Thanks for mentioning the brakes a few times. On paper those discs look undersized, even for the car's light weight, so good to hear a real-world opinion. I think I should go test-drive one now.
Bought this car six months ago love it. Also test drove the Mazda3 turbo the only time I could really use that extra power where I live is the on-ramp, and although faster I wouldn't call it more fun and the gas mileage was much worse. This car is the sweet spot plus I got a nice discount and I love getting 36 mpg average. If comparing to the civic SI I just don't trust a super small turbo engine for reliability and the interior was nowhere close and the Honda's near me jack up the price.
With a few simple mods it becomes a no brainer to me, it just needs a tiny push to be on the slightly more sporty fun side, still wont have the power like the mazdaspeed3 but WAY nicer as a daily and still fun.
Wow! I had an 08 mazda3 gt for a few years and i really liked it. Felt mazda really lost its way for a while, looks like they’ve been coming back! Now just drop in another 100hp and i would seriously consider trading in my ‘13 focus st for one.
I have a 4Runner as my daily driver and it’s killing me with the mpg. I’m so tempted to get one of these in manual just for commuting and enjoying my commute at the same time
what's your take on this Mazda3 vs a Civic Sport Touring Hatchback (manual) or a GTI (manual) for a daily (interior comfort and hauling space) + that extra fun factor combo? I test drove one of these a while ago, but haven't driven the Honda or VW yet. The Civic SI, imo, is on the Elantra N or WRX territory being a sedan.
@@MarianoEspagnol If you are in the US, I think it is. Unless you want to buy something from a few years ago. It is hard to believe it, but yeah. The daily oriented manual is like gone.
I own a 24 Mazda three manual but also test drove the Civic touring and GTI with manual. The Civic was actually more expensive and inferior in just about every way. Was able to get the Mazda at a discount while the Honda had crap tacked on. The GTI definitely had more pick up but I wasn't say I was blown away and the German engineering plus turbo all things being equal may have reliability issues down the road.
a cx 50 hybrid vs turbo would be interesting considering u own one long-term. Also, Mazda offers it in Cypress GREEN now. Cowards won't put it on a miata tho lmao, ok i'll stop now

I bought this car with a black interior. Dealer gave me 2.9%, that’s why I jumped. If I could go back in time I would probably get an ND3, or just (I didn’t have a lot money) a Town Car. The steering is so dead, the seats are uncomfortable, power is… whatever. I just can’t say it’s a good buy. The audio is good and the interior is covered in leather (blessing and a curse?), but I don’t think the interior styling is exactly good, when the sun hits at certain angles I think the lines don’t match up very pretty. Miata or Si all the way for the same price. Oh yeah! The shifter feels like it’s melting the synchros every time you shift, and from what I’ve heard the Si has the best FWD shifter on the market. Side note for the 3 premium-why not pay $3k more and get 250 hp and 320 torques? You lose the manual but like I said the manual doesn’t feel satisfying at all. Miata you get a drop top as well. I just can confidently say, TEST DRIVE EVERYTHING BEFORE BUYING. - I needed a car fast, mine was totaled, my hand was forced.
that interior is just absolutely gorgeous, one of my favorites at ANY price. wish this thing had a slightly higher redline or nicer engine
Imagine their inline 6 in the Mazda 3 would be a premium hot hatch
Thank you providing the manual, Mazda. You understand us! ♥
I am smitten with this car in this set up!

Wow very nice daily and a manual is so cool!
Agreed!
I love how the interior looks like my Miata. Very cohesive throughout the lineup.
I think the Mazda3 will be my next car. Thanks

Change that freaking gear! You can hear the dorning.
Kevin, excellent choice on your Mazda's.

7:52 Nice!
I noticed the lack of sharp throttle input when I test drove an nd2. Is there a fix for that or do you just eventually get used to it?

Don't think you can get the Civic in a manual anymore except for the Si, The GTI is also no longer manual.
@@LLG47 interesting. Is this then the only daily-focused manual hatch available as new (other than the more track-focused CTR or GR Corolla)?

Mazdaspeed3 owner here, I’ve been looking at these newer 3s. Won’t be as much fun but would be a lot more reliable and comfortable 😂
Please review the MK8 GTI! Would love to get your thoughts
This or the Integra Aspec with manual?
Also, to my understanding the Hyundai Elantra N has a pretty decent 6spd manual.

i love the newer mazda 3 hatches but the electronic parking brake is so unnecessary and is just another thing to go wrong or have quarks

It feels the same to the 50 cuz the 50’s built on the 3

Ride quality slightly worse at 1/10. At 5/10 driving you’re not noticing it other than ride quality, since dynamics aren’t being pushed hard enough
Ask someone on the back seat if they notice, multilink is much better. @@jubbalandcars
maybe you should make review videos seperate from asmr drive along "killing time" videos
Why would anyone buy this for that price? Makes no sense.
It's only 30K.. What other hatch would you get in place of this, that has a lower MSRP?
Very much worth it for what you get. And the dealers (in my area) don't mark them up.
For $30K?
