektrum radio.
My issue is that upon battery startup I get zero response from the flight controller except the motor beeps slowly. If I plug in the USB I get leds on the board, the GPS lights up green on the module but turns red in the configurator followed by a fast blinking blue led on the board. I have no 5v anywhere on the board that is a 5v solder pad. All Vx has 5v (servos) when powered off the battery but the entire 5v rail is dead. Any suggestions? Anyone had any experiences like this?
I should add that the ESC has power and the VTX has power too.
Sound slike the 5v regulator has failed..
@@Painless360 thanks!
@@Painless360 I tried wiring in a 5v bec, everything on the 5v rail has power now. Now to figure out why the GPS isn't communicating! Thanks for the input!
Unfortunatelly I can´t access my F411 anymore neither with USB nor with a ftdi-adapter on one of both UARTs. Me and also friends had that phenomenon with F3 and F4 flightcontrollers before and it doesn´t matter if you have a capacitor or not (assuming any voltage peaks fry parts of the flightcontroller) or if you running them in airplanes or a copter. Flight controllers still work but you just can´t get a connection to tweak anything. Does anyone have an idea what part on the flightcontrollers could be defective and a way to prevent that?
