I recorded this with my Fisher VCR back in 1984 off WNYW 5 in New York and watched it over and over. This whole sketch is still brilliant on youtube in 2022.
Hilarious bit with Tim on the door knob. And guest star Steve Lawrence makes a fine Lt. Columbo in this sketch. Columbo was such a great crime drama, one of the best series of its time. If you've never experienced it, do seek it out, it's usually streaming somewhere or it's probably on disc.
@@sundayoliver3147 Definitely oldie but goodie; and clearly it was made by talented people. I tried Peacock but I just can't take the sudden and jarring commercials; maybe I ought to buy their ad-free version. Streaming services that don't warn the viewer about an upcoming ad need to try doing a quick fade to black before ripping us out of the story. Just a pet peeve. Anyway, my favorite episodes of Columbo featured guest stars Donald Pleasance, Roddy McDowall, Ruth Gordon, and Martin Landau.
Yes, i noticed that. That is /was brilliant writing. Tim circling back a second time to adjust Harvey’s knee was an improv, i think? This sketch has a Mel Brooks type of humor right?!
@@Mister_Listener I believe all these were improvs, the plate move, the knee move, and the plate re-move. LOL! It is still brilliant writing, because the writers would leave open spaces in the script for the actors/actresses to do their own things.
@@SemieRay ha…i guess we will never know, but i think the business with the plate had to have been a scripted joke, because the punchline was that Steve came later to re-arrange it. But it seemed like Harvey and Carol didnt expect the knee adjustment…it seemed like an improv. But who knows. I will have to watch it again. And again. And again. Hehe.
A lot of people have the false memory of Tim Conway always being a regular on the show, but he didn't become a regular until Season 9 in 1975. He just appeared frequently before that.
Its because he had such a huge presence and was that good ! Plus the chemistry between him and Harvey just stole the show. He made Harvey and Carol loose it so many times. Great comedic actor. Maybe the best.
Actually, once Mr. Conway finally became a regular, Steve Lawrence replaced him as the most frequent guest - and was also wrongly thought of as a regular.
Always wondered how many bruises, scratches & scrapes Carol & crew came away with after each episode - they threw themselves into every sketch, with the abandon :)
2 sisters ~ one pleasant, one not. I don't remember the name of the skit, but this was the same idea when Patsy drowned & the lighthouse keeper married the evil sister who posed as Patsy.
@@masters1313 yes, Bette Davis is my favorite actress. She actually did 3 movies as twins, one good one bad. I grew up watching black and white movies with my grandma and fell in love with Bette's acting. There are so many exceptional movies of hers. Two of my favorites are All About Eve and Now,Voyager. If anyone wants a good movie ,give those a chance. My first Bette Davis movie was Whatever Happened to Baby Jane. And Hush ,Hush, Sweet Charlotte. Both acted when she was older. The other two were when she was still pretty young.
Tim Conway is absolutely hilarious!!! There will never be another funny man like him!
Love you, Tim! :)
Only comedy show I've ever seen that dared do skits that were 12 plus minutes long. Comedy gold.
Whenever Tim and Harvey are in a skit together, you know it's gonna be great! And this one didn't disappoint. Carol had a gold mine with these two!!

That Tim Conway. Always making his co-stars crack uyp with his antics
I never knew Steve Lawrence could be so hysterical.
He was awesome every time he was a guest.
He did have a sense of humor. I remember him as Walter Leff in Carol's "Double Calamity" takeoff . . .
Carol looks beautiful with the long hair.

It's on Peacock, or at least I watched it there. Never saw it before, and I agree, great show. A period piece, but still great.

This is hilarious
I love the painting of the sisters. So funny.
“No they’re noOoOt!!” Lol
The butler (Conway) repositions the plate at 4:58, but did anyone notice Cobumble (Lawrence) re-repositions that plate at 7:44?

I'd think identical twins would be the same shoe size. I love that color dress and shoes she has on.
This was a very cute clip. Thank you for posting. DA
