Best live band ever, you can never predict the setlist, it's always a mixture from their repertoire from their 40 years career and often there are some surprises on the list as well, songs that haven't been played for 20 years or even never... and the concerts often last for 2,5 - 3 hours... they're doing such a good job servicing their fan base, no matter if you're new to their stuff or a longtime fan like myself (seen them 5 times since 1989 as well)
The Cure is a band I used to make fun of back in the day. I have no idea way, I was just a dumb kid who didn't understand. Now I'm much older and love them. Actually walked down the recessional to this song at my wedding.
I love obscure. My all time favorite of the Cure. It's Dream-like. I listened and fell in love with the Cure. Was about 21 at the time. 38 years later. Saw the Cure in concert. No words for this song. Mesmerizing, as if you slipped into another Dimension. ❤
The Cure is one of my favorite bands of all time. Would love to see more of them on your channel. Like your wife, I also like the more obscure stuff by them. “A Strange Day”, “Cold”, “All Cats Are Grey”, to name a few. Keep up the good work sir.
I’m in that crowd somewhere I got as close to the front as I could it was a glorious summers day the band sounded fantastic and everyone was singing along to the big hit songs an amazing atmosphere
The Cure has so many different sounds. Please do a few Cure songs... 10:15 on a Saturday night, lovecats, faith, let's go to bed, lament, there are literally over 200 songs written by Robert Smith that are PURE GOLD. Boys Don't Cry, Lovecats, Friday I'm In Love and Lullaby are the most mainstream songs... I've seen the at The Edinburgh Playhouse and Wembley Stadium in London
When I was right around Annie's age I started playing acoustic guitar and this was one of my favorites to play by the time I was 16. I would do a change during though. during the final verse I'd stop playing the guitar after "stole the only girl I loved" and end it with just softened vocals, singing the line "and drowned her deep inside of me." wouldn't ever say the "just like heaven" part. Something about ending the song this way always made it feel just that much more dark and melancholy, which teen goth me loved. Fascination Street, Burn (from The Crow soundtrack), and Prayers for Rain are also up there. The Cure was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame by Trent Reznor last year. *LOVE* The Cure and a lot of the genres that came out of that period.
My first Cure video I ever saw and to this day my all-time favorite song, let alone all-time favorite Cure song. I believe the only Cure video to have his wife Mary in it. So immensely iconic, especially when Robert comes in with his acoustic guitar in the opening after Simon’s bass. Lyrics are like none other as I fall in love with this line every time I hear it “You, strange as angels dancing in the deepest oceans, twisting in the water you’re just like a dream”. My only regret is not being able to see them in their prime of the ‘89 Prayer Tour or ‘92 Wish Tour as I was still relatively young and never went to concerts. While Robert is older now, you gotta show her the live version of Just Like Heaven on the MTV awards in 1989. Back when he was very handsome and the band were in their peak during the Disintegration Era. 👍🏼
Awesome! Might want to consider a band called "The Mission". The band was formed by Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams, both from "The Sisters of Mercy". I'd recommend "Beyond The Pale", "Daddy's Going To Heaven Now", and many more from their albums.
The biggest song of the Cure has to be "A Forest", when it came out in 1980 it made the Cure instant stardom and they usually end their concerts with it. "Siouxsie and the Banshees - The Last Beat Of My Heart (Live 1991)" would be a nice one for Annie to discover.

This is not only my favorite Cure song, but perhaps the best song of the 80's. Queue up "In Between Days" and "Boys Don't Cry" by the Cure for your daughter next. Folks that like The Cure also like New Order, Depeche Mode, and The Smiths (start with "How Soon is Now"). INXS early stuff is just as good as their well-known stuff. Another Aussie band to try is The The (This is the Day, Uncertain Smile), and The Housemartins from UK (album The People That Grinned Themselves to Death). They had limited success in America, but good bands nonetheless.
