- Klondyke road is gravel road between Onewhero and Port Waikato.
Definitely my preferred route towards Port Waikato, very scenic with spectacular views stretching for miles over the Waikato district.

Very glad you enjoyed the video mate :-) If you don't mind me asking, since you stay on Klondyke rd, there is a track I would like to go and explore called "Moewaka track" its shown on topo maps but I can not seem to get any other info of it, do you know if this track is accessible?
@@adianvanderwalt6329 Cool to see a local on here. As soon as we get our residency my wife and I will be hunting around for a rural property in the Klondyke Road/Onewhero area to build/farm on. So many people overlook this amazing stretch of NZ it sometimes seems like the area between Port Waikato and Raglan might as well be a blank space on the map (unless you're a farmer or a biker 😎), but there are some really amazing and underappreciated places out there (e.g. Nikau Caves, hot pools, hidden beaches etc) and we've always loved that region since we moved to NZ in 2016. Hope you're enjoying "the Klondyke" 🎩 and maybe we'll see you around one of these days. ✊🤙
@@clp1 Good to hear from you mate. That will be a really nice place to settle. We are in the Howick area and I just love driving through that area. My life took a bit of a turn, got made redundant and starting a new job in the South island. As good as this is, there are stil soooo many places I want to go to on the North Island, guess I need to put that on the back burner a bit.
@@adianvanderwalt6329 Well, the South Island certainly won't be short on adventures eh? :-) One of my favourites was Mount Sunday (aka Edoras from LOTR). Absolutely phenomenal for a drive and a short walk. Next on the docket for us is Stewart Island.
@@clp1 wow, never been to the South island, for one thing I know there is way more off road opportunities, but you are right, South Island will not disapoint
Great clip, I used this road many many times and it was a magnificent drive, they experienced a few land slips and had to block the road for a while but it may been cleared by now? Thanks for posting

@@adianvanderwalt6329 just out of curiosity do you know how long the actual road is? I’ve heard roughly 20kms but I haven’t verified it? Thanks

I'm really not sure mate, I would think not, private properties and forestry all the way through
