I am happy I decided to listen to this band, today 20th october 2024; Now I need more Tiamat (maybe it's never too late). Here from Mexico. I am 50 years old.
rockben 18 It's never too late when it comes to music. Wildhoney and Clouds are my favorite albums from Tiamat. Masterpieces. 43 from Greece, cheers brothers.
there's something mystic, divine in this album. A real masterpiece, able to give me feelings everytime I listen to it. There was a time I found hard to fall asleep. I used to stay awake on my bed till late rolling and swearing to my insomnia....Long time ago, one night a friend of mine passed me this album....I went home, I put the Cd on my stereo....I lowered the volume.....I turned off the light and pushed the play button on the player.....wildhoney and a wonderful travel began....a stream of images, dreams, failures, struggling emotions...a journey inside me...I admit I had smoked.....but it was a marvellous journey of 42 minutes which went by in a while. And then, I fell asleep in a while. The following days for almost a month, this was my therapy. Every night when i went off to bed, I used to put on the player this Cd. Generally I used to not listen to further planets....cause I fell asleep.....after less than 40 minutes laying on the bed....thanks for such artwork Johan Edlund, thanks for such poetry, both in music and even lyrics.....
never listened to them before, but i look for simular styles of music for after my amphetamine binges when im hallucinating(minorly) and just cant get my mind to stop speeding n slow down, after the first song i found myself passivily sitting in my chair with my eyes closed.
I know every note of this album, I continue to listen to it since 90's. I think it is the album I listen to the most from all the whole music. I am 51 years old and keep listen. A masterpiece! I saw live Tiamat 3 times in Romania till now, I just can't enough. This one and Clouds are icons. I have it on CD, tape, FLAC and vinyl. Thank you, Jonas!
That was a stupid thing to do, because most music is not at all like the music on that album. It's rather like eating ice cream and finding that you like it, and then delcaring you now like drinking petrol.
The best Tiamat album, perfect mixture of doom metal and meditation music. For me personally one of the best doom albums ever (together with Gathering's Mandylion and Draconian Times by Paradise Lost)
a deeper kind of slumber is his best album, tho johann edlund have many good albums especially this one but after deeper kind of slumber, wild honey is the best and after that the ep of brighter than the sun. his cover of sympathy for the devil is much better than the original rollingstones or guns'n roses version
For last few years I had musical flashback - melody in my head. I tried to found it on my old CD's from metal magazines (and I have dozens of them). Later on, for hours I listened to metal bands I liked, that composed in 90's. It was growing in me, bothering me, it was so clear in my head! So for time to time I was trying to find it, because it was distracting me when I listened to more recent music. I even tried to found it by playing part or singing in music browsers! :D And suddenly my friend posted this video on FB, with no reason. I thought I didn't listened to Tiamat for too long so I played it. And then... BOOM it was that song! It happened to be 'The Ar' main music motive (with chorus) :D It was one of my fav songs in late 90's when I was often going to rock/metal club for 'hard zone' party :)
0Dalamar0 great story, this album gives me lot of good memories indeed. in many ways. it's amazing how music can keep and remain inside our minds and hearts for long time and live there in our being and be part of our essence.
I cannot believe Ive not heard this before... it kicks every kind of arse! As a fan of Paradise Lost from their early albums tihis is a beautiful revelation.
20 years later and Wildhoney still holds most of its magic intact. Simple (or so it seems) yet heartfelt songwriting and superior production really did wonders on that album.
Only 8 mil population Sweden in 90s gave the world so many masterpieces in every music genre’s. I mean listen to the quality of production and mastering these guys are meticulous
Can't believe this album is 18 years old already!! I remember getting it in early 1995, and while it impressed me, i must admit that i didn't really 'get it' for a while. It was just so unlike anything i'd ever heard in metal. But once it licked it was magic!
I just gave this album a shot; it has been there for ages but it was until the last couple of weeks that I decided to listen to it. I had not bothered to listen to anything past "Clouds" until this point. I liked this album so much that I bought the reissue vinyl right away; I've listening to it daily and every time it grows on me a bit more.
As a 90´s diehard Tiamat supporter I firstly listened to Clous and Astral sleep. Digging in underground contacts I bought The Sumerian Cry back in´96. Wildhoney already had been released and I did not pay attention to it until a friend lent me it and I fuckin´enjoyed it both musicwise as lyricswise. Bought it and keep it until by now(March/15). Wild honye to wils spirits ones..Ave!
Still pure excellence. Still remember when this album was released. One of the best album to go back to. With lyrics of Gaia they were way ahead of basically anyone in the music industry. We have come a long way but degenerated from those times in every aspect. That decade was easily zenith of the human species. Now we can only look at the sunset and downfall of our species.
Just listened to the album again after many years. Still amazing. Yes kids, shrooms are good for you, at least if you want to write genre-defying groundbreaking music.
Damn, classic Tiamat.. I loved Tiamat back in the day.. well 6 years ago, but that was back in the day to me.. I was still in high school 6 years ago. maybe even in middle school.. good stuff though.
I love how that happens. When I got my first Judas Priest album I hated it. I had it for almost five years before I again listened to it. Damn. I love that feeling of 'WTF was I thinking!' haha
This album is monumental
I am happy I decided to listen to this band, today 20th october 2024; Now I need more Tiamat (maybe it's never too late). Here from Mexico. I am 50 years old.
Clouds...

One of the best doom/death metal releases EVER.
A real masterpiece, indeed!!!
Hail to Sweden .\,,/

that is why I listen to this album as well. After about the fourth sing I'm nearly also, if not fully asleep.

well said bro!
No one could explain this album any better. It was therapy...and it still is.
Good old times, will never come back.
Yep, the 90's was the last hurrah of this style of music, and Western civilization as a whole to be honest.
🙀 epic album...need. deLorean 😞

the best album in the artistic career of tiamat!
Nope. They have done, if not better, equally good albums. Check out their album Amanathes.
both of you are wrong. checkout 1997 album, a deeper kind of slumber. best album ever
IN MY OPINION IT HAPPENS to be the best AMONG THEIR PEERS too

It’s October. Type O and this album is perfect. This album is such a heavy October masterpiece. One of my top ten albums of all time. Perfection
mystical, esoteric, mysterious, reflective......
wonderful for the senses.
The best I have been ever heard. My youth. My love. My life. Never stop this feeling
One of the greatest Metal Releases all time.... love it
I simply decided to love music after listening to this album.
That was a stupid thing to do, because most music is not at all like the music on that album. It's rather like eating ice cream and finding that you like it, and then delcaring you now like drinking petrol.

Cause they are North nation, without pers bacha bazi, arab incest, chinese insect eating and indian pedophilic culture
Listened to this album on repeat the last three days since I've fallen deeper into my depression. I'm buying this album, amazing dark music!
Best from Tiamat mystic and universal

Maravilhoso álbum !!!
Pieza de arte. DoomMetal innovador y vanguardista.
It opens up my inner peace. I love it. Forever and ever.
I'm on the good part of UA-cam again. Good to be back.
22 fucking years! Peace and Rock n Roll to all of You! \m/

Best ever progresive metal BAND .Best Tiamat album.
one of the most complete albums ever

"A Deeper Kind of Slumber" is awesome as well (yet soften up to the borders of unlikeness of the genre).
I'm always searching for an album better than this, and I never find.
Maybe band "Paradise Lost"?
