I like how everyone's dryer lint is a different color. This one is really pretty, they must wear a lot of lights and pinks. Mine is always a dusky purple because my bathroom colors are dark purple and light grey and my towels shed like crazy. When i lived with my mom ours was usually super dark grey because of so much black clothing and towels
I’m from New Zealand, that’s where Fisher & Paykel is from. It’s very cool to see our products in the USA. However, that lint filter has gotta be the most inconvenient design I’ve seen.
BTW, another major reasons why dryers have issues is that they are placed somewhere in the middle of the house instead of an outside wall. If its on an outside wall, its a 1 foot pipe at most which offers almost no resistance. A 30 foot long pipe with elbows offers a lot of resistance which greatly increases the likelihood of clogging.
Erm.. mine is like a washer distance from an outside wall - yet the went goes along that wall for two rooms lengths before it goes out the other one - like 35 feet or so 🤣 it works ok though, I keep it clean 💪
I have never lived in a place where the dryer wasn't right next to an outside wall with a vent going directly out. I didn't even know they made houses with huge long vents. It makes no sense. So these dryer vent cleaning videos are so odd to me.
A few years ago I owned a ranch style home with a full basement. The washer and dryer connection was at the front of the house (in the basement) but the builder ran the dryer vent all the way across to the back of the house, so about 40 feet or so. When the dryer began struggling to dry, I cut a hole in the front of the house and routed the vent straight to the dryer, about 10 foot of vent total because it had to go down the basement wall. It made a huge difference.
I use to go to loads of fires involving dryers. Clean filters after EVERY use. Only use when you are present; ensure there is a working smoke detector nearby; do not overload; do not dry for excessive time; do not use overnight; do not place additional loads or store flammable items on top of dryer. If it catches fire try to isolate the power; evacuate the area closing any doors and windows; call the fire service. I’m adding 1 edit. Make sure the electrical isolation switch isn’t directly over the dryer, so you can reach it safely. Make sure your fuse board is clearly labelled so you can isolate circuits in an emergency. (I know you could just switch off the main breaker. But, if you switch on lights as you evacuate it makes the fire services job so much easier).
Thank u for educating us. My X put up a sign on the wall next to the dryer. In big red letters it says clean filter every time before use. But I want to add. If u use dryer sheets. U need to wash filter with a soft bristle brush. I use a cuticle brush. Because the dryer sheets leaves a clear residue on the screen n clogs it up n that can cause a fire also. I personally don’t use dryer sheets because of the hazard
Exactly what do they do to prove it was cleaned? Unhook it from the dryer and check air flow? Which is fine, but a couple of more minutes of work and this person would have had to do this.
