    Thumbs up for the Ken demonstration lol
    Yeah squats and BSS are excellent exercises but for hams I think they're useless. My hamstrings can be so sore they're painful if I even begin to start bending over but I can still do squat motion without hurting at all; tells me I'm not hitting my hams at all with them.
    For me RDLs or good mornings absolutely destroy my hams and I'm sore for days afterward. The stretch is so crazy, that's why. Doesn't even take much weight honestly.

    I like stiff leg dumbbell deadlifts on riser blocks… great ROM and no restrictions on hand/arm position as with barbell.
    I also like to use a landmine setup using angled risers (ramps) and a comfortable angled hand grip attachment. The body position is slightly off of vertical (leaning back about 10 degrees) due to the locus of motion of the load. Finally, I have some long, narrow customized soup-can shaped ‘plates’ that allow for a higher ROM. Between the risers and the soup can plates, nothing hits the floor early.

    Lol "pull your pants up dog" ... that had me crackin up. Great idea using the toys to give a visual. You can get a 12" layman or wooden art mannequin. They have full range of motion for all joints.

    A bench with a decline option solves the lying db ham curl problems of either needing a helper with a flat bench, or the floor getting in the way if you're on the floor.

    Great video, Jonni. I disagree about DB over BB RDLs as you can use straps with a BB but not a DB. I think the additional ROM with DBS is insignificant compared to the additional load you can use with straps.

    • @mrw9216
      @mrw9216 3 місяці тому +4

      I use straps all the time with DBs. There’s no reason they cant be used.

    4:13 I do this as a lower back exercise tho. And, I use a Bowflex revolution with a curved bar attached to both pulleys. I’m just now getting back into exercising and did NOT realize this was a leg workout.
    HOWEVER, it’s not on my neck. I have makeshift forearm pads (two sleeves a la Allen Iverson shoved with some wool skully hats) locked around the bar like I’m going down a water slide. It doesn’t sit on my neck thus being painful. I COULD do it that way if I want to slingshot my face into the Bowflex, but that seems counterintuitive.
    LEGS, you say. Huh. Had no idea.

    Needs a summary of the tier lists.
    High rep stiff leg deadlifts fries my hamstrings like no other. Bring a bucket.
    50 reps (10% of your 1rep max) 40 reps (30% of your 1rep max) 30 reps (60% of your 1repmax)
    Then the fun begins. A finisher. 100 reps (try to surrvie) if you can't use any weight then use your bodyweight to finish. I only do this twice a week because it REALLY messes you up to say the least.
    Anyone that thinks they can't get hanging meat hooks. Try this out and get back to me and tell me it didn't put meat on those hooks.

    I do deadlifts on back day because I’m sure not doing them on leg day with squats. I think they do hit the lower back.

    • @Mrbobcat7
      @Mrbobcat7 3 місяці тому +1

      Yeah they are at least 80% back imo. They do hit hips and legs a little. Now a sumo dead or trap bar I may consider 50/50 legs and back.

  • @blazedones

    I will also add, that reverse hypers light my erectors up if i go heavy or rep out. Maybe a weakness issue that has then stretched/ working more than they should be. But it's the limiting factor for me over ham/ glutes

  • @gianlucacerri4398

    how would you rank RDL using a good Trap bar?

    • @johnk6930

      The trap bar moves the weight from the front to the centre, which reduces the load on the hammies

    This really isn't complicated. Hamstrings are a bicep muscle responsible for pulling the knee into flexion. And you should treat them similar to how you treat the biceps in your arms. You need to mimic the curling motion.

    I love your videos but that is pretty extreme to say that some excercises are the worst. Sure there are some which are more useful and better to do but this doesn’t mean others are worse. Don’t take it too seriously, have fun at gym and don’t hurt yourself ❤

      I agree have fun and all that but also
      There are simply worse exercises. There are exercises that if you want to grow your hammys and you decide to do them, you are wasting your time.
