It upsets me when folks say you should have saved for retirement. I had a job but never thought I’d end up divorced or widowed with no benefits and on disability at 58. Omg people don’t know everyone’s story.

So true. My heart goes out to the folks on disability, can’t work at all and the women who stayed at home with kids or perhaps worked part time jobs and ended up divorced. Now they’re stuck with the limited Social Security for their senior years. Just terrible.

My rent has literally doubled in less than 10 years. My appliances in my apartment barely work (they're 30 years old, give or take), there are dead plants, bushes and muddy spots from dead grass. It's absolutely grim. So many property owners/investors that don't reinvest their profits back into the properties or tenants. It is evil.

She’s 68 and her son is 50, so she was 18 when he was born. I also had a young mother. When I was 10 she had my younger brother. She was a better mother to him than she had been to me. I now realize that it had nothing to do with me, it was her being so young. Unless your parent really abused you, it’s time to grow up and forgive our parents.

That’s HUD. You have to go through recertification every year. 6 months bank statements, all medical and prescription costs/bills for the year. As soon as there’s a social security cost of living the rent gets jacked up. I’m in. HUD low income senior building. We fight roaches, bedbugs (which I do a lot of myself) and rats. Elevators out of order, the building is never cleaned. Yes HUD inspects once a year, but there’s a lot they don’t see. Last year they raised my rent another $125. I’m dreading this year.
The problem with going through reaching out because of problems is HUD can end up ending the contract. Then you’ve got a lot of disabled and seniors with nowhere to go. These landlords know we can’t afford market rate rent.

I love your videos- i just found your channel and ive seen people do similar videos like this but some of them rub me the wrong way because even though they try to hide it - they seem to be kinda judgmental to me and imho are exploiting the poor for views. But you seem genuine and kind and sincere to me and not at all judgemental and im glad you are bringing attention to the social issues. This shouldnt be how things are in america.

Super, would you please send your photos to the house in authority for this lady? Somebody else needs to help her with her hoarding problem, but it's not safe for her to be in that apartment with all that feces, and with all the roaches they carry diseases and somebody needs to get on that apartment complex to do those repairs, so would you please send those pictures in for all of us who watch you? I am a disabled senior, and I sure would not want to live like that and she sounds like the sweetest lady I mean she doesn't deserve this. Thank you.

That place needs to be reported to Public Health! All the furniture affected should be replaced by the owners of the Condo Corp as the sewage is coming from the common element! Someone needs to help her as this can affect her health with regards to bacteria, mold etc.

Well, she was well spoken 19:56 20:01 and gracious to bring you in to her home. It’s astonishing what people will put up with. I was in a subsidized housing building that was quite beautiful but not well kept kept for 4 1/2 years and my neighbors were astonished at how bold I was when Atrocities like that happened. I just wouldn’t put up with it and then got lucky and now live in a middle-class home
. Age segregation is terrible and I’m glad for her that she knows that.

Thank you, Debra! Love at the end how you said it really is a nice neighborhood especially when you get a little ways away from here. Sorry to hear you’re dealing with the tide from the plumbing. That’s crazy. As a fisherman, I would check the tide charts to know when to go fishing, and never in my life would I have thought somebody would’ve said there was a tide line in their home from waste water.
Other than those that have been through natural disasters when they get flooding. Glad to hear you’ve got a loving, caring son. What a nice guy to get you one of those mattresses which come vacuum sealed. Can tell your two pups are your best friends. Liked how you said we sit down and have a Sprite. Including your two dogs in that. Hopefully they’re still just drinking water. ❤

My husband and i are elderly, retired and disabled. We both worked hard all of lives, sometimes two jobs at a time. We saved our money. Now we're being taxed to death on our social security and 401ks. We live in a very old mobile home, yet we pay high property taxes. Its nuts!! The golden years can kiss my ass!!!

I am so proud, and amazed with her growth, and what she has achieved.....to see her go out and walk around the complex...tells you that she is more comfortable living there, than she was living in her home....years ago. Most people like her can not even go outside at all. She must of been determined to push herself. They really need to run/dig that piping out and change the system for that complex because it is clearly not able to handle that capacity for sewage. I don't comment on your channel because you do such an excellent job.....but I do watch. TY

She is a smart lady. This guy really got her to open up about her situation and she is so articulate that by the end of the interview, I felt I really got to know her and her (positive) attitude in a created situation that should never exist! This Country can do better. When LBJ envisioned the Great Society and the idea of subsidized housing came to exist THIS is so below the standards he imagined people could live with.I managed subsidized housing for many years in the NYC area. I have seen some nasty stuff but never to this level. I understand that the hoarding doesn't help this situation but I have seen hoarders before. Some of that problem it was necessary to call government agencies and and insist on rectifying those situations. I had lists of organizations that I called to provide remediation. Not an easy thing for the resident. This building is just not built correctly to be maintained.. The sewerage problem was there when the buildings were put up. That is due to lack of proper development regulations or non compliance with code being over-looked.... add the word "graft" right there!. A building that is not habitable should not be rented up to begin with.
I was crying by the end of this video.

I don't know if abuse or stress, and anxiety go together because I have not researched it. But, I remember not being able to drive my car in the dark. I don't know what was wrong with me. It was the strongest fear that was just crushing me. I remember visiting my family, and my brother wanted some gloves....some driving gloves. His girlfriend, the kids and I drove to visit my sister. Later, we stopped at the mall to look for some leather gloves. I had forgot about the time. When we came out of that mall....it was dark. I didn't want anyone to know I was freaking out, especially since I drove.....and the kids was with us. All I kept thinking was I have to get these kids home. I was at a mall I wasn't familiar with, in the dark....in a parking lot I didn't know. Tons of cars. Mind you I was three hours away from home. I was praying! When I made it through the parking lot, and to the highway....I was still panicking inside. We made it back to her house, and I stayed the night. Left in the morning, so I could drive comfortably. I was so thrilled, and impressed that I made it through that. I went to work, and told HR to put me on the schedule for any shift. 😂😂 April was so good to me. She knew I could drive in the dark. Sometimes we are put in situations that we have to face our fears, and push ourselves. God bless you for showing the other side of living for a number of people. Hope all is well with your new move/home and family. Your daughter is so beautiful. Your wife does a beautiful job with her hair. God Bless You, and Keep You!

I don't even know what to call it so many people just don't care and so many people are corrupt and greedy and then there's people who just have a rough life and end up living this way I know I'm headed probably for something like that or worse due to inflation and I've never been able to keep a job for very long because of various reasons a lot of them out of my control so many people's lives do not go perfect where it all lines up and you end up having money when you get older

Hi bruh you havent seen south africa YET. Here our seniors and younger people deal with loadshedding (zero ELECTRICITY) for some places for 4 hours to 8 or even more. Then our roads are fucked whe used do drive on tbe left side of the road now we drive n whats left of the roads. Then we have the sewage situation . Our state hospitals are screwed oi.
