There it was!.. and mentally I’m confused as to what could have possibly led up to this black teenager giving me his white middle aged coworker permission to use the “N” word if I want too, and also wondering okay well so that happened, now what the hell do I do with that. Finally I decided to just ask what I felt was the most obvious benign question too ask. “Why would I want too?!”

Being mixed when I was younger my world was a little different. I am married to a super white Viking and two of my children actually have blond hair and we live in a suburban world.. But I have always tried to make sure my children know where we come from.. but sometimes I have the hardest time trying to get it through to my children that we can't use that word. My daughter is like, "but mom, we're mixed". I tell her, we don't suffer because of it. we are white enough we don't get pulled over, it doesn't stop us from getting jobs, SO WE DON'T GET TO USED IT........

For one thing you don’t use that word to insult a person you use it to insult an entire racial class, and that’s not my idea of acceptable behavior. your router likely has an emergency back up power. My Gmother has a surge protector with backup power for about 15 minutes. pretty sure it just needs the wires.
In case you're curious afaik, when the power comes back quick your computer or router would keep some charge in the capacitor and it'll take a second or two to actually power down i think.
The video was already pre-buffered in memory when the power went out. If you're using a laptop, it kept running via battery and continued to play the already downloaded file living in the RAM/Temporary folder on your device. When the power came back on, likely the wireless was available again and the video continued without interruption (unless it was fully pre-buffered prior to the outage).
