I got this game about a week ago and it is a sleeper. It definitely still needs work but the concept of this game is right up my alley.

For maximum solar power use glass blocks, If you connect a solar block to glass blocks only you get all 6 sides producing power, that's what the little light display in the centre shows.

You're neutering your power output by blocking the solar cubes.

There weren't anymore there, it's procedurally generated, so you can find more in different solar systems
