    It’s pointless to talk about market saturation in a country where companies would rather let their merchandise sit and rot in lots and fields than sell them at a loss because they know they will always be bailed out with taxpayer money (US, China)

      Sure you have a point, but think of the disaster it'd be for the market allowing Companies to a free, heavy fluctuation of prices...
      Think of the repercussions on the new vehicles prices of different brands, on second-hand vehicles quotations, and on the prices of spare parts, and the whole lot possibly changing on a near monthly basis!!
      The whole enterprise, If not perfectly managed (which îs nearly impossible) could easily lead to the collapse of the whole industrial sector.
      No matter the field of expertise, markets hate uncertainty.
      As long as the car making will be a crucial industry (strategically and for employment) yes, Companies experiencing difficulties will be bailed out, it's not cost-free but it's the lesser of two evils, the cure you're offering îs way worse than the disease.

      No its not that , if they sell it due to volume price will have to go down , and then with that price they would not earn as much profit . That is why in Netherlands i think or Denmark they kill 200 000 pigs , and god knows what else , becase if they dont oversupply would drop prices and their profit margins would go down , while its very stupid , there are people who need it .Food is essential , Cars are not , but instead of feeding the poor they just dump it
      This is not good for anyone , its not even good for the manufacturer , its a short term solution , long term its a disaster .
      So i hope time will come and these things will go away , after Neocolonialism falls .

    • @steamroller257
      @steamroller257 2 місяці тому

      @@dedskin1 we're saying same thing, increasing production volumes lead to decreasing price and firm's margin (assumed production exceeds demand), that's why they don't allow those cars to be sold off.
      Only, to defend Companies' profit îs not a bad thing as you seem to suggest , I mean it's dangerous to let big Companies' profit go down 'cause it negatively affects their stock rates and Country's wealth in general.

    • @steamroller257
      @steamroller257 2 місяці тому

      @@dedskin1 I don't know about those 200.000 danish pigs, seems strânge though, in the EU agriculture and farming there's a quota assigned to all local farmers with the volume they're allowed to produce, they get a fine If they exceed it.
      It's the opposite, it's oversupply that leads to drop in prices, when production meets demand that's when prices are stable.
      Also, will You explain why "long term it's a disaster"??

    Many car companies don't have customers buying what they make, but they aren't concerned enough to slow or stop production of more of what they can't sell. In the car universe, the factory's job is making cars and the dealer's job is selling them. Neither the factory or the dealers seem to care about each other's long term interests any more than they care about their customers. Lack of demand for the product is looked at as something to be blamed on advertising agencies, not on the product itself. It's nuts. Some brands have 400 days worth of inventory rotting on their lots, but dealers still won't cut prices. The principles of beginner-level economics get turned upside-down in the car biz, as though whatever you've been told about supply and demand was a joke. It's bad enough when domestic manufacturers are doing it out of ineptitude, but the Chinese are about to be deliberately doing it here because trashing other people's markets by flooding them with their over-production is more than just a business model.

    What you say about engine size makes sense in terms of pure physics as well as mechanics.
    Unfortunately, in some parts of Europe such as my resident country of the Rep of Ireland we have a "road fund tax" system which is priced by CC and not overall car and engine efficiency, inclusive of environmental impact.
    Such taxes were initially devised to maintain the state's roads in a safe and acceptable condition but if you ever visit the 'Emerald Isle' you will immediately witness dismal failure.
    The money in fact goes to county council accounts and road quality is at its worse in the rich counties in the east of the country.
    When driving over the border into Northern Ireland on the same basic route (numbered differently between the two jurisdictions), road surfaces and signing improve immediately.
    The crude thinking in the past was the bigger the engine, the greater the weight and CO2 output.
    Those of us who are old enough to have tuned our own cars before electronics removed such possibilities recall that CO2 was but one emission of several long-chain molecules inimical to air quality. We ensured that combustion was as 'complete' as possible and could measure tail pipe gases composition.
    Now, the state run NCT test uses usually unqualified testers and measuring equipment costing €millions but parameters in the software are crudely set and a whole car's fitness for road use, including emissions, makes no sense.
    Incentives (bribes) to sell EVs abound yet the weight of such vehicles in relation to road pavement EU regulations is not counted.
    Sufficient inherent engine power for a given vehicle's purpose should be taxed fairly and purpose proved. Does one need a great big SUV in a city or is that just a an easy and fashionable cop-out?
    3-cylinder low cc cars have a place in dense and crowded Asian megacities where space is scarce and as long as that type of engine is not revved to hell then their relative cheapness and the fact that re-cycling is a big deal in Japan etc justifies the type.
    But for average US and non-crowded European styles of driving, sufficient is the by word and what comes out of a tail pipe should be exactly measured.
    The who concept of road fund tax is skewed and confused but what is sure is that EV weight and volatility need to be sensibly assessed and duly taxed.
    Types of IC engines using various fuels will still be around in another 100 years, albeit linked to electrical assistance but the latter is certainly too immature to hold the market it currently does.
