    Ivan, I feel like I'm in excellent company. I bought a Thinktool Pros last week! First thing I did was a cam/crank correlation. Nice. Still, it isn't cheap and I saved for years thinking Autel or Launch would get my money. I got wind of these at just the right time and liked the ruggedness and warranty. Knowing it's basically Launch software I pulled the trigger. I do all the work on 4 cars + a few others from time to time. Hoping the investment pays for itself in money and time saved. Can't tell you how grateful I am for your videos and other "elite" masters like you. You guys help make the world a better place. Thank you!!!

    I cleaned both throttle bodies and butterfly position reset and idle relearn on 2012 G37 with 80K. Did not disconnect the wiring harnesses. Quit a bit of timing and footwork but the ecu set everything perfectly. Your tool is great for a professional but it can be done "manually" if one has some auto savvy. I did not have a code but idle was slightly high before cleaning. I would hate to see what the dealers charges for the cleaning and relearn... Throttle seemed a little more crisp.

    Might be a good idea to disconnect the battery before changing spark plugs or cleaning a throttle body or MAF sensor. I even disconnect the battery on my Nissan Pathfinder when bleeding brakes.

      When I cleaned the throttle body on my 2011 Grand Caravan, I was very careful to unplug it, remove it from the car, and to clean it thoroughly with T. B. Cleaner, clean cloths, and swabs. I was careful not to allow the throttle plate to move and thus not disturb the alignment. I was able to get the perimeter of the throttle plate clean with swabs and careful spraying. All back together, idle was spec and it worked as it should.

  • @bige9830
    @bige9830 3 роки тому +1

    IAVL Or idle air volume learn. Needs to be performed. Because the carbon was removed from the throttle body now there's extra air going in . Now that's assuming the computer will even allow you to do it. Early Nissan models for whatever reason do not like setting IAVL. I had to change out ECM and throttle bodies to get that to set. And the older altima, they even had a recall to try and fix that . which it never did.

It ended up being two things causing it a bad TPS and MAF both causing issues Idle Air Control was okay but the MAF was reading wrong and keeping the IAC open and TPS wasn’t reading right either so sometimes on acceleration car just stall cause computer could not see throttle input and the wrong MAF readings just screwed everything up

    I recently got the ThinkScan 609 and it was nothing but problems out of the gate. My first step was to update. Failed with serial communications error (more than one computer). OK, let's try that nifty thumb drive that came with it. Nope, serial number not recognized. So after many back and forth emails, it finally updated. But in the process, I found that ThinkCar and LAUNCH share a common update tool and registration database, perhaps even more. But at one point they said they couldn't verify my device was one of theirs (despite sending a picture of it). Overall, not impressed with the company but the little scanner for around $100 isn't bad. When I asked why it couldn't be updated via USB, their response was that the update program hadn't been updated for USB updates yet. And oddly enough, it's called the "Product Updata" tool. I believe that's the Chinese translation. I'm not ready to invest more money in a company that's apparently selling beta software.
