In my opinion that’s what it takes to be a great carpenter, (figuring out ways to improvise), that buildout you used to build out that soffit so the vent would fit, is exactly how it’s done, (make it work) .. your work is always very crisp with clean lines - nice job again

I heard the whistle of approval at the 5:18 mark. You can not beat that.
And I loved the trick of sliding the bisket joiner across the board to create a groove in it. That was slick

Just a FYI, when you are running the biscuit jointer along the end of the board so you could slide them in, you don't need to go all the way, That way you only need to fill one side and not both. Just stop shy of busting through the side.

I have a question for you and hoping you can help me. About a year ago I remodeled my living room and added crown molding and I'm noticing that the caulking has started to crack. I was wondering if that's normal. Is there a certain brand that you would recommend? Or any tips top prevent this from happening.

By shimming out the coffer walls and changing the inner dimensions of the coffers, did you actually add the same amount of material to all 4 walls of the coffers you shimmed out? Because otherwise, the holes for the lights which I assume were centered would not be centered anymore........?

Impressive as usual. Now are you using 18 Gauge brads or 16 Gauge. You seem to have both Dewalt and Milwaukee. Are those both 18??? Of the two do you have a preference. It is a shame you cannot buy a nailer that can do a variety of gauges. For glue up do you recommend getting a 21 Gauge pin nailer or is that pretty much just a waste.

  • @toothpastehombre

Cutting the slots for the biscuits before hanging would work, right? Just measure to where you need the slot. And you can rip thin peices of wood to use as splines instead of the biscuits. They will be easier/cleaner to cut/trim later
