As a mama raising a daughter who has been blind since birth, it is always encouraging to hear stories of adults living successful, independent lives. Maybe we will move to NZ.
Scared me for a minute ,I thought you didn't realize that milk is bad! I was looking at it like NOOO! It was nice to see this and learn a few things such as the color detector , have a blessed future!
Interesting thought. I have my bachelor's of science in psychology, hoping to get into grad school once life is more stable, and I've talked quite a bit with professors on the advantages and disadvantages of my sight. On one hand, I can't see facial expressions, or really make good eye contact since I can't really see eyes. On the other hand, my lack of visual analysis might perhaps be more of a comfort than a bother depending on the person. Also, my hearing is very important to me, so auditory cues are definitely things I can pick up on. I'm still very early in my education, though, so I'll see how it pans out as I go 😄
Great point! I know I'm a year late on your comment, but also for anyone paranoid or depressed. Being able to feel not judged on superficial appearance would make lots more comfortable.
The second she said she was a therapist, the first thing i thought was 'oh gosh, i wish she was my therapist.' I really struggle with people looking at me, always fearing a judgemental look. I'd be able to talk to this lady (who seems super capable!) in a much more freely manner than i would to someone with good eyesight.
I think loads of people would like talking to a blind therapist, It might seem weird at first for some people i guess who havent ever met a blind person before, But Iv never met a blind person and I would not find it weird at all lol
So good to see blind people being represented as well-ajusted, indipendent, happy and productive people. To be completely honest, I know plenty of people that don't work, and it's simply because they iether can't be bothered, or aren't motivated at all. As a blind person, I'm so glad that I live in a world where people like us and other disabilities are activly accepted by all comunities, I am also incredibly graitfull for the technealogical advances throughout the last 25 years.
Let me start writing that they are having a better life than mine. Cooking, friends, sports. I loved her jewelry, how she enjoys to mach. He is a such a great partner. God bless them .
Thank God this lady didn't listen to the doubters and used their ignorance to empower herself and teach others. Her positivity is contagious and I hope this is spread far and wide...
A million 'likes' for this video about a lovely couple. I wish I lived next door; they would be amazing friends because they are warm and funny and witty and love life xxx
A blind psychologist, that just means she has an extra skill, not judging by vision. Also it might make others with vision issues , disabilities or social differences feel more comfortable.also as a client you know they really are not just committed but passionate about their job, otherwise they wouldn’t have shrugged off other people’s disapproval.
Having had the very real pleasure of working with Martine beit all the way from China, I can only applaud this heartfelt window into this truly amazing person's life.
My best friend's younger sister is blind. She is a lawyer now working for a University in Waterloo, Ontario Canada and her husband is also blind and he is a Music Therapist (plays the piano). He works with elderly patients with Alzheimer's. They both are also fantastic singers and have done concerts. They have a 3 year old girl (so adorable) and she can see. She is pregnant with her second child and is due, I think in January or February 2021. Anything is always possible and just because you have a disability doesn't mean you are exempt from having a family or having a career and making a difference.
Omg, such Lovely Souls and they are hilarious!! What an inspiration to us all! The dogs are Beautiful, just like their love for one another! God Bless You All🙏🙏🙏🙏💜💜💜💜💜💜😘
What an amazing & powerful couple they are. They compliment each other so well. They're definitely couple goals. I love how they live life fully, regardless of any obstacles in the way. They don't seems to complain either. I wish this episode was longer or had a pt.2 to follow up. I pray you guys have a long happy life🧡 P.S. I thought that color detector was the coolest gadget.
Much respect and Arohanui to you both. Now my lil guy has started school at BLENNZ. I would love to remember my own personal life goals and retrain/work again. So this is such an inspiring message!!! Many Blessings to you both 🌟💫
What a beautiful couple!! I learned new things!! It never occurred to me about them needing an at home Braille machine or that one even existed! Makes perfect sense, though, now that they mentioned it. And I certainly never knew a color machine even existed!! Absolutely brilliant!!!
I'm South African, so my accent is similar to hers. Everytime she said 'OK Google' my phone stopped playing the video and the Google assistant came on 😅 I'm happy that they are living life to the fullest. It's our greatest tragedy that we haven't made the world more accessible both physically and as in the mindset of society.
I jus think that its amazing how they get around so good being blind I think I would go crazy to never being able to see I jus think that is a blessing 😇😇🙌🏾🤞🏾
Hallo Martine and Gary, what a nice video. It would be nice if you make weekly vlogs like these. I would subcribe and follow you 2. Its entertaining, educating, en maybe you learn nice people. Its a way to connect with people. And like i said i would follow your stories . Love sabrina
Do they make brail label makers or is there a program where you can print brail pages like from a brail printer? Seems like that tech would be so helpful for organization & putting instructions on things like washer machines. I'm fully sighted & I have like 6 different sticky notes programs for different categories...can't live without em.
I love how they pronounce her first last name like 'able'. She's disabled but still proves that she's able to do whatever she wants, so it kinda fits :)
Maybe she could print out tags for her bags and clothes which describe it to her- colour, shades, multicolored or not etc in Braille and attach them so that she'd have help. I saw someone else do it and thought it was quite a nifty idea.
I would love for you guys to come on my show on blending the blind and sighted. I dated a totally blind guy and I'm totally sighted come check us out and be part of the show I'm booking for Sunday 22 of November or later at 730pm pacific, 1030pm eastern
7:26 Am I the only American who had a mini heart attack when she got in on OUR drivers side of the car. Lol at this point America is doing everything wrong 😅
OMG yessssssss! LMAO - I was like, GURL I BELIEVE IN YOU AND ALL BUT WHAT ARE YOU DOING -- then I remembered it was NZ and they have the steering wheel on the opposite side of the car.
As a mama raising a daughter who has been blind since birth, it is always encouraging to hear stories of adults living successful, independent lives. Maybe we will move to NZ.
You are an inspiration too.
M M VI adult here :)
Scared me for a minute ,I thought you didn't realize that milk is bad! I was looking at it like NOOO! It was nice to see this and learn a few things such as the color detector , have a blessed future!
Me too!
Me too! I screamed at my laptop! LOL
At first I was thinking "Wow, you can buy 2 litre bottles of cream in NZ", until I realised that was supposed to be milk :)
Yeah I was like noooo
Tara Menjares it scared me too lol
I reckon a blind therapist would be really helpful for autistic adults, definitely something for ppl that can't relax around eye contact
Wow, this is so smart!

Best country for people with disabilities... By watching all the programs. I must say New Zealand is the best.

Love you Martine, youre friggen hilarious 😂
I like how she even takes effort to dress well, self love 😊
My google heard her ask her google what the weather was like in New Zealand so my google started giving the weather as well 😂😂

At her age I am sure she has her system that works for her. I believe she has those items for occassional use but carries on quite well without them.
@@ClearwaterKB oh yeah of course. She seems super sorted. Was just a suggestion, no shade meant. 😅🤷
😍😍
❤❤❤
My favorite parts are seeing the one dog drool.
Inspirational story thank you for sharing
I never thought about the fact, that Alexa would be very helpful for the blind.
I was thinking about how they could set up the whole house with that and it could make a world of difference. Magic of technology.
Thumbs up! :)
Who was the duo in the tuxedos?
Used to have MILLIONS of views. What the hell happened to it?!?!?!
What was the singing at the end? Can somebody explain?
I think it's traditional Maori singing. Not 100% sure though.
What kind of writing device did she used and how does it work?
Awesome Kiwis! Bummer that their vision is basically shot to Hell. All the best. Incidentally, very cute dogs. Cheers!
I would love for you guys to come on my show on blending the blind and sighted. I dated a totally blind guy and I'm totally sighted come check us out and be part of the show I'm booking for Sunday 22 of November or later at 730pm pacific, 1030pm eastern
Is blind cricket like beep baseball in the US?
Thank God he realized that the milk was spoiled
I got sooo worried at first! Like that camera man better not let them drink that old ass milk!!
Rose Gold i wasnˋt afraid of that, because i think that the sense of hearing and the sense of smelling might be very aware of any changings
xxconnie73xx true they could smell it for sure
7:26 Am I the only American who had a mini heart attack when she got in on OUR drivers side of the car. Lol at this point America is doing everything wrong 😅
OMG yessssssss! LMAO - I was like, GURL I BELIEVE IN YOU AND ALL BUT WHAT ARE YOU DOING -- then I remembered it was NZ and they have the steering wheel on the opposite side of the car.
Man, those guide handles look so uncomfortable, wish they had more padded handles for the persons comfort.
Did she put metal in the microwave?
Can they just fix it with surgery?
Maybe you should feed the dogs more often. They were eatting as though they were starving.
