I dont care what anyone says. This man deserves a lot more subscribers! His knowledge and experience are just amazing. Ive found out about Jonni Shreve since 2020-2021 and bros been helping me so much fr
Thumbs up for the Ken demonstration lol Yeah squats and BSS are excellent exercises but for hams I think they're useless. My hamstrings can be so sore they're painful if I even begin to start bending over but I can still do squat motion without hurting at all; tells me I'm not hitting my hams at all with them. For me RDLs or good mornings absolutely destroy my hams and I'm sore for days afterward. The stretch is so crazy, that's why. Doesn't even take much weight honestly.
Love the channel Jonni. My two weeklies for knee straight hamstrings are belt squat rdls and smith machine good mornings, would love to see them added to the list next time around for your thoughts 👍.
Bought a ghd off fb marketplace for $140. Thought it was a one trick pony and i probably wouldnt use it much since it takes up so much room but holy crap its my favorite hamstring exercise! Wont be selling it
I like stiff leg dumbbell deadlifts on riser blocks… great ROM and no restrictions on hand/arm position as with barbell. I also like to use a landmine setup using angled risers (ramps) and a comfortable angled hand grip attachment. The body position is slightly off of vertical (leaning back about 10 degrees) due to the locus of motion of the load. Finally, I have some long, narrow customized soup-can shaped ‘plates’ that allow for a higher ROM. Between the risers and the soup can plates, nothing hits the floor early.
Lol "pull your pants up dog" ... that had me crackin up. Great idea using the toys to give a visual. You can get a 12" layman or wooden art mannequin. They have full range of motion for all joints.
A bench with a decline option solves the lying db ham curl problems of either needing a helper with a flat bench, or the floor getting in the way if you're on the floor.
Great video, Jonni. I disagree about DB over BB RDLs as you can use straps with a BB but not a DB. I think the additional ROM with DBS is insignificant compared to the additional load you can use with straps.
4:13 I do this as a lower back exercise tho. And, I use a Bowflex revolution with a curved bar attached to both pulleys. I’m just now getting back into exercising and did NOT realize this was a leg workout. HOWEVER, it’s not on my neck. I have makeshift forearm pads (two sleeves a la Allen Iverson shoved with some wool skully hats) locked around the bar like I’m going down a water slide. It doesn’t sit on my neck thus being painful. I COULD do it that way if I want to slingshot my face into the Bowflex, but that seems counterintuitive. LEGS, you say. Huh. Had no idea.
Perfect time to launch a Jonni's action figure with multiple articulations so you can demo all exercises and kids can play with it ;) Dumbells, barbells, plates, and machines sold separately 😅
I use romain chair, RDL, lying leg. Mainly for hamstrings,I have good hamstrings already and a big bum 🤣, so most my work quad focused, hack squat, leg press etc etc.
Needs a summary of the tier lists. High rep stiff leg deadlifts fries my hamstrings like no other. Bring a bucket. 50 reps (10% of your 1rep max) 40 reps (30% of your 1rep max) 30 reps (60% of your 1repmax) Then the fun begins. A finisher. 100 reps (try to surrvie) if you can't use any weight then use your bodyweight to finish. I only do this twice a week because it REALLY messes you up to say the least. Anyone that thinks they can't get hanging meat hooks. Try this out and get back to me and tell me it didn't put meat on those hooks.
Single leg stiff leg dumbell is a game changer. Opposite hand to working side. Nothing to go too heavy with. But guaranteed soreness doing them right. Thank me later
I will also add, that reverse hypers light my erectors up if i go heavy or rep out. Maybe a weakness issue that has then stretched/ working more than they should be. But it's the limiting factor for me over ham/ glutes
This really isn't complicated. Hamstrings are a bicep muscle responsible for pulling the knee into flexion. And you should treat them similar to how you treat the biceps in your arms. You need to mimic the curling motion.
So sad my gym dosen't have a reverse hyper because i'm sure it's an A or S tier exercise. Now i wonder if i can use my leg extension for that, or if i have to use a band on the GHD.
Huh. I don't know if I do the hamstring slide in a weird way, but when I do it I feel it much more in the hamstrings in the eccentric direction (going down).
I love your videos but that is pretty extreme to say that some excercises are the worst. Sure there are some which are more useful and better to do but this doesn’t mean others are worse. Don’t take it too seriously, have fun at gym and don’t hurt yourself ❤
I agree have fun and all that but also There are simply worse exercises. There are exercises that if you want to grow your hammys and you decide to do them, you are wasting your time.

i agree. Jonni is great!
He used to be really popular but Dr. Mike was just more consistent with it.
Jonni telling a Ken doll to “pull your pants up dawg” was the best thing I’ve heard all day! Lol
Same, got a legit lol from me.
I Looked away from the screen for second... And came back to a doll in a compromising position with a can.
What a great channel! I'm glad to know that my three or four usual exercises are at the top 😄
Have a blessed weekend Jonni!
Subbed! I found this incredibly useful, thank you. Could not figure HS out, this gives me several options to try.😊
Thumbs up for the Ken demonstration lol

Great video you always go in great details about every excercise
Great vid jonni 💪

"the ground gets in the way" - i hate when that happens

There's no way this man is 40 years old. He looks like he's in his early 30s😮
7:34 again! Thought this was lower back! As a young man, I did this holding weights and did a fly at the top.
Great video, Jonni. I disagree about DB over BB RDLs as you can use straps with a BB but not a DB. I think the additional ROM with DBS is insignificant compared to the additional load you can use with straps.
I use straps all the time with DBs. There’s no reason they cant be used.

TRX HAMSTRING CURLS are humbling too
6:01 exactly! Thought it was a back exercise.
Hi Coach...how would you rank sumo dumbbell squats for hams.or glutes???
Bro, lol! Killing me when you pulled out the dolls 😂
Reverse Lunch...or how it's usually called: Throwing up.
Does it make ot any better to do nordic hamstring curls on a lat station using the knee pads to lock in your ankles and feet?
I use romain chair, RDL, lying leg. Mainly for hamstrings,I have good hamstrings already and a big bum 🤣, so most my work quad focused, hack squat, leg press etc etc.
will you do for glutes?
Needs a summary of the tier lists.

I ain’t doing all that man I have a job and other things to do
Single leg stiff leg dumbell is a game changer. Opposite hand to working side. Nothing to go too heavy with. But guaranteed soreness doing them right. Thank me later
Just in time for leg day today.
Jonni, is there anything wrong with working out everyday?
Yes, after 2 weeks you begin to change the magnetic field of earth and you start to become the Target for FBI cia etc
@@TWrzalek ah I see. Thank you so much. I was afraid that perhaps it would send me to Saturn 🪐
I do deadlifts on back day because I’m sure not doing them on leg day with squats. I think they do hit the lower back.
Yeah they are at least 80% back imo. They do hit hips and legs a little. Now a sumo dead or trap bar I may consider 50/50 legs and back.
I will also add, that reverse hypers light my erectors up if i go heavy or rep out. Maybe a weakness issue that has then stretched/ working more than they should be. But it's the limiting factor for me over ham/ glutes
how would you rank RDL using a good Trap bar?
The trap bar moves the weight from the front to the centre, which reduces the load on the hammies
This really isn't complicated. Hamstrings are a bicep muscle responsible for pulling the knee into flexion. And you should treat them similar to how you treat the biceps in your arms. You need to mimic the curling motion.
Can you do a short on how to use the reverse hyper for glutes 🙏 🙏 🙏
I have one note for future tier lists, Jonni: You should play with your dolls every time 😅
Nothing beats single leg stiff dead lifts followed by double stiff legs sort of a pre exhaust for mega hamstrings
11:06 Carl needs to stretch more. Mobility is important.
You gotta show your skincare routine bro! You like my age 30. And pusing 40? Thats Wild!
He is 41 already
Man you forgot the mighty kettlebell swing
Holy smokes, what did the barbell ever do to you? lol jk great video and as always great content!
Hamstrings are contracted isometricaly during a full squat to hold the knee in place.
So sad my gym dosen't have a reverse hyper because i'm sure it's an A or S tier exercise. Now i wonder if i can use my leg extension for that, or if i have to use a band on the GHD.
Shout out to Selena for some killer models!!! 😂😂😂
Team Carl ❤
12:34 LMAO!
Huh. I don't know if I do the hamstring slide in a weird way, but when I do it I feel it much more in the hamstrings in the eccentric direction (going down).
If they useless why you showing them to me 😂 show me something i can use something i need for massive gains 💪🔥
nordic hamstring curl is a lot better for rehab purposes
I love your videos but that is pretty extreme to say that some excercises are the worst. Sure there are some which are more useful and better to do but this doesn’t mean others are worse. Don’t take it too seriously, have fun at gym and don’t hurt yourself ❤

i hate seated hamstring curls it just doesn't get the same burn to me
3:10 THICCC
For the algorithm
1 leg hamstring slider + dumbbell dead hamstrings
Jony Gym
You missed Smith Machine Romanian Deadlift.
That's just an RDL but machine. It just keeps you in a vertical line as you should.
Would probably be on his higher tiers because the bar path.
I do them with stiff legs. Is that the same or considered stiff leg deads?
Clipuri Gym
What are you doing to Carl? 😱🤭
What does the flag mean?
*Exercise not exercises
CAN'T STAND GOOD MORNINGS I PREFER GOOD NIGHTS 😂😂 BUT NOT KEEP DROPPING THAT KNOWLEDGE BRO 💪🏾💪🏾
No way this man is 40,
He looks like he’s in his late 30s 😨
Nordic curls? Should be S tier
As Ken demonstrated, this doesn't provide enough stretch as the knees are bent throughout the movement
