Here's a link to a GoFundMe campaign to help the Whittaker family purchase a new home: gofund.me/c3d062e7.
For those preferring other ways to donate, you can also use PayPal @marklaita824 or cashapp $swumarklaita.

They need home healthcare in a bad way and someone to come on a daily basis to clean, do their laundry, take their trash out, help them bathe, etc. or else a new home isn't going to benefit them much. I mean it would for a while but it would be just a matter of time before it's in the same condition as the current home. Unfortunately, none of them have the mental capacity to take care of a home or themselves. I am in no way shape or form trying to be rude, it's just the reality. Yes Betty is the main caregiver but she's on the same spectrum as the others with the exception of being able to communicate a little better. They all receive SSI and Medicaid so that should cover those expenses. I don't have a clue why this hasn't already been put into place, maybe it has and they don't want any part of it, or maybe people just can't tolerate it. Who knows but I do wish them the best of luck.

@@jehouse61 I'd say they have taken Ray to a doctor but with his mental state, I doubt he will let anyone touch him much less attempt to give him any kind of shot and/or surgeries. That's just my guess.

I was sitting in a bout of depression that I'm working on after finally ending my dance with alcoholism, and have binge'd out on the videos of this family and the comments....and I want to express so much immense love to Mark for making these videos and shining such a beautiful light on the beauty of aspects of life often shoved into the darkness....and so much love to the people in the comments showing such immense compassion, empathy and humanity...you give me hope for the state of our species.....and to this family, thank you for showing that you can be happy just by being. Sometimes - probably all the time - that is just enough. We just tend to forget. This series has given me a deep remembering, and my soul thanks you all. If you're reading still, I don't know you but I love you anyway for being a human in this human experience with me, trying to figure it out and doing our best. You're doing great. Thank you for not judging this family and treating them with respect like they deserve. I am an accountant married to an aerospace engineer whom I share a 3 year old child with and we live really comfortably but it wasn't always that way for me. I was raised by a single mother who was struggling to make ends meet. Our house was falling apart, filthy, our couches all ripped up, and our showers were moldy. I was always too embarrassed to invite my friends over growing up from past experiences of having people over. They were always visibly uncomfortable they would try to hide but i can always tell therefore I never liked having anyone over. A lot of my aunts, uncle, etc judged our family and would say we were the poorest of the whole family. They eventually stopped inviting my mom over for family reunions because of course what could we offer at the time when we lived in poverty. It was such a hard time for me but now im grateful for it because now I know who my real friends are and it motivated me to give my mom a better life. My son has never known what poverty is like and will never know what it's like. It is sad how many people will humiliate you when you have nothing.

@@colby8104don't be bitter. I'm not one to accept charity and I'm also not quick to give just for the sake of giving but I did give a little to them and I think it's great that others have. But I don't think it's all the money and free stuff that has made them nicer or more accepting to Mark. They're just simple country people like I am and the kindness comes from building a relationship with others and seeing that you can trust them. They'd be the same regardless if Mark helped them or not. But anyway it's nothing wrong with helping others especially those who have lived the majority of their lives with hardly anything. Remember it wasn't the Whittakers that asked for anything it was Marks idea to help them and his audience who chose to donate. So if you feel inclined to help then please do they definitely need it and deserve it but if not then don't be mean towards those who want to or have.

In our affluent, bored society, it takes a family like the Whittakers to remind us of what it takes to be happy. They never let adversity interfere with loving and supporting each other. They show us that, even in the worst of circumstances, we can still CHOOSE how we respond to life's challenges. Happiness is not a passive emotional state; it's a conscious decision & moral obligation to others. In many ways, the Whittakers are living a richer life than the Kardashians. I love that the Whittakers enjoy their celebrity at the state fair and whenever they go into town, and that good folks from all over come by to visit.
I think that Marks’ revealing documentation and authentic friendship over the years with this lovely family has certainly shone some more sunshine and warmth into their lives, and ours..
    God bless ♥️😊✌🏽

A new house next door?!? That would be wonderful! I wish for a helper for Betty. To help her scrub the floors and do smaller upkeep things in the home. That would be very helpful to this special family!
I wonder if Ray could be given some Motrin and Tylenol a couple of times a day. That knee pain has to be miserable.

Awww, I'm only 2 min in and seeing Lorraine get up to hug the both of you brought tears to my eyes. She used to be so shy, and now she has so much trust & love for you. ❤ God Bless you Mark. We need more people like you in this world❣️🙏

This family has such a strong sense of community and family. Something so essential to our well being yet becoming so hard to find in this day and age. I've been so blessed watching these videos of this family. Praying for health and blessings for each one of them. ❤

I wish we could see family pictures of all these guys including their parents back from the 60s and 70s.

You can tell by following this through the years that Mark has made a huge impact on these folks lives. Especially Ray. I bet Ray does not come around to anyone but Mark. You are a great guy Mark. I know it's nothing to do with money. These people have a much better quality of life because of Mark.
