Excellent song. Kiske does a great job, but after hearing Robin McAuley sing it, I prefer him. Sail the Darkness is another great song off this album.

I'm usually good at keeping track of new releases from bands of interest but because MSG had a new release just last year I wasn't anticipating this to materialize right now, so a nice surprise. Just so you know though it is Romero who is the primary vocalist with Kiske and Scheepers also contributing; I'm not sure if the latter two are on more than one track or not. Gary Barden is also on the title track in duet fashion according to the press release. I'm mixed on Romero--I would prefer Barden or Macauley--but Micheal is writing in a more old-school metal direction continuing the same lines from Doogie White as his vocalist. While I am a big fan of Michaels' music throughout his prolific career and I won't try to change your mind, you should at least go back and get familiarized with the five studio UFO albums that he was on in the seventies since they are a different flavor. I was a young rocker of the eighties also but as I got older went back and discovered UFO later on, and am much better off for it as I enjoy the Schenker, Chapman, and Moore eras.

Hi, I was also surprised when I saw the announcement on the new recording about a month ago. Didn’t like the first track, Emergency - really odd melody. I have seen Michael 4 times, mostly in the last 7 years at small venues and he is amazing. First time I saw him was with McCauley Schenker group when they opened for Rush in the late 80s - and they were booed. Yikes. Not a good fit for the hardcore rush fans I guess? I was awestruck at that show and frankly was more excited about seeing them than Rush. The last few tours with Michael Schenker Fest were amazing - long shows with songs from his entire era - sung by McCauley/Barden/Bonnet. Wow! I saw him for the first time since that 80s show about 8 years ago at a small club near my home (where I am seeing Stryper this coming Thursday and the LA Guns/Keifer/Faster Pussycat show this June) and I got to meet him and band for a bit - Doogie is a cool customer. Saw their sound check, Doogie did some vocal warm up with I think a Rainbow song bit - cool stuff. Tony Carey (ex Rainbow and so many other great things like his solo stuff and Planet P) guest keyboards on a few songs as well on this - perhaps this one? Anyways, I’ve pre-ordered this and psyched to be getting it later this month. Keep on rockin!

@@adkleiner From what I know Toney Carey plays on the intro track to this song, and a Rainbow specific rhythm section guested on A King Has Gone. In another youtube video of this song Graham Bonnet is also credited as contributing vocals but it is hard to distinguish him during the chorus. I agree Emergency was just okay upon first listen but sometimes in the flow of an entire album those songs can grow on you; I did like the extended solo on that one. I'm glad that these guys (and others like Stryper) are still putting new music out there that is good enough to keep adding to my MP3 player and physical music collection. I know the time is coming down the road where new music from these bands/individuals from the 70's and 80's will dry up so I am enjoying it while it lasts.

As good as music gets. Melody and sonwriting excels. Amazing riff, vocals and lyrics. Mixing and instuments great. Kiske and Schenker. This is already a legend this song. And being about Dio. Wow!

🙀 As a guitar player, for me, M Schenker would be in my top 10 guitarist but then again I've followed UFO since day one. I've been aware of every solo album he's released, and there have been a lot of great ones. Since song writing is of utmost importance, I have to agree with you in that perhaps the ending could have been slightly modified. Sometimes repetition can be over played, but otherwise, everything seems to work quite well on this track.

I’m very selective on liking MSG songs, normally 2-3 per album make it on my list, and the new album will most likely not be different. This one will surely make it. RR ist still main vocalist, so we’ll see 😊!

I've learned to read you pretty well and I knew right off the bat that you weren't blown away. Thanx for doing it anyway. I tend to agree about the songwriting thru the years. I think Michael benefits from having a strong writing partner and in my book Robin McAuley was his strongest writing ally under the MSG banner. Michael is in my top 5 guitarists of all time but he is a bit restrained in this song. I guess the nature of the song calls for a bit of restraint. Kiske sounds great. Hoping the rest of the album is a bit more energetic.
