Not sure if you are aware - but this is one part of a longer piece that Sarah composed titled "Blue Heron Suite". ua-cam.com/play/PLw4bxj1LLMQaPizvlm2by1hlvwInrzkVq.html&si=NFSA3PVQyNuBZnQM
Clearly a brilliant singer and songwriter, but seeing her live you realize what an AMAZING guitarist she is! This whole album is awesome, I love the recurring lyrical and melodic themes. And seeing her play with this top notch band is just priceless. Thank you!
Another of Sarah's songs that takes flight with the LFH band treatment. Gotta love the grin on Josh Dion's face as he adds the best combo of shaker and one handed fills. Oh, and the "rattlesnake" ending. Kudos to Brittany's flawless fiddle lines that added to the original composition. She is fighting a coughing fit till the very end. Would some one please get her a lozenge!!
I agree Roger! Ive been following him for many years, and he continues to amaze me with the talent of the performers he assembles, the quality of music performed, and the fun spirit that emanates from all. I’ve just discovered Sarah Jarosz from a random Spotify song, and the way UA-cam creates a thread of videos, ended up with some amazing collaborations like this one.
peter o'brien I saw a picture of her with Julian lage and critter in a studio a while back I think it was on her insta? I can’t remember but I guess it never came to be I don’t know

Love this song so much. Spotify randomly played me that, not can't get enough! Also, is that Chris Thile on mandolin? Keep seing him on all those folk/bluegrass videos.
Yep, this is an octave mandolin. It's actually pretty common for octave mandolins and mandocellos to have guitar style bodies. From an acoustic standpoint they're mostly in the same pitch range as a guitar, so the body size/internal-volume matches nicely.
She also tunes the G and D strings in octaves instead of in unison. I have mine tuned the same way. It adds some sparkle to those bottom two strings and allows for some fun cross-picking stuff.
All hail Sarah Jarosz!
Amen!!!
I wish Live From Here would come back in some form .. xo
Yes, please.

That guitar solo was just so completely perfect, and the way the fiddle picks it up at the rest.... just too beautiful.
@@dlc1119 The tone on that solo is amazing. (and I'm pretty sure it's a Telecaster that he's playing ;-) )
Critter!💕

It's an octave mandolin!
This song that makes you smile and cry at the same time.
How is every human on this stage so damned good at what they do...?
Practice. Thousands of hours of practice.
Some of the best acoustic music going these days under the understated but enthusiastic stewardship of Chris Thile.
Absolutely! Love the one-microphone ethic!

A musical painting. Exquisite.
Lot of good notes about Sarah's singing - personally, I'm impressed with her playing... remarkably good -- really really good
mando prodigy at 12
She’s the whole package: singing, playing and writing. Wonderful talent.
@@randalbladel2817 Indeed she is. Let's hope the pandemic's roll-off provides her with a long-running career
What a sweet and beautiful gift to the world you are! You touch my soul with every note you sing and play!! Thank you Sarah!!!

Critter is the best!

Wow🙏🙏🙏
Is that Alan Hampton on the upright??
Sounds good.
just Naturally working together theses 2, Chris and Sarah
Practice, practice, and practice. And when you've got some time left over; go and practice a bit.
That and a love of music of course.
question...(if anyone is out there)...Where is this song on her albums??? is it a road song? new song?
she recently said that it is recorded and will come out at some point... :)
@@sharonmickey4566 it's one of her best IMO
What genre is this? Bluegrass??
Does she have that tuned as a mandolin on a guitar body?
Sort of yes, it's an octave mandolin. So it's a mandolin, but tuned an octave down. This was custom built for her by Fletcher Brock.

It's so weird to see Critter on an electric guitar. Obviously, he's great at it, it's just strange to see...
First comment!
Fine performances but weak songs.
