A positron emission tomography (PET) scan is an imaging tool that can help reveal the metabolic or chemical function of your tissues and organs. The PET scan uses a radioactive drug to do this - in the case of WD, radioactive copper is used. Dr. Sandahl describes his research using PET imaging to look at copper distribution in the body and how this technology might be used in the future to diagnose WD.
