Dad was an oyster farmer in Australia, I resented it as a kid, back in the 70's, it was a hard life. Technology has made it a lot easier these days and you can make a good living out of it. Looking back, we had a good solid upbringing and being out on the water all the time kept us in touch with nature and gave us a good work ethic
Wow, very impressed with Josh from Barrier Island Oyster Co, the amount of knowledge and respect for his craft was admirable, well done. Everything looks so delicious and well sourced, outstanding!
Saturday s with Mark are always the best days ever. I lived in Charleston SC for a few years back in 1984. It was a fantastic place to live. The basket markets where still there….what a great place to live.
Mark, 29:25 was my EXACT same reaction when I first had that plate, plus a tear came out from how delicious it was. I'm soo glad you went to Chubby Fish! Along with the feel of the neighborhood, this was an unforgettable dining experience!
I saw your comment and was waiting for it. He reacts so well with each bite…. But with that one, it truly blew his mind. It looks and sounds mind blowing! So lucky you’ve gotten to try it!
Me checking on how far it is to Charleston just to eat at Chubby Fish! That is one of the most interesting menus I've ever seen!! I would have never thought of incorporating shrimp into a bone marrow dish, but I'm so here for it!!! You can tell the chef is so proud of his food and I have to try it!!! Great video as always Mark!
HI Mark and your dear family. My family recently began watching your travels. We are going on a 10 day Boston/Maine trip this month inspired by you! We have reservations at the Union Oyster House and will later make way to the Cabbage Island Clam Bake before heading to Bar Harbor. We're big seafood lovers of all kinds! My wife is Thai and I'm from Miami. We're in Houston now. We never thought we'd be going to Charleston, but that changed after seeing this experience of yours! Thanks much... The Murphy's

Thank you so much, Mark, for teaching me about the amazingness of my own country. America is so large and it’s so hard to understand the differences in states and cultures within the United States. Think about how close France, Italy and Germany are to each other, and how different their cultures and food are. American states have a similar independence, and food culture. It’s amazing.
Love where your videos are going Mark. Have always entertained and given me a window to global cuisine at a humble level. Doing a lot of these behind the scenes, is deserving to your hard work and consistency. 🙏🏽 bless you and your family pop!
What a wonderful human being! Always brings authentic joy to everything. We love you Mark! And those oysters look incredible! I’m gonna have to make the drive from Mississippi soon!
Mark, I think you misidentified The Ordinary as Chubby Fish at 11:31 minutes 😬 … Regardless, love seeing you featuring Charleston. 👍🏻 It’s great place to live and more people need to know about it!
Wow, I love all the seafood that Charleston has to offer! Your videos around the world keep me distracted for the moment, living alone as an older adult with a lot of health challenges.
High 2 thumbs up for Chubby Fish!!! One of the most unique, clever, and appealing dishes you visited. Impressed with the creativity , presentation, and blend of different tastes.
Native South Carolina here!!! Once you've tasted our unique seafood and BBQ, you'll be back ......I PROMISE!!!! Nothing else compares to those oysters though. I'm sure that hot sauce is Texas Pete.

I live in SC up near the foothills on the west side of the state. I've only been to Charleston twice, but both times, they had the best seafood I've ever had outside of Japan. I tell everyone who vacations down here to swing by Charleston if they ever get the chance. Great town.
Mark i owned and operated several restaurants in south Carolina. Im a bit of a food historian concerning the addition of slaves in the USA. You have managed to delve deeply into the great foods of Charleston and also the Gullah cooking and their history. Good Job!
Yayy you made it to South Carolina! On my birthday lol! I have been subscribed to you guys since 2018 and have been a fan ever since! I am Korean-American living in South Carolina! I hope you and your family have a wonderful time!
Been a long time follower Mark. Back when you first got started. My wife and I have your shirts mi ped mi kin. My wife is Issan Ban Mon Chaiyaphum and we live here in Texas. If it ain’t spicy we won’t eat it. Enjoy your tours and your incredible variety of foods your have eaten in the past 6 years or so. You have grown simply because of your frankness and honesty. Never see you….welll….never say never but being disgusted with some orders. Looks like you always have respect and tolerance. Believe this as I believe that you can eat everything that doesn’t eat you first.
Good choice with Chubby Fish. We've been there twice, most recently last week. Love their lamb ribs, wahoo curry and whole fish. Another restaurant I highly recommend for good seafood in downtown Charleston is Pearlz. Also, the Glass Onion in West of the Ashley has amazing shrimp and grits.
Mark you are making me need a trip from my home state of Utah USA. We dont get fresh seafood here and all of your seafood tours make me really crave some fresh seafood
Funny thing is, I've never been much of an oyster person. Simply because when it comes to raw food like oysters, I'm still very skeptical & don't have my full trust in them yet. But if there was ever 1 person who could convince me that oysters are really amazing to eat, than it would be of course none other than the man, the legend himself, Mark Wiens. So thank you bro 🙏
